Andrew is the Aussie bloke living in the U.S., Heather is the American gal living inAustralia; together they travel the world sharing strategies on how to put yourbusiness on autopilot. Doing business online is no longer about having a website. Toget more clients and take care o the ones you have, you!ll need a map. They!ve gotit. So, sit back and rela", and welcome aboard. This light is bound to Autopilot #our$usiness.

Andrew McCauley: %n today!s podcast, we are talking about the overwhelm that

    strikes everybody online.

MC: Have you picked up our online survival guide yet& 'et prepped or the uture o

online marketing by going to www.aybguide.com.

Andrew McCauley: Hey everybody( This is Andrew )c*auley. +elcome to odcast-( / +e are talking about overwhelm(

+hat happens when people go into overwhelm& Are you suering rom overwhelm& %think we all suer rom overwhelm somewhere along the way. There is so much to

learn, so much to do. How do you attack it& How do you make it work or you& Andhow do you take a breath and say, 0#ou know what& This is not so bad.1

Speaking o taking a breath, here comes the lovely Heather orter. Hey, H(

Heather Porter: Hello, Andrew, and hello hello everybody( How are you guys& %hope you!re well wherever you are in the world right now.

Andrew McCauley: How are you, H& +hat!s going on&

Heather Porter: #eah, %!m really good, actually. % think we!ve had a really goodweek, you know. +e!re doing, like, a rebrand o our business and we!re ocusing on

    our ne"t 234day plan and a lot o clarity. #ou know, it!s been good.

Andrew McCauley: %t has been good, actually, and % strongly suggest thatbusinesses do this sort o stu / this sort o stu meaning, you know, have a look, take a break, take a breath, have a look at what you!re doing, where you!ve been, and ind out where do you want to go rom there and then start to put it into plan.

#ou know, %!ve been doing that the last couple o days and we have a lot more couple

o days to go. $ut it!s 5ust given us a whole lot o clarity around what we want to doand how we want to go, what we want to do moving orward.

Heather Porter: % think it!s kind o a part o why we!ve 5ust come up with this whole

business overwhelm topic because we have so much we want to accomplish in thene"t year and, like anyone, you see all this stu that you want to accomplish and youget overwhelmed, but when you actually do e"ercises like chunking it down intoactually 234day chunks / and then, rom there, the bits that you have to do and howto actually accomplish each o those steps / it suddenly becomes clear and doablewhich is important.

Andrew McCauley: #ou know, we!ve looked at this / 5ust or people listening / welooked at what we were doing and we had a lot o things going on and someone saidto us, 06h, how do you keep up with it all&1 and we sort o shook our heads and said,

0+e 5ust do.1 $ut, realistically, it wasn!t good or us because we had too many7338398: unclear< and too many 7338398:= unclear< so we actually cut a lot othings out, you know, middle o last year. And, now, although, you know, we!ve got alot o things that we want to do this year, we believe that are all achievable withoutlosing ocus on what we need to get done.

    Heather Porter: >ery important.

    Andrew McCauley: #es.

Heather Porter: So, now, Andrew, what have you learned over the last week&

Andrew McCauley: 6h. +ell, % discovered something really, really cool.

    Heather Porter: 6h, okay.

Andrew McCauley: ?ow, % think many, many, many, many moons ago, % spoke

about one o my avorite apps on the laptop or on desktop called @nounce or)ySpeed where you could speed up videos and you could watch videos in a asterspeed. #ou know, because % love listening to videos, % watch videos all the time, especially educational ones. And, you know, sometimes, you don!t want to listen tothem at normal speed; you can actually take in the inormation aster than what theyspeak about.

Anyway, %!ve discovered a new app on the iad called Swit. Have you ever heard o

    this app&

Heather Porter: ?o. Does it do the same thing& Does it speed it up&

Andrew McCauley: So, it does the same thing, right& $ut it!s not 5ust videos; itdoes audios as well( And you can download movies, you can download in there, oryou can stream it straight rom a website whether it!s #ouTube or whatever or iTunes.

So, not only are you streaming this stu aster and taking it in, you can actuallybookmark sections to listen to it over again and again and again i you want to. $ut

Swit is a very, very cool app. %t is e"pensive though. %t!s going to cost you B.22 but,i you can aord that, then you are going to en5oy Swit because %!ve done, you

know, we did a lot o educational programs and memberships that we listen to and, sometimes, those videos won!t play on @nounce or )ySpeed. So, % play them on my

iad and now % can carry this stu around and watch whatever % want to watch insuper4ast speed which is pretty, pretty, pretty cool.

?ow, do you use anything like that& A speeding up device at all&

Heather Porter: ?o. #ou know, % don!t, and % know that you can take in inormationlike speed reading / you could take it in aster / and % guess it!s 5ust because %!ve

never gotten around to trying it out, but % can see how it could work. % think it wouldbe Cuite unny at the same time, initially / everyone!s talking like chipmunks.

Andrew McCauley: +ell, no, they!re not. That!s the thing. They!re not. See, they!vetaken the chipmunk ability out o it so you can actually listen to the person in normalspeed and it really makes sense because here!s what % like to do.

% like to go through a training and, you know, % used to sit there and take notes and,

as % get to the irst point, % would sit there and %!d pause and %!d write the notes downon my notepad or whatever. And then, ind out later on that that note wasn!t really as

important as the ne"t one and %!ve wasted time.

So, now, % like to go through this real ast, get the overview o it, and then go back /and maybe a touch slower / but write the notes knowing what!s coming up and %

think % get better notes now rom doing that because % can lick through it real Cuick.%nstead o an hour video, %!m watching it in, you know, 93 minutes or so, and % get areally good overview o it, and % don!t have to know every single thing that they say.% 5ust need to know the overview so then, when % go back and listen to it, % can write

notes and % know what!s coming.

Heather Porter: That!s a good little tip or those o us that are overwhelmed andthink, 06h, my gosh( % have so many videos % want to watch.1 )aybe trying a tool likethis could actually help you out because you!ll get through more o them aster.

Andrew McCauley: #es. So, Swit, shout out to Swit. 'ood 5ob, Swit( %!m veryhappy with your app so ar.

?ow, what about you& +hat did you learn& +hat did you discover this week&

Heather Porter: A discovery and a good one. #ou know, again, it kind o comes

back to that whole overwhelm thing, but %!ve had a ew people approach me thisweek saying, 06h( % got this website designed and %!m sitting here and % don! think it!s

actually doing anything or my business and % actually have no idea i everything!s inthe right place and even i %!ve written the right inormation on it in the irst place.1

And %!ve learned again this week that so many people, again, are so overwhelmed, they don!t know where to start when it comes to their online business. So, they kindo do things backwards. They!re looking or a web designer instead o a web strategist

irst, and they!re getting a website 5ust thrown together based on, you know, there!sloads o good designers out there / absolute kudos to all you guys / but % ind that

what works best is you have a strategist that then has a team or works with yourteam to get a web design created and that is a very speciic role / the web design /

and then the second set o that is one set!s actually created then you get a webcoder. % have ound that a lot o people are hiring web people that do both and it!ssuch a dierent skill set. % mean, you have your creative brain that does the designand then you need somebody that!s right up to date on the best coding or mobile733838B2 unclear< responsive design or things that look clean and proessional.

So, this week, % guess what % learned again is people are a lot o times going inbackwards when they really should be thinking bigger picture irst / a strategy and

the outcome o what they want online then inding the people that e"cel in dierentareas / strategist, web designer, and web programmer or web developer. % think thatis such a key thing or all business owners / 5ust having a team o those three aroundyou, whether you outsource them or you have them in your immediate team is great.#ou know, either way, it!s important to look at that.

Andrew McCauley: #eah, %!m glad you said that because, you know, people say,0*an you do all three&1 %!m like, 0?ot really,1 but, you know, we have a coder on our

team. He!s 5ust brilliant. He!s 5ust rock and roll, but he doesn!t do any design at all. He!s like, 0% don!t want to touch design.1

    Heather Porter: Shouldn!t.

Andrew McCauley: +e have a designer on our team who does stu and she!s like,

0% don!t want to touch coding. Don!t make me do coding,1 because they!re completelyopposites. And then, you know, you and % help out with strategy stu and neither ous really want to do any o those other two. So, i you get someone who says, 0% wantto do all three,1 it!s like, 0+ell1 #ou!re going to get a hal4baked 5ob on all three.

Heather Porter: Eust think twice. And, also, %!ll warn all o you guys as well. Here!s

another thing % learned this week. A lot o people are buying themes rom, like,ThemeForest and, you know, +ooThemes which % love / and we actually use a lot othese. However, they!re buying them and then they think that 5ust because that!show the demo looked on that particular site when they bought the site, that!s then, ocourse, where they!re supposed to put all their stu. The demos are displayed toshow you everything that that theme can do. That!s the idea o it. %t!s a portolio o

what that theme can do or your website / that look and eel o everything. $ut it!snot how you should be building your website based on your business and your

outcomes to convert and get leads. #ou can use these themes as a base. $ut, i you5ust take them out o the bo" and try and make it look like the demo, that!s

dangerous. #ou know, you!re not going to get what you want in your online business.

Andrew McCauley: #eah, that!s a good point. #ou know, the themes are ullyma"ed out. They have every bell and whistle they could possibly 7338328: unclearery, very, very true. There!s something very rewarding, guys,

about sitting down with a notepad or +ord open or your iad or whatever it is andliterally 5ust writing, 0+hat do % want to accomplish in a year& 23 days&1 and thenchunk it down into the actual dierent sections and what you need to do. That is avery un e"ercise and actually Cuite easy. %t seems, again, overwhelming. $ut, whenyou start to do that, you!re going to come out the other side thinking, 0% know what %stand or, % know what % want to achieve, and % / wow( / actually have steps to goater it.1
