Dear Parishioners, Last weekend I published some examples from the new translation of the Roman Missal. This weekend I’d like to provide some

additional sample comparisons of the old texts and the new texts. Changes are highlighted in bold . One thing that we all recognize is the fact that with anything new, we will all need some time to adjust.

Penitential Act, Form B

Priest: Lord, we have sinned against you: Lord, have mercy. People: Lord have mercy. Priest: Lord, show us your mercy and love. People: And grant us your salvation.

Priest: Have mercy on us, O Lord. People: For we have sinned against you. Priest: Show us, O Lord, your mercy. People: And grant us your salvation.

Nicene Creed We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father, God

from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made,

one in Being with the Father.

Through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation

he came down from heaven:

by the power of the Holy Spirit

He was born of the Virgin Mary,

and became man.

For our sake

He was crucified under Pontius Pilate;

He suffered, died, and was buried.

On the third day he rose again

in fulfillment of the Scriptures;

he ascended into heaven and is seated

at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory

to judge the living and the dead,

and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,

the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds

from the Father and the Son.

With the Father and the Son

He is worshiped and glorified.

He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy, catholic

and apostolic Church.

We acknowledge one baptism

for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection

of the dead,

and the life of the world to come. Amen

I believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ,

the Only Begotten Son of God,

born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made,

consubstantial with the Father;

through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation

he came down from heaven,

and by the Holy Spirit

was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,

and became man.

For our sake

He was crucified under Pontius Pilate,

He suffered death and was buried,

and rose again on the third day

in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated

at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory

to judge the living and the dead

and his kingdom will have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord,

the giver of life, who proceeds

from the Father And the Son,

who with the Father and the Son

is adored and glorified,

who has spoken through the Prophets.

And one, holy, catholic

and apostolic Church.

I confess one baptism

for the forgiveness of sins

and I look forward to the resurrection

of the dead

and the life of the world to come. Amen

SUNDAY SCRIPTURE READINGS Reflect on today’s readings. Prepare for next Sunday.

This Sunday, July 25 Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Gn. 18:20-32, Col. 2:12-14, Lk. 11:1-13

Next Sunday, August 1 Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Eccl. 1:2; 2:21-23, Col. 3:1-5, 9-11; Lk. 12:13-21

WEEKLY

Thank you so very much for your financial support. So

many of our parishioners believe that it is important to finan-

cially support their parish. Thank you for living your financial

commitment. Your support helps us to achieve our weekly

collection goal of $6,000 per Sunday.

For the weekend of July 17/18 there were a total of 392

people who attended Mass. The total weekend collection

came to $5,603 (of that amount $2,136 came from parish

members making their contributions electronically through

Parish Pay). This amount is $397 BELOW our weekly goal of

$6,000 per Sunday.

We appreciate all those who act as good stewards of

their time & treasure by joining us for Mass in their faithful

giving for the collections; and we ask that more parishioners

and visitors be responsible stewards supporting the parish.

Dancing Lessons and a Social I have received a number of positive responses to this

advertisement for dance lessons and a

social. However, I will continue to run this

article because it is summer and some

may not have seen it. So, if you are inter-

ested in attending dancing lessons along

with a nice social evening, send me an

email to let me know.

Please contact Fr. Tom at [email protected].

Jesus is describing God’s immeasurable generosity when He

says in today’s Gospel, “Whoever asks, receives; whoever

seeks, finds; whoever knocks, is admitted.” But it should also

be the description of us as Christian stewards — those seeking

to follow Christ by using our gifts in service to others.

Archdiocesan Pilgrimage

To the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception,

Washington, DC

It is customary for the Archdiocese of Newark to conduct

a pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Im-

maculate Conception, Washington, DC, every three years.

As was previously planned, Archbishop Myers will be leading

our next pilgrimage to the Shrine on Saturday, October 23,

2010.

In order to coordinate the logistics of the Pilgrimage, the

parish is seeking a representative to act as a coordinator and

liaison with the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage Committee. If you

would like to help in this capacity, please contact the rectory:

[email protected], or call 201-434-0798. Thank you.

Congratulations to Jessica and Scott Gearhart who celebrated their nuptials at OLC last weekend, Sat-urday, July 17, 2010. May they experience all the happiness in the world together.

Mass Intentions

If you wish to have a Mass celebrated for someone or for a particular Intention please call (201-434-0798), stop by the rectory or send an e-mail to: [email protected]. We maintain a living bond with our loved ones as we remem-ber them in our prayers.

Try to make a special effort to attend daily Mass. Take time during your lunch break or attend mass in the morning before work. It will take extra effort to do so, but the rewards will be invaluable and eter-nal.

should you forget the first Sunday, you can make your donation any

Frequently, we remember those who are in need during the

holiday seasons; however, hunger affects people throughout the

year. Let us always remember those in need throughout the year.
