Prayer for Summer

Dear God, You made the four seasons. Each summer arrives as part of Your perfect pattern and will,

yet is unique unto itself. This summer, help me to see

not only the enjoyment of vacations, but the joy of Your will. Help me to feel not only the pleasure of a warm sun, but the contentment of a life guided by You. Help me to know, not only the satisfaction

of a project completed, but the fulfillment of a heart filled by You. Help me to see You in all things, Lord, in all the seasons of life You give us. Amen.

The office will be closed Tuesday, July 4.

Please call the rectory at 527-9778 if interested in purchasing any of these items. Thank you. Pierogi , Kapusta

The 2017 OLV Parish Festival was the most successful so far!

Dear OLV Parishioners & Friends: Not only did we enjoy the best weather we’ve ever had on Festi-val Day but also the Festival Day proceeds hit an all time high. Pre-Festival sales of raffle tickets were also strong. So, when the dust settles and all the numbers are added up, we believe this year’s Festival will set an all time record. This is a good thing since the monies the Festival generates are critical to the financial well being of our parish.

Now, all this could only happen with the hard work of a lot of parishioners who volunteered to do all the work neces-sary for a successful Festival. Their work began in mid-

May when cooks began making the Polish food and French meat pies that would feed the hungry masses. For most of June, a group of parishioners spent their weekends and evenings over at the REY building organ-izing the Giant Indoor Tag Sale. Then, during the week leading up to the Festival, a large contingent from our Knights of Columbus Council #1116 along with our parish staff prepared the grounds: setting up tables and chairs under the pavilion, putting up tents, setting up the game booths and making sure the beer wagon was perfectly positioned and leveled. On Festival Eve, a group of de-voted Women’s Club members cleaned and prepped eight pounds of freshly picked strawberries for the Pastry Shop’s ever popular Strawberry Shortcakes.

On Festival Day itself, an army of volunteers gathered along with early bird patrons for the Festival Mass, which was followed by the now famous Festival Pancake Break-fast. By 10AM patrons were coming in to enjoy breakfast, get their raffle tickets and checkout the Giant Indoor Tag Sale. At noon, the Kitchens opened up, the band, Union Jack, got set up and the Festival was officially in full swing.

When the Festival ended with the last raffle being pulled and the last sleepy child being tucked into their car seat for the ride home, the volunteer’s work still wasn’t done. Now it was clean-up time. To these few, these happy few, this band of brothers and sisters who cleaned up with us on Festival Day, we salute you.

We also wish to salute Tom Brown for once again coordi-nating the Festival. We are very grateful for our Festival Captains who head up the various Festival Departments: Peter & Cathy Brooks, Diane Brown, Chris Brown, Justin Brown, Chuck Growhoski, Richard & Diane Sadlowski. It was a great day for Our Lady of the Valley Parish...

and, oh yes, Frozen Festival Food is now on sale at the

parish rectory.
