You changed my mourning into dancing; O LORD, my God, forever will I give you thanks.

— Psalm 30:13

Wednesday, July 4, 2018 PARISH OFFICES CLOSED

Are You Going On Vacation? Many of our parish families are planning to get away for some summer fun and relaxation in the next few months. We pray that your vacation time will be safe and a source of many happy memories. However, please do not take your parish offering with you. Each summer our parish office struggles to juggle the bills as Sunday offerings decrease significantly. If you find that you tend to forget your envelope more often during the less structured weeks of summer, please consider our electronic giving program. Go to www.faithdirect.net, Church Code:NJ62. It’s simple! It’s safe! And it keeps God at the top of your giving list even when you are away!

Independence Day Prayer

Lord, we stand today as our forefathers have stood before You in times gone by, celebrating our history and recalling all the great things that our country has achieved. On this day we rejoice in the favor You have graciously given us. We thank You for the blessings of liberty, for this genera-tion and for the generations to come. We thank You for our independence, peace and for all those who have bravely given their lives in the defense of freedom and justice. We thank You that Your gracious and provident hand has given us so much. Yet as a nation and people we have not always chosen the right way. We ask You to forgive us for these times. On this day we commit ourselves to wholeheartedly honoring and serving You. With everything that we are, we lay our lives before You. Make us a generous people, A holy nation, a people set aside to love You forever, For the sake of the land of the brave and free, And the peoples and nations of this world. Today, we do not presume Your grace for our country. Our land is in need of You, Our people are in need of You, Our industry and business is in need of You. May we look only to You This Independence Day, dependent on You. Please come now by Your glorious Holy Spirit, Breathe new life into the sinews of this nation. May justice flow like rivers, And righteousness like a never failing stream, Until the whole of our country is covered with Your glory, As the waters cover the sea. We ask all this in the wonderful name of Jesus, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit. One God, now and for all eternity. Amen. (a modern prayer for the United States of America from www.lords-prayer-words.com)

2018 Mission Trip

Notre Dame Church has been sending teens on mission trips to areas affected by natural disasters for over 14 years. This year twenty-two teens and eight chaperones will head to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in July to build homes in conjunction with the Saint Bernard Project. Baton Rouge was hit hard with major flooding in 2016 and recovery efforts continue. While the teens are responsible for a large portion of their travel costs the balance of costs for the trip and those for the chaperones are covered through donations and fundraising. In order to provide our teens with the most enjoyable and fulfilling mission trip we are still looking for additional donations to our group. Any amount is greatly helpful and appreciated. Additional information and donation forms are available at the doors of the church or on our website www.ndparishnc.com. Your continued support of this ministry is appreciated.

Our next Prayer Shawl Meeting will be on Monday, July 2, 2018

2:00 pm in the Chapel.

“Happy Summer to the families of religious education.

RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Our Church’s Way of Welcoming New Members In his ministry, Jesus invited his listeners to follow in his footsteps.

How can we invite others to hear the message of Jesus Christ and to consider becoming part of our Church community?

Our parish’s RCIA team sponsors opportunities throughout the year for adults who would like to hear more about Jesus and the way in which we as a church celebrates our beliefs in Jesus Christ. If you or someone you know who is unbaptized, baptized into another Christian denomination or is a baptized Catholic who has not celebrated their Confirmation and/or Eucharist, please share this information with them. Our parish welcomes them to inquire into our faith and to consider participating in the RCIA process here at Notre Dame Church.

Our RCIA Director, Anita Foley, will be happy to contact anyone in-quiring into our faith. Anita can be reached at [email protected], 973-228-3338, X125). Thank you for sharing this invitation to inquire with those you know. Dominican Film Festival 2018

Wednesday - July 11, 2018 Economic Justice - Inequality for All (April 2013) Inequality for All (April 2013) is narrated by Robert Reich, professor and secretary of labor under Bill Clinton. The middle class is struggling. The 400 richest Americans have more money than the bottom 150 MILLION combined. Who is looking out for the American worker? What is causing the country’s widening income gap? This film attempts to answer these questions and more about the increase of inequality in America.

Wednesday - July 18, 2018 Trafficking - How to Spot Human Trafficking How to Spot Human Trafficking is presented by TEDx George School. Kananin Titchen is the presenter who gives an overview of the signs to be aware of and suggestions concerning how to report a possible case of trafficking.

Wednesday - July 25, 2018 Immigration/Migration - Dying to Live: A Migrant’s Journey Dying to Live: A Migrant’s Journey is a profound look at the human face of the migrant. It explores who these people are, why they leave their homes and what they face in their journey. Drawing on the insights of Pulitzer Prize winning photographers, theologians, church and congressional leaders, activists, musicians, and the immigrants themselves, this film explores the places of conflict, pain and hope along the US-Mexican border. It is a reflection on the human struggle for a more dignified life and the search to find God in the midst of it all.
