The first feature is a wireframe offset of the winding surface. The wireframe was createdby offset and smoothing to remove “fold-over” problems in the inboard region.

Link to winding surface geometry (ibl, igs).

A surface and thin protrusion are created using the wireframe curves. Several copiesof the surface are also made for later use.

A preferred method for this feature is a “blend-from-file” that has curves everytwo deg in the toroidal direction. The surface can then be updated by replacingthe referenced .ibl file. See ws_off55.ibl as an example.

Next features are flanges and tee. The tee is copied from se141-013_tee.prt, and ismade as a variable section sweep using two trajectory curves.

The trajectory curves have been revised. The new curves are called wc3_e04 (ibl, igs)and xv3_e04 (ibl, igs).

The wings are added by trimming the copied surfaces.

A preferred method would be to make the “blend-from-file” surface large enough to include the wings. The surface would need to move in/out to accommodate the wings of the adjacent coils. See next slide as an example.
