Jeff Smith

Principal

Welcome back to our 2020 school year. We have got off to a

positive start within the school community and extended

Alumni Family.

We would like to further promote our relationship proactively

for our Alumni to be involved with the school community,

through two specific initiatives, the first being the Breakfast

Club and demonstrating their contribution to the Breakfast Club

by funding, alternatively, donating of food items. Secondly, the

opportunity to support our Careers Team with taking on our

students for work experience. This gives students an insight to

the world of careers and work life and is a valuable method of

learning for students.

Already we have had a successful event with the 1990’s reunion,

with upcoming events in May and October 2020.

Our school continues to be used widely by the broader community at large, and we

offer this support as part of our community base. We are strongly committed to the

holistic development of our students, through classroom learning, and encouraging

their participation in the many sporting and cultural activities, spiritual and service

commitments, and social activities within our extended school environment.

We highly value our connection with the PHS Alumni and look forward to your

ongoing support of the school.

Papanui High School Breakfast Club

Any donations of unwanted blenders would also be greatly appreciated. These

would be useful for making smoothies and such. All donations can be delivered to

the Alumni office in A-block, entrance opposite the library.

Papanui High School has recently implemented a program providing nutritious

breakfasts for those students in need of assistance.

The Papanui High School Alumni Association is keen to proactively support the school

in this endeavour and would like to invite alumni to make whatever donations of food

products they can.

Examples of the types of food products the school is looking for

include:

Breakfast cereals (Weetbix, Cornflakes, Ricies etc)

Milk

Bread

Bread spreads (Margarine, Marmite, jam etc)

Canned & fresh fruits (fruits from gardens would be great!)

Because young people of today are apparently undergoing some sort of biological

evolution from previous generations of human beings, we would ask that any

food products containing peanuts or honey be avoided.

Opportunity to Support Papanui High School Careers

Department

Students are placed with an employer one day a week for a period of at least six weeks,

where they have an industry based learning plan and gain credits towards their NZQA

record of learning. If this sounds like something you could offer our students, please

contact Bev Gordon (Gateway Co-ordinator) at [email protected] or 021 226 6119.

The Papanui High School Careers Department are always seeking viable opportunities

for students participating in the Gateway Program work experience in various industries.
