Dates to Remember

Religious Education Registration for the 2013-2014 school year has begun. Information and forms have been given to the children. Forms are also available on our website. Please register as soon as possible, so that we can order books.

Are you a registered parishioner? Occasionally there is a misunder-standing about Parish Registration; every family should be properly regis-tered by filling out a Parish Census Form. If you do not receive collection envelopes in the mail, chances are,

you are not “officially” registered. Forms are available at the rectory, or you can get started by filling out the form on page 5 of this publication and dropping it in the collec-tion basket. It’s that easy! All personal information is al-ways kept confidential.

Archbishop’s Annual Appeal --- Making a Difference Last month, in the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, Archbishop Myers ordained eight men to the Priest-hood and eleven men as transitional Deacons for service to the Church of Newark. Transitional deacons serve in parish-es for one year before they are ordained to the priesthood. While many dioceses in the United States have no candi-dates for the priesthood and clergy shortages are wide-spread, the Archdiocese of Newark is blessed with several men each year who are willing to answer God’s call to serve, insuring that the Church will be present for future genera-tions. The seminary training and formation of our new priests is funded primarily by the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. Thank you for your support of the Archbishop’s Annual Ap-peal which makes educating our future priests a reality!

Upon entering the little country store, the

stranger noticed a sign saying "DANGER!

BEWARE OF DOG!" posted on the glass

door. Inside he noticed a harmless old hound

dog asleep on the floor beside the cash regis-

ter. He asked the store manager, "Is THAT

the dog folks are supposed to beware of?"

"Yep, that's him," he replied.

The stranger couldn't help but be amused. "That certainly

doesn't look like a dangerous dog to me. Why in the world

would you post that sign?"

"Because," the owner replied, "before I posted that sign, people

kept tripping over him."

Get Involved... Adult Handicraft Our craft ladies are working on several projects. They will continue to make afghans for our Veterans, and “hug-a-bear” dolls for pediatric patients in local hospitals. Their newest project is crocheting hats for children struggling with cancer. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary The Feast of the Assumption is cele-brated every year on August 15. It commemorates the death of the ever-Virgin Mary and her bodily assumption into Heaven. The mass schedule is as follows: Wednesday, August 14: 7 p.m. Vigil, Thursday, August 15: 7

a.m., 8 a.m., and 12 noon. This Feast Day is a Holy Day of Obligation.

Stewardship We have an obligation to share with others, that which God has given us. Share your time, and talents. Men and women can become involved in the life of our Parish by becoming an Altar Server, Catechist, Choir Member, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Lector, and/or Usher. By taking an active role in the liturgical life, and service of the Parish, you can have a wonderful experi-ence. We are especially in need of men and women to volunteer their time as Lectors and Eucharistic Minis-ters. Feel free to fill out the form on page 5 and drop it in the collection basket or call the Rectory.
