In approaching the Feast of Jesus Christ the King of the Universe, the end of the liturgical year, the readings highlight an ominous tone of great warning and consolation. Jesus declares to His followers that there will be great disaster, struggles, suffering, and persecution for the faithful. His advice for us is to not worry about the consequences delivered on to us but to trust in Him. A critical investigation of the gospel ought to lead us to the apparent contradiction that “they will put some of you to death” versus “by your perseverance you will secure your lives”. How can both be true? Well the entire gospel message is about the faithful participating in the divine life of God. Life in the world is temporary however life in God is immortal. Owning this truth, changes everything and how we live in the world. This can free us from the enslavement of sin and the material preoccupation of the world through the sacramental life in Jesus. Even death in this world is of no consequence the faithful who share the divine life of Christ. Unfortunately, this freedom which Christianity offers is being rejected in society and governmental politics resulting in many of the difficulties described in the Gospel. Why? Because there is a great fanaticism growing from a reasoned beginning to a destructive irrational cult of an end perceiving our purpose and fulfillment com-ing from the world itself. This fanaticism is a platform for atheism, pagan worship of the earth, and self-hatred of human life. For example, it is reasonable to want clean air, clear water, and healthy wild habitats for today and for future generations. This I adamantly support. Abuse of our world should not be tolerated which is a principal we can all generally support. Determining what is abusive, or not, however can be challenging. Unfortunately, stopping abuse is not the primary goal pushed by the “Environmental” movement; rather, downright environmentally damaging policies and practices are actually pushed by this fanaticism and the politics of it. Renewable energy is so often a banner call of the Environmentalist pushing for solar and wind power as the future for the earth. Not so, they fail to point out the impracticality of generating energy with in the dark or when the wind does not blow. Or that, in Germany’s commitment to renewables has increased their use of natural gas versus France which has a minimal environmental impact due to their wise use of nuclear power. Environmental fanatics do not acknowledge the vast destruction to animal habitats due the land required for solar and wind power. They push for a religious fanatical commitment to the earth while denying the divine design and care of God. Humanity is demonized as a plague upon the earth which should be dramatically reduced by means of abortion, contracep-tion, and euthanasia. This Environmental fanaticism has reached a fever pitch of ridiculousness and self-absorption. They now predict the end will be in twelve years due to the fault of humanity. What hubris! Like all the environmental alarmists of the past the predictions have been wrong and this one is clearly flawed. Look, real improvements can be made for the environment and humanities energy needs; but, the next fad of renewables subsidized by the government won’t be it; but rather continued use of oil (the second must abundant liquid on earth) and nuclear power is most the reasonable for the near future. It is far more just to make electric-ity rather than bombs with radioactive material. All the waste is able to be monitored, stored, and there are promising technologies for use of nuclear waste has mini-batteries, for example. Fundamentally whether the end is in twelve years or billions of years, as faithful Catholics we do not fear or succumb to the hysteria of fanatics. The world will be transformed from this present existence and be united to the divine at the end of time. Christ has saved us and is preparing a place in the eternal Father’s house for the faithful. Let us prudently live in the world but not be of the world.

Al acercarse a la Fiesta de Jesucristo, el Rey del Universo, el final del año litúrgico, las lecturas destacan un tono ominoso de gran advertencia y consuelo. Jesús declara a sus seguidores que habrá grandes desastres, l uchas, sufrimiento y persecución para los fieles. Su consejo para nosotros es no preocuparse por las consecuencias que se nos imponen, sino confiar en Él. Una investigación crítica del evangelio debería llevarnos a la aparente contradicción de que "ellos matarán a algunos de ustedes" a "por su perseverancia asegurarán sus vidas". ¿Cómo pueden ambos ser verdad? Bueno, todo el mensaje del evangelio trata sobre los fieles que participan en la vida divina de Dios. La vida en el mundo es temporal, sin embargo, la vida en Dios es inmortal. Poseer esta verdad, cambia todo y cómo vivimos en el mundo. Esto puede liberarnos de la esclavitud del pecado y la preocupación material del mundo a través de la vida sacramental en Jesús. Desafortunadamente, detener el abuso no es el objetivo principal impulsado por el movimiento "ambiental"; más bien, las políticas y prácticas francamente perjudiciales para el medio ambiente en realidad son impulsadas por este fanatismo y su política. La energía renovable es tan a menudo un llamado de atención de los ambientalistas que presionan por la energía solar y eólica como el futuro de la tierra. $20 per child if you register by Nov. 29th
$25 per child at the door
Your ticket includes: 4 crafts, a child’s dinner, treat to feed
mini cows, and a picture with the emperor.
Registration forms are available in the Narthex.
Our goal is to provide an interactive
experience of Bethlehem during the time of Jesus’ birth.
All are invited
You are encouraged to come dressed in biblical attire
for the occasion.

community. The Fall Food Drive will take place
next weekend. The bags for your donations are
being distributed today after Mass. The bags will
give you a list of the desired items. Please be
generous with your contribution. This is your
opportunity to share your bounty and blessings with those
who are in need.
THE GIVING TREE
For many years St. Stephen Parish has come to-gether with our traditional St. Vincent de Paul Giv-ing Tree. The Giving Tree provides a way for pa-rishioners to help those in need in our community. Next weekend, the Giving Tree will be in the Nar-thex of the church. If you wish to participate, please take one or two of the tags from the tree and pur-chase toy for this child. The tag will have the age & gen-der of a child in need of gifts. Please return your UN-WRAPPED toy to the Narthex by the due date (December 8th). Please remember to pray for all those who are less fortunate this holiday season. Thank you!

Durante muchos años, la parroquia de San Esteban se ha unido con nuestro árbol de donación tradicion-al de San Vicente de Paúl. El Árbolito de Dar propor-ciona una forma para que los feligreses ayuden a los necesitados en nuestra comunidad. El próximo fin de semana, el árbolito de dar estará en el átrio de la iglesia.
