* * * * * * * * The Society for the

Propagation the Faith Second Collection Today!

Some people give by “going” to Mission countries, some by “giving”. The Society requires both! THANKS.

We welcome to our parish Fr. Ugo Naccirone, S.J., who is preaching at all Masses today on behalf of the Propagation of the Faith. Born in Brooklyn, Father entered the Jesuits in 1950, was ordained in 1964, completed Jesuit formation and was missioned to Africa 1n 1967. He remained there for 40 years! Welcome, Father! Thanks for your life’s dedication!

What’s Happening with Our Capital Campaign Project?

We have some good news regarding our Temp-erature Stabilization Project. We are pleased to announce that, after careful review: (1) the Archdio-cese has granted approval for our project. (2) our Project Manager, Dave Minevini, and our team of engineers (C&F Consulting Engineering, PC) have submitted the plans to New York City for approval and permitting. (3) Once we receive the approval and permits, we will be able to announce a start date. We thank you once again for your tremendous generosity during the Renew + Rebuild campaign and especi-ally your continued stewardship in honoring your pledges. Your faithfulness allows us to move forward, boldly, and begin this exciting project. Thank you!

An Evening of Arias & Art Songs by Dvorak, Strauss, Puccini,

and Verdi

* * * * * * * * A Singular Celebration!

Join us for the final Musica Trinitatis concert of the season, next Sunday, May 20th at 7:00 PM. We are most happy to announce that this will be a recital by our own Michelle Repella. For TEN years, we have been uplifted spiritually and musically by Michelle’s magnificent voice, both as cantor and Schola Cantorum member. Her credits to date are numerous. Michelle has sung both domestically and abroad with some of the most prestigious ensembles, including the Dresden and New York Philharmonics, toured with Andrea Bocelli, and has sung backup for Denyse Graves, Jesse Norman, and Paul Simon in concert, to name but a few. We hope to see you there!

Happy Mother’s Day! Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in our parish, in your extended families and throughout God’s beautiful world! It is said, mothers are the most “godlike” creatures ever made. Listen to Isaiah:

God says to Zion [his People] who believe he has forgotten them,

“Can a MOTHER forget her infant, Be without tenderness for the child of her womb?

Even should YOUR MOTHER forget, I will never forget you. Look, I have written your name on the palm of my hand!” Isaiah 49:15f

Mother’s Day envelopes may be found at the back of the church for your convenience. You may write the names of all the mothers of your extended family, both living and deceased, and drop it into any collec-tion basket. They will be placed on the altar and where the Celebrants will remember your mothers at each of their Masses in May. It’s an old, comforting custom.

Sophia, ChurchMouse Reporting unseen works of faith, hope and charity to uplift you.

God always answers believers’ prayer requests! But how he answers our requests is interesting. (1) Yes [This is good for you and I love you!] (2) No [This is not good for you and I love you!] (3) Later [Trust me and I love you very much!]

“When Someone Asks You” LEAFLET Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15

The fourth in a series of the one-page, easy-to-understand leaflets, penned by Mgr. Sandi, will appear as an insert in this Bulletin on May 20th, Pentecost Sunday. WORDS Heard at the Liturgy lists a simple glossary of 90+ words and phrases we hear and say all the time at Mass but are not necessarily under-stood. Enjoy!

Previous leaflets, inserted in the Bulletin over the last three years, have been very much appreciated: #1 FACTS Every Catholic Should Know #2 EXPLANATIONS Catholics Should Know #3 MORAL Principles Catholics Should Know The fifth leaflet is in the planning stages: #5 SYMBOLS Seen in Catholic Churches

Second Collection Next Week Please note that we will have a second, combined collection next week for the Church in Latin America and the Home Missions. There are special envelopes at the entrance of the church.

London by Night - A Cabaret Experience We are uniquely fortunate to have in our parish some very talented people who are willing to share their gifts with us. One such is Kerrin Perkins, a member of our Contemporary Choir for the past 23 years, who will be premiering her latest CD at the renowned Don’t Tell Mama on West 46th Street this Wednesday, May 18th, starting at 7:00 PM. Not to be missed! For more info and reservations: www.donttellmamanyc.com.
