We never lose God’s love

Have you ever had someone end a relationship with you because of a mistake you made or something you did wrong? It’s a terri-ble feeling to lose someone’s love, especially if it is your fault. Fortunately, God’s love doesn’t depend on how good we are. Remember the parable Jesus told of the prodigal son (Luke 15)? No matter what the son’s transgressions, the father received him in complete love. That’s how God feels about us. God’s timing Sometimes it seems like no matter how much we pray, God doesn’t hear us. It can be tempting to give up hope, but remember, God always answers prayer in His time. Each day, decide to trust God; His timing is perfect. “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love He had for us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, brought us to life with Christ”(Ephesians 2:4-5) MEDITACIONES BREVES

Nunca perdemos el amor de Dios ¿Alguna vez ha perdido la relación con alguien por un error que usted cometió o algo malo que hizo? Es terrible lo que se siente al perder el amor de alguien, especialmente si es por culpa de usted. Por suerte, el amor de Dios no depende de lo buenos que seamos. ¿Recuerda la parábola de Jesús sobre el hijo pródigo (Lucas 15)? Confíe cada día en Dios: su ritmo es perfecto.“Pero Dios, que es rico en misericordia, por el gran amor que nos amó, pre-cisamente cuando estábamos muertos a causa de nuestros pe-cados, nos hizo revivir con Cristo” (Efesios 2:4-5)

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS In Our Midst One day my son came downstairs in our house and went into the kitchen to get himself a bowl of cereal. He had no idea I was in the front room quietly reading something on my smartphone. He poured his milk and reached to grab a spoon. At that moment, I simply said, “Hello.” Startled, he jumped back from the silver-ware drawer and let out a scream. He would tell this story differ-ently, but it certainly was a scream. He clutched his chest as if he had just seen a ghost. All I wanted to do was say hello. We have all been startled by someone when we thought we were all alone. Sometimes that person in our midst was simply quiet and hidden from our view. Other times, we simply have our head and mind in the clouds to the point we are ignoring the fact we are not alone. At times that person we don’t see is Jesus. He might seem quiet-er some days, but he should never be hidden from our view. He is always there with us, in others, and sharing our everyday mo-ments. When we fail to see him in our midst, it is easy to act in ways we wouldn’t if we saw him directly in front of us. We be-come less giving and more self-centered. No one wants to be surprised one day when suddenly they realize they were not alone, especially if the one who startles us is our God. — Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS ©LPi LA CORRESPONSABILIDAD DIARIA: RECONOCE A DIOS EN TUS MOMENTOS ORDINARIOS Entre Nosotros Un día, mi hijo bajó las escaleras de nuestra casa y fue a la coci-na a buscar un tazón de cereal. No tenía idea de que estaba en la sala leyendo tranquilamente algo en mi teléfono inteligente. Se sirvió la leche y alargó la mano para agarrar una cuchara. En ese momento, simplemente dije: "Hola." Asustado, saltó hacia atrás del cajón de los cubiertos y dejó escapar un grito. Él contaría esta historia de manera diferente, pero ciertamente fue un grito. Se agarró el pecho como si acabara de ver un fantasma. Todo lo que quería hacer era saludar. Todos hemos sido asustados por alguien cuando pensamos que estábamos solos. Algunas veces esa persona entre nosotros sim-plemente estaba callada y escondida de nuestra vista. nuestros momentos cotidianos. Cuando no lo vemos entre nosotros, es fácil actuar de una manera que no lo haríamos si lo viéramos directamente frente a nosotros. Nos volvemos menos generosos y más egocéntricos. GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE November 8, 2020 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time When doing student report cards, there was a com-ment the teacher could choose that read: inattentive and easily distracted. Could that comment describe your spiritual life? We can become so consumed with myriad distractions and preoccupations and lose our connection to what is really significant and important. We can become dull. This happens in our human rela-tionships, too. We can easily take the love of others for granted, whether it be a parent, spouse, friend, or a child. We assume and presume that their love will al-ways be there and do very little to cultivate, rejuve-nate, and deepen it. Presumption can become a great sin. We do the same thing with God and our spiritual lives. We presume that God will be merciful. Because we believe that in the end God is going to forgive us anyway, then why put a lot of effort into things now? What’s the point? It’s far easier to find a comfortable spot, curl up and take a nap! There is no immediate urgency to staying awake and attentive, so we think, and we simply fly by the seat of our pants. Assuming and presuming too much about our relationships, es-pecially our relationship with God, can lead to neglect and abuse. It can even lead to a sense of entitlement, where we actually believe that something is due us without much effort on our part. Folks who are distracted and preoccupied can find their relationships, especially the primary ones, drift-ing away. You can actually be married to someone for many years and wake up one morning realizing that you really do not know them or truly recognize them. We have to desire God in order to recognize God. We have to open our hearts, minds, and souls to His Pres-ence so that we can be rejuvenated and refreshed. But we cannot do this if we are distracted or napping. We have to be awake and alert! As a young child eagerly watches for and anticipates that arrival of their parent home, so too we must watch for God’s presence. If the anticipation of God’s arrival does not excite us and rouse us, then we need to ask why. The wise per-son keeps vigilant watch, knowing that in the end they will not be disappointed. ©LPi

MEDITACIÓN DEL EVANGELIO – ALENTAR UN ENTENDIMIENTO MÁS PROFUNDO DE LA ESCRITURA (Gospel Meditations) 8 de noviembre de 2020 32º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

El punto principal de esta parábola de las diez jóvenes contiene episodios de ansiedad entre ellas, porque unas estaban preparadas y otras no. Además, la pará-bola cuenta, al mismo tiempo, con imágenes de gran simbolismo. Se habla de luz de tiempo de espera, de adormecimiento, de la llegada del novio, de preparar las lámparas, de boda y de fiesta y al fin, salir al en-cuentro del novio. “A media noche se oyó un grito: ¡Viene el novio, salgan a su encuentro! Todas las jó-venes se despertaron y prepararon sus lámparas”. (Mateo 25:6-7). Ahora, si estamos listos, veremos que las imágenes nos preparan a la segunda venida de Cristo, donde vivimos tiempo de oscuridad y tiempo de luz. Aquí la pregunta clave es. ¿Cómo gastamos el tiempo de la espera? ¿Tiene aceite nuestra lámpara? Aunque estemos dormidos hay que estar preparados. Dios nos da oportunidades todos los días para escoger los valo-res del Evangelio. Basta con abrir el corazón y la mente para atender las necesidades de los demás. Es tan bonito estar preparados para todo y en el mo-mento preciso. Aprendamos de las personas que nos rodean. Por ejemplo: doctores, doctoras, enfermeros, enfermeras, todas las personas que trabajan fuera para que los que estamos en casa tengamos lo necesario. Al final de la parábola, el Señor Jesús advierte. “Por tanto, estén despiertos, porque no saben el día ni la hora”. (Mateo 25:13). Admirar, querer, rezar y acompañar de alguna manera a todas las personas que gastan su vida por otros es un deber, y un compromi-so. ¡Es estar preparados! ©LPi
