RELIGIOUS EDUCATION GRADES 1-6 NO CLASSES

THIS WEEK OR NEXT WEEK CLASSES RESUME ON

MONDAY NOVEMBER 26th

ENCOURAGEMENT This Sunday's Gospel is our final selection from Mark for this liturgical year. It is taken from the end of Jesus' teaching in Jerusalem immediately preceding the account of his arrest and passion. In it Jesus gives his disciples hope to sustain them

through his passion and death and any persecution or suffering that they would encounter after his resur-rection. The words from the book of Daniel also provided hope and encouragement to the people of Daniel's time. The encouragement in these scriptures is meant for us as well, for none of us will escape tribulation in our lives. Followers of Jesus will be able to endure suffering with joyful hope, knowing that Christ's love will lead us along the way of discipleship and give us eternal life with God.

THE GLORIOUS BIBLE It is one of the glories of the Bible that it can embrace many meanings in a single passage. --St. Thomas Aquinas

Dear Friends, Thursday is Thanksgiving. Mass on Thanksgiving will be at 10am. Mass will be bilingual so that all of us , as a a community, can celebrate as one. A col-lection will be taken us and divided between SVDP and the OLL Christmas Out-reach Program. At the end of Mass, I will bless the bread and wine you bring for your Thanksgiving dinner. I couldn’t think of a better way to begin your Thanks-giving Celebration thank by coming to Mass.

Our 42nd Annual Christmas Luncheon will be on Friday, December 7th, for 10am to 3pm in the Parish Hall. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year for our school. Fly-ers are available in the vestibules of the Church. Since I last wrote you, we have had two major meetings: the first was our Parish Coun-cil Meeting and secondly, our Lector and EM Meeting. Both meetings went well. We have many challenges facing our parish, but with the good will of our parishioners, we can meet those challenges head on and become the parish God wants us to be. I am thankful for all your hard work. Despite the heated rhetoric coming form Washington, shootings, and fires, we as a coun-try have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving Day. Happy Thanksgiving! Father Brian

Here is an article from Dear Abby which I thought was good. I hope you do as well.

How’s your health? Not so good? Well, thank God you’ve lived this long. A lot of people haven’t. You’re hurting? Thousands— maybe millions are hurting more. (Have you ever visited a veteran’s hospital? Or a rehabilitation clinic for handicapped children?) If you awakened this morning and were able to hear the birds sing, use your vocal chords to utter human sounds, walk to the breakfast table on two good legs, and read the newspaper with two good eyes, praise the Lord! A lot of people couldn’t

How’s your pocketbook? Thin? Well, most of the living world is a lot poorer. No pensions. No welfare. No food stamps. No Social Security. In fact, one third of the people in the world will go to bed hungry tonight.

Are you lonely? The way to have a friend is to be one. If nobody calls you, call them. Go out of your way to do something nice for somebody. It’s a sure cure for the blues.

Are you concerned about your country’s future. Hooray! Our system has been saved by such concern. Concern for honesty in government, concern for peace, and concern for fair play under the law. Our country may not be a rose garden, but it is also not a patch of weeds. Freedom rings! Look and listen. You can still worship at the church of your choice, cast a secret ballot, and even criticize your government without fearing a knock on the head or a knock on the door at midnight. And if you want to live under a different sys-tem, you are free to go. There are no walls or fences, nothing to keep you here.

As a final thought, here is my Thanksgiving Prayer:

Heavenly Father: We thank you for food and remember the hungry. We thank you for friends and re-member the friendless. We thank you for freedom and remember the enslaved. May these remembrances stir us to service. That your gifts to us may be used for others.

TODAY'S READINGS First Reading -- Those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever (Daniel 12:1-3). Psalm -- You are my inheritance, O Lord! (Psalm 16). Second Reading -- Where there is forgiveness, there is no long-er offering for sin (Hebrews 10:11-14, 18). Gospel -- Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away (Mark 13:24-32).

No podría pensar

¿No tan bien? Bueno, gracias a Dios que has vivido tanto tiempo. ¿Delgado?
