“Come Lord Jesus” - “Maranatha” Rev 22:20

We profess in the Creed, "He ascended into Heaven."

Christ’s Ascension was the culmination of God’s Divine

plan for Jesus – his return to his Father with his “Mission

Accomplished." Ascension is the grand finale of all Jesus’

words and works done for us and for our salvation. The

feast of the Ascension celebrates one aspect of the

Resurrection, namely Jesus’ exaltation.

It is in the Ascension that we see Jesus entering fully into

the life and glory of God. In the descriptions of Christ

after his Resurrection, we are given a hint of what life will

be like in Heaven. The prospect of sharing that glory

should be the driving force of our lives. Jesus remains

accessible to us now in the life-giving Holy Spirit, assuring

us that one day we, too, will be ascending to Heavenly

glory, as we live out our faith every day.

It is possible for each of us to be transformed by the power of the Spirit into the

instruments of Christ. We become enlivened, and our actions become animated

in a new way by the Spirit of the God we love and serve.

Let us take up this challenge to give Christ to others!

SACRAMENTAL JOURNEY 2020: FAMILY ACTIVITY

Last week, all children enrolled for Confirmation, First Holy

Communion or Penance in 2020 should have written about their

sacred space at home and emailed through a photo to Father

Noy’s email [email protected].

We pray that this sacred space may be a place of comfort and

strength as we return to more normal routines.

The challenge this week: The Lord’s Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer, also known as the Our Father, is a prayer given

to us by Jesus to help us communicate with God. Just before

the words in the Bible, Jesus says ... Your Father knows what you

need before you ask! He then gives us the Our Father as the

“how to” in asking for help with all our needs.

This week, write the Lord’s Prayer into your book—you may even

like to write the words creatively with your artistic skills.

Also include information in your book about the following:

1. Why and when did Jesus teach the disciples this prayer?

2. Where can you find these words in the Bible?

3. As Catholics, when do we use this prayer? Why do you think we use it?

Loving regards

Fr Noyichan

Gradual Return to Mass—Stage 1: Safe Plan for our Community

With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions we will resuming Mass next week with an altered schedule. In line

with the Government’s social distancing guidelines, between now and Friday 12 June 2020, we are

allowed a maximum of 10 people in attendance at each Mass (including Father Noy).

This weekend, our RCIA candidates will be welcomed at 8am Mass in Gatton to celebrate the Word of

God and to continue their journey. Over the next few weeks, Mass times and availability will be noted in

the newsletter, with all parishioners invited to phone the Parish Office after 9am on the Monday to register

their expression of interest. First nine names received will be those attending. Please only book for 1 Mass.

At the time of booking, you will need to confirm your phone and address contact details. We are required

to maintain this information for 28 days for tracing purposes in the event of a positive COVID-19 case.

Please bring your ID to Mass in case of random police checks.

To give everyone the opportunity to register their name to attend Mass, bookings will only be taken by

phone. Of course, even if you make a booking, but if you wake up unwell, please do not come to Mass.

Mass times for next week: Safe Plan Protocols when attending Mass:

The Australian Catholic Bishops met recently (by videolink) and

have sent the following message to you ...

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect Australians’ lives,

including their worship, the Catholic bishops will entrust the

country to the care of Mary Help of Christians on her feast day

this weekend, seeking her intercession for the safety of all our

people especially in this time of COVID-19 pandemic.

In a message issued last week as “A word of encouragement to

the Catholic people of Australia”, the bishops noted that the country “has certainly suffered because of

the pandemic, but not as grievously as some other countries”. “For that we thank God and we

congratulate public health authorities and governments on their prompt and prudent responses,” the

bishops wrote. “Australians in general have also shown the solidarity and good sense, the generosity and

kindness needed in such a time. In our healthcare workers particularly we have seen an exceptional spirit

of self-sacrifice, and for that we are all grateful.”

“This has been a real deprivation, and the bishops understand not only your anxiety about the virus and

shutdown but more especially your deep desire to return to the sacraments and to resume public

worship,” they wrote. “There is a real hunger in this. It is something we all feel, and we long for the time

when our hunger will be satisfied as together we return to the feast of the Lord.” While there is “no room

for complacency” as Australia appears to emerge from the worst of the pandemic, “there is certainly

room for the hope that Easter brings to birth”.

May she who is Health of the Sick and Help of Christians pray for

us now, that we may see Jesus with her eyes, the eyes of Easter, and love him with her heart,

which is the heart of faith: “O Mother of the Word incarnate, despise not our petitions but in

your mercy hear and answer us” (Memorare).
