All students should adhere to the following: • Students must have completed at least 1 semester
of studies at the point of application and at least 2 semesters at the point of admission to the host institution.
• Students with lower CGPA(Below Min CGPA 3.5) not able to go on GEM Explorer or GEM Study Abroad exchange should consider GEM Discoverer summer studies exchange(Min CGPA 2.5) for overseas exposure.

• Do not join in the semester if you are returning later than 4th weeks of semester.
• No need to pay NTU Tuition fee. But, you may have to pay nominal fee to keep your name on the register!

• Withdrawals from the GEM Explorer Exchange programme only applies after students have accepted their Allocation Offer. Actions prior to that, such as cancelling your online application or rejecting an Allocation Offer by the deadline, are NOT considered a withdrawal and will NOT incur any penalties or affect priority for future applications.
• Penalty: – S$500 and/or – Lower priority for future GEM Explorer’s application

• All students will read and transfer a maximum of 21 AUs of courses (excluding laboratory courses)
• A maximum of 24 AUs of courses (including laboratory courses) – is granted only for ABP/DDP/IP/double major students.

• The minimum grade to be counted for credit(AU) transfer has to be equitable to a Pass grade at the host university.
• All Pass and Fail grades will be reflected in Degree Audits and transcripts.
• Eg. Student asked: “National Cheng Kung University(NCKU) Taiwan, Passing grade=60 and above but NTU’s 40 and above (for a ‘D’). Will the course be transferred as ‘Pass’ if I get 55 in NCKU?”
• Answer = No. (refer above) 17
The decision to approve/reject each course matching is not restricted to, but is largely based on the following factors:
1. Match in content (approximately 75% match) 2. Number of contact hours 3. The course must have some form of assessment
(e.g. test, projects, exam etc)
**Students are discouraged from reading courses that are pitched at the postgraduate level

***Note that not all approved course matchings found in the CourseFinder will be approved again as we are constantly reviewing our curriculum.

• A pre-requisite may be read concurrently with the immediate downstream course only if this pre-requisite is classified as a “read-only” pre-requisite instead of having necessary to pass.

• Students who attend an overseas semester can read any Major PE, regardless of offering semester in MA. (refer to MA48XX courses in the course content page)
• ME students who read the Aeronautical Engineering specialisation may read any Major PE offered to AE students, provided all necessary pre-requisites are met.

• Lab components may be considered for mapping lab course. Only 1 lab course matching is required in the course matching system. A minimum of 30 lab hours is required for approval. 27

From AY2015/16 onwards, MA0101 Engineers and Society cannot be read overseas.

• All examinations (main, supplementary or otherwise) for courses offered by the host university will have to be taken at the host university, not in NTU.
• Requests/ Appeals to sit for host university’s exams in NTU will not be entertained.
• If you fail the course, you will have to retake the course in NTU. Request to re-sit host university’s paper in NTU will not be entertained.

• Early Examination Request at the host university or any other special requests are subject to approval by the host university and NTU.
• Transcripts must indicate all courses that have been read, including any failed courses.

• Please upload transcript into system after you have received from the host university.
• Credit transfer requires a considerable amount of time and effort. Credit transfer records submitted for exchange in previous semester will be updated by the end of the following semester after necessary checks, if any.

• If you have taken a pre-requisite course during exchange, your credit transfer will not be on time for your course registration in NTU.
