Where is she now? Jennyleth currently works at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, an international law firm in Downtown Los Angeles, in the Client Finance department. She is a Portfolio Coor-dinator working directly with the department’s Director on collecting her multi-million dollar accounts receivable portfolio. Additionally, she spearheads the depart-ment’s special projects which have included the redevelopment of web-based Collections Application, developing an on boarding process for new employees, and managing the depart-ment's transition to partnerships. In her position, Jennyleth has had the op-portunity to learn the complexities of a large law firm's billing and collections process that blends both her interest in law and business.

Any advice for current P4 members?“A strong GPA and a strong network are two important things you can work on in your undergraduate career. Make sure you focus on balancing your academics with your curricular activities. Learn to network effectively and take advantage of the events available to you at CAL and P4.”

Non-Profit Panel: Blast from the Past

On March 7th, P4’s Associate Meeting turned into a “blast from the past” through a live, non-profit panel with Cal alumni, who spoke about their experiences after they gradu-ated. Several individuals pro-vided advice and tips regarding work, volunteer opportunities, and internships in the growing non-profit industry. Wally Abrazaldo spoke

about his work at an inter-national literacy promoting organization. Camille Guiriba shared with us her experiences work-ing in city planning in regards to transportation. Frances Pomperada spoke about her experiences working for the San Francisco Asian American Film Festival,

Daniel Galeon

Served as: Director of External Affairs- Law (Spring 2007), Director of Public Relations and Marketing (Fall 2006). Graduated in 2007 with Honors in Legal Studies.

Where is he now? Daniel is currently an Analyst in the Portfolio Management Group for BlackRock, a global investment management firm. In his role, he supports the cash management and fixed income securities lending business in the US. Prior to joining BlackRock, he was a Product Specialist with Barclays Global Investors, where he also had the opportunity to work in London, United Kingdom in 2009 with Barclays Capital, a global investment bank. Outside of work, Daniel serves on the Board of Directors for K to College, an education non-profit, and is currently a VITA Savings Specialist for the East Bay Asian Local Development Cor-poration, where he assists low-income tax clients in financial planning and savings.

Proudest achievement since graduating Cal:“Further developing my business acumen and le-veraging the opportunity to work abroad (a must for careers in Finance).”

Advice for current P4 members?“Continue thinking ‘outside of the box’ in terms of your careers and what you’ve set out to do for yourself. Remember everyone’s career paths are different and there is no right answer on how to get there; only you can determine this pathway.”

while Cristal Fiel also talked about her experiences working for an arts non-profit organization and the San Francisco arts commission. Adrien Sala-zar shared his experi-ences working with Chinatown housing. Being an organization that caters to those interested in the fields of business and law, we were lucky to hear about Vaugh Vil-laverde’s experiences regarding his work

with a non-profit law center. To provide an alternative perspec-tive concerning the public sector, Lisa Ang shared her stories about the benefits and fulfilling experiences she has had working for the San Francisco Mayor’s office. It was in-teresting to see how many of these individ-uals continue to still work with one another and support each other’s events within the non-profit sector. The panel

served as a great way for P4 members and members of our com-munity to receive advice and tips on how they can prepare for a career in the non-profit industries as well as how to go about find-ing possible volunteer opportunities and internships within these sectors. It was also a great way to reconnect and maintain our rela-tionships with past Cal alumni.

Partner Spotlight

Anh VuMedia Studies | 3rd year

Post college plans: After college, I’d like to get a job in marketing, possibly in brand management. Then somewhere along the future, go back to school and get my MBA.

Pre-Professional Tip: Always build rapport within the first 5 minutes of your interview. It could make or break it!

Favorite place to kick it with friends (in Berkeley): Other than my apartment, I like to chill with friends at some of the local res-taurants around Berkeley. It’s always nice to hang out with friends while grabbing some-thing at Durant Food Court or DowntownBerkeley.

Song you have been listening to a lot late-ly: Black Eyed Peas - Just Can’t Get Enough

A movie is being made about your life, who do you want to play you? Kristen Bell or Tina Fey! - funny and classy women.

As Directors of Finance, what are your goals for P4 in this 2010-2011 school year? This year I really want to establish a corporate sponsorship program for P4. My goal is to have a solid means of funding for the organization and hopefully we can build strong relationships with these companies for the future.
