Howdy,
First of all, I wish a very Merry Christ-
mas to all of you. This is such a wonder-
ful time of year, full of family and
friends. For some of us who have lost
loved ones, it is also a difficult time.
Please remember to pray for those who
are missing loved ones or who are espe-
cially lonely at this time. God became
one with us to remind us that we are all
one family together.
I also want to remind our young men,
high school age and above, that this Fri-
day is our annual Diocesan Young
Men’s conference. It is a great time to
celebrate what it means to be a young
Catholic man in our society today. The
conference is Friday, December 28th , at
St. Bernadette parish from 10am to 5pm.
The cost is $20 if you register alone, but
if you register with our your group it is
only $10.
Again, I pray you all have a wonderful
and safe Christmas season.
Waiting for Jesus,
Father Mike
solo cuesta $10.
Nuevamente, les pido a todos que tengan
una maravillosa temporada navideña y
que se mantengan sanos y salvos.
Esperando a Jesús
Padre Mike

Here we are, mere days from Christmas, and we
hear a Gospel anticipating the birth of another
child. Mary has received word that her cousin
Elizabeth is with child. Pregnant as she is, Mary
"set out and traveled to the hill country in haste."
She has recently received the greatest news of her
life - that she is to be mother to the Messiah by the
power of the Holy Spirit - but her concern is for
her cousin in need. Through God's grace, Eliza-
beth turns it into an opportunity to honor the com-
ing Christ. "Blessed are you among women, and
blessed is the fruit of your womb." Yet Mary's
example of selflessness should inspire us.
As Christmas draws near, there is plenty of good-
ness to anticipate for many of us. We'll reunite
with family and friends, uphold time-honored tra-
ditions, swap stories old and new, exchange gifts,
and welcome Jesus at the Christmas liturgy. These
are wonderful things! Of course, they probably all
come with their own to-do list. Shop for last-
minute gifts, pick up recipe ingredients, ready the
guest room, or pack your own bags. Mary proba-
bly had things to do as well. She had a lot to con-
sider, for one thing. How do you plan to tell your
parents you're pregnant, but no man was involved?
When Joseph finds out, who will care for the prac-
tical needs of you and your child? Into what may
have been a chaos of questions, Mary receives
news that someone is in need. She goes immedi-
ately.
In these final days before Christmas, stay watchful
and awake! You never know when God might
invite you to welcome, hospitality, and compas-
sion. It might be tempting to reject the opportunity
for your own needs. Follow the example of Mary!
If God is providing you an opportunity to love, He
will provide the means to accomplish all your oth-
er tasks. This Christmas season, may you too hear,
"Blessed are you who believed that what was spo-
ken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."

No
nados a esperar nuestra celebración navideña.
vientre!" LA OFICINA DE CATECISMO ESTARÁ
CERRADA EL LUNES 24 Y MARTES 25 DE
DICIEMBRE.

We are now oh so close to Christmas
and the excitement is growing. If you
have small children in your family, they
show you the loving expectation with
which we are meant to await our Christ-
mas celebration.
The eager expectation with which chil-
dren await gifts is the same “I can hard-
ly wait” longing that should be growing
in our hearts as we look forward to
Christ’s second coming. Do we hope for
the salvation of the whole world, believ-
ing Jesus will come again? Or do we
think our desires will never be satisfied?
Elizabeth met Mary’s visit with great
faith and humility. Are we ready now,
after four weeks of Advent, to welcome
Jesus and Mary afresh into our lives
with joy this Christmas? Elizabeth gives
us the words we need: “Blessed are you
among women and blessed is the fruit of
your womb!” THE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 24 AND TUESDAY, DECEMBER 25.
