Remember the men and women in the Armed Forces and all who protect us and put themselves in harm’s way on our behalf; may they be shielded from danger;

and for their families and loved ones. In particular, Andrew Anderson, Christopher Blasius, C. J. DelVaglio, Samantha Krom, Christian Legaspe, Steven Nolan and Jeffrey S. Wilson Jr.

To speak of many things...

We welcome

with great joy!

Greyson Nicholas Yahn Son of Bruce Yahn and

GeorgiaLynn Vlahakis Yahn baptized into the Catholic faith on

March 17, 2018. May the good Lord continue to bless

Greyson and his family.

As we celebrate Palm Sunday we enter into the final days of lent and look forward to the Sacred Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. These days offer us an opportunity to gather together as a family of faith and

focus on the events that occurred prior to the resurrection of the Lord. Let our prayer during these remaining days of Lent continue to be those of hope and anticipation — renewed in the grace of the season, as we look forward to our celebrations of Holy Week and Easter. May God guide and inspire us on our journey! Holy Week services begin with the celebration the Institution of the Eucharist on Holy Thursday, the Passion of the Lord on Good Friday, the Great Vigil of Easter on Holy Saturday with the lighting of the new fire and listening to Scripture surrounding our salvation history and the resurrection of Christ at Easter. I hope you will be able to participate in these holy days and be revitalized in our faith by the tremendous love God has for us. The Annual Easter egg hunt will take place on Easter immediately following the 10:30am Mass. Fun for all ages 3 through 10. A contribution of juice boxes or cookies is appreciated. The egg hunt begins in Doran Hall right after Mass. Remember to bring your own bag or basket.

Continued Lenten Blessings, Fr. Fred

Thank you, Thank you,

Thank you!!!

The 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal is currently underway throughout the Diocese of Bridgeport. Our Appeal goal is $60,000. To date, we have raised 72 pledges in the amount of $28,615.00 bringing us to over 47 percent of goal. To all who have made their pledge, I thank you! Please consider making a pledge to the appeal to help in reaching our goal. A pledge of $100.00 is only 25 cents a day. Every pledge is important and needed to help reach our goal. We are hoping for increased participation. Remember… no gift is too small or insignificant. On behalf of all whom the Appeal benefits, I thank you.

PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD Our humanity bleeds through today's Gospel passages in more ways than one. We see both elation and fall, hope in the midst of the darker sides of our natures. If we allow it, these Gospels hold a mirror to our own fickle hearts. The crowds cry "Hosanna" and the Apostles profess allegiance unto death. In a manner of days - even hours - Jesus is betrayed, abandoned, denied, condemned, tortured, and executed. As God, he could have stopped this horrific narrative from unfolding, but he doesn't. He allows free will to play itself out. There are nearly two millennia between this spectacle and us. We can stand safely removed, if we choose. But Lent invites us to return to this story. Lent invites us to find ourselves in the people we encounter there. Are we the repentant woman at Bethany? Are we naysayers of such lavish piety? Have we acted in a way that betrays those we love or denies what we know to be good and true? Have we fallen asleep in our faith? Have we unfairly accused others of a crime or immorality we imagine, though perhaps they didn't commit? Do we help others carry their burdens? Do we stand in solidarity with those who suffer? Do we care for the dying? This week, take up today's Gospel again. Look carefully at the Passion narrative and sit with it in silence. Find yourself in the story and ponder its meaning for your own life. Journey with Jesus to the foot of the Cross so that you too may say, along with the faithful centurion, "truly this man was the Son of God!"

We are in need of volunteers for all of our weekend liturgies. Please kindly consider being involved in one of these ministries as a lector, in proclaiming the Word of God. As a

Eucharistic Minister in the distribution of communion. As an usher or Greeter. As an altar server in service at the altar. No experience necessary… just a kind heart and a willingness to serve and become involved in our Parish. Thank you! Call the Parish Office to volunteer your service.

Prayer List? If you or someone you know would like to be included on the prayer list, call the Parish Office. The individual will remain on the prayer list for three weeks. Please contact the Parish Office to update the prayer list.

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

Today some of the most poignant themes of human life come into clear central focus: the feeling of being praised and honored, fear, anxiety, betrayal, despair, doubt, uncertainty, trust, hope, sadness, separation, suffering, death, determination, and courage. These are the emotions and realities that every human being wrestles with often. Jesus, the Son of God, encounters them all. As we journey through life, we have to confront the existential meaning of each of these things. How do they fit into the bigger picture? Jesus shows us most clearly that even those things we fear the most lose their power when we discover that we are being led to new life. Suffering is redemptive. Sin and death give way to grace and life and God's unconditional love conquers all. May we see in Jesus' Way of the Cross the path of truth we all must follow.

Holy Week On Sunday, March 25 during regular class time, the fourth and fifth grades will explore the ‘Sorrowful Walk’ of Jesus through a reflection on the Stations of the Cross. On Tuesday, March 27 during regular class time, the middle school classes will experience an evening of prayer which includes the Passion of the Lord, Eucharistic adoration, and benediction. Parents are welcome. No Faith Formation Classes Due to the Easter holiday and spring break, there are no Faith Formation classes on the following dates: Sunday, April 1; Tuesday, April 3 Sunday, April 8; Tuesday April 10 Classes will resume the week of Sunday, April 15. The Easter lesson booklet will be sent home during class on March 25. Children and parents should complete the lesson at home. The Prayer Wall and Sacred Art Gallery in Doran Hall Please add your prayers to our prayer wall. Also, check out our gallery of saints and holy ones – posters created by our candidates for Confirmation. Family Scripture Reflection: Gospel Mark 15:1-39 (adapted from Sadlier) This Palm Sunday reading of the Passion of the Lord is taken from Mark's Gospel. It was the first written account of how Jesus suffered and died. It is also the shortest version of the Passion and is written almost like a newspaper story that presents "just the facts." The most important truth Mark wants to communicate is that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, whose suffering leads to glory. When Jesus cries out from the cross, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Psalm 22:1), he is praying in the words of the psalmist who continues to trust God even when all seems hopeless. Question of the Week: How will you show this week that you honor Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God?
