A Family Perspective by Bud Ozar
After meeting Jesus, the Magi returned home by “another way.” What in your family needs to be done “another way?” Do you need “another way to resolve differences, to communicate or show affection? This is a new year, time to change what isn’t working. Take a tip from some wise men, there’s always “another way.”

Please prayerfully consider donating to our local food pantry, E.C.C.H.O. In addition to canned food
items and toiletries they are in need of gloves, coats, and hats. Also, toys for children would be

Reflection on the Extra Jubilee of Mercy
Whenever people want to experience God’s mercy firsthand, they need to become involved with the humble, where the overturning of people’s lives brings the wonder
and joy of Mercy. -Misericordiae Vultus

activity.
YOUTH MINISTRY NIGHT
On January 26th. at the Marshall Campus Center in Huntington, WV from 7:00—8:30 p.m. the Diocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and the missionaries from the Bishop Hodges Pastoral Center will be offering a program entitled Pursuit. This evening is an inspiring, fun and faith filled night for families and will include praise and worship music, prayer and content based on the Year of Mercy. It will be a great opportunity for parents and teenagers (7th.-12th. grade) to have a fun and spiritually enriching evening together. These regional gatherings were designed to supplement youth ministry in parishes which already have active youth ministry and to serve as a
model for those who do not. The evening is FREE.

The Holy Family of Jesus Mary and Joseph Cycle C
In the first reading we hear that “Whoever honors his father atones for sins, and preserves himself from them.” And “kindness to a father will not be forgotten, firmly planted against the debt of your sins.” Did you realize that in addition to prayer, fasting and almsgiving that honoring your parents atones for sins as well? How do we honor our parents?
The second reading reminds us to put on “heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another.” Sometimes the hardest ones to deal with are members of our personal family and our Christian family. How do we respond to those around us most often?
The Gospel relates one of the more traumatic experiences a family can have, a missing child. How do we respond to those whose family are going through difficult periods?
