• Tests: 50%; Class 30%, Portfolio 10%, HW 10%

• Retake or revise any assignment earning less than a 75 (“Incomplete”)

• I expect any student with an overall course average of less than 75 to see me at least once a week for 9th period extra help (I’ll call you)

What they read is probably less important than how

they read(Students need) sustained experiences with diverse texts in a variety of genres and offering multiple perspectives on real life experiences. Although many of these texts will be required by the curriculum, others should be self-selected and of high interest to the reader. Wide independent reading develops fluency, builds vocabulary and knowledge of text structures and offers readers the experiences they need to read and construct meaning with more challenging texts.
