1. I will make sure my child has punctual and consistent daily attendance at school. 2. I will read with my child every night f or 30 minutes, f ocusing on the f ollowing:
a) Fluency while Reading (10 minutes) The child reads smoothly to the parent.
b) Story Comprehension (15 minutes) The child reads a book. The adult will ask questions before, during, and af ter reading the
book. Repeat the same process with a diff erent book.
c) Retelling/ Summarizing (5 minutes) The child retells the story, including character names, to the parent. The retell should
include the beginning, middle, and end of the story. d) Writing (10 minutes) – (on Thursdays in place of “Retelling/ Summarizing”)
The child writes a paragraph retelling the story they read or writing about a connection they have to the book.

Report--Class Broken Down By Goal
1. Go to www.nwea.org 2. Click on Report Log-In 3. Type in your username and password (see above) 4. Scroll down and click on Class by RIT (on the left side) 5. Make sure your name is in the drop down boxes and then
click SUBMIT. 6. Then a report will come up with your class, categorized by
the RIT level. 7. If you would like to look at the specific strands, click on the
subject. For example if you would like to look at the strands for reading, then in the left column of the report click on READING.
8. This report breaks the students into groups based on the score in each strand. (intervention and enrichment groups)
9. If you would like to print this report then you can click on the Adobe Reader icon above the report.
Helpful Hints: ** The number beside the students name is the actual score; however the student may have scored lower or higher for that specific strand. **If you click on the strand, in the column on the left, an adobe file will open the students in RIT order and also the DesCartes needed for that strand.
DesCartes
1. Go to www.nwea.org 2. Click on Report Log-In 3. Type in your username and password (see above) 4. Scroll down and click on DesCartes (on the left side) 5. In the first box select the subject you are targeting. (look at
the class broken down report) 6. In the second box select the strand you are targeting. 7. In the third box select the RIT Range you are targeting. 8. Once you have clicked on the RIT Range an Adobe file will
open with the DesCartes.
Helpful Hints: **The column labeled Enhance are skills the student is able to retain and maintain. **The column labeled Develop are skills the student is ready to learn now. **The column labeled Introduce are skills the student may be ready to learn soon.
