Keeping Our Promise to Protect

If you would like to volunteer at one or several of our Parish gatherings, please contact Susan Urso, at 412-486-4100 or Jan Kowalski at 412-486-6700, Safe Environment Administrators. In our Offertory Collection, if we receive an envelope from

Retirement Fund for Religious Next Weekend

In the United States today, numerous Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests past age 70 benefit from the Retirement Fund for Religious collection. Donations to this special collection provide funding that helps religious communities care for senior members and plan for long-term

retirement needs. Next weekend, November 23/24, 2019, all parishes in the Diocese of Pittsburgh will take up the annual collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious, an opportunity for you to acknowledge the thousands of senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests for their faithful service. Whether or not we realize it, we are all beneficiaries of the tremendous contributions these women and men have made to the Church in the United States. Through hard work, prayer, and sacrifice, they built Catholic schools and hospitals, initiated programs to promote social justice, and ministered to the neediest among us. Today, many religious communities struggle to care for their elderly members. Elder sisters, brothers, and religious order priests dedicated their lives to service and prayer, and some lack adequate retirement savings. Increasing health-care costs and decreased income make it difficult to provide necessary medical care, costly medications and basic services. Please consider making a financial gift to assist with the care of our senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests. Many thanks for considering this request.

Christmas Cash Bash – December 6, 6 - 10PM

Sales for the Christmas Cash Bash are going very well! So well that we have to stop sales of the “event” ticket because we are at capacity for the St. Ursula Social Hall. However, you can still participate in: • The "raffle only" ticket for $20 (i.e., you are not

attending the event on December 6); the ticket provides you with the opportunity to win one of

17 cash prizes drawn during the Cash Bash • The 50/50 – as of November 9th, the 50/50 is up to $321 to the winner! • The basket raffle – 10 baskets which are perfect for gift giving are in the raffle All winning tickets will be drawn the night of the Christmas Cash Bash. Winners do not need to be present. We will continue selling Cash Bash-related tickets after as many Masses as possible. Stop by the side vestibule to take a chance on winning some cash for your stocking!

Knights of Columbus The Knights of Columbus will be speaking at all Masses at St. Mary of the Assumption this weekend. The Knights were formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Please welcome them!

Thanksgiving Food Collection at St. Mary’s We are most grateful for any non-perishable food donations or $10 Giant Eagle Certificates for a turkey. If you have a neighbor who is in need of a Thanksgiving dinner, please call us at 412-486-4021, Sister Lois Spinnenweber, St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Sharing Tree at St. Mary’s If you would like to make Christmas brighter for someone in need or alone, please take a tag from the tree in the Narthex at St. Mary’s. The last day that we can accept the gifts this year will be Sunday, December 8, as they must be sor ted, packed and delivered by 12/14 to the groups we support. The Sisters who serve the homeless and elderly poor at Intersection in McKeesport have again asked us to provide their clients with gift cards to stores and restaurants in their area. Please do not gift wrap the cards for Intersection (yellow tags) just requesting a gift card. Simply put them in an envelope; attach the ornament & drop them in the box labeled Gift Certificates. Please be sure to mark the value on the gift card. Remember that you can also help the school by purchasing gift cards through the Scrip Program. Please leave the gifts in the Narthex, even if the tree has been removed. Do not take them to the rectory. We collect them from the Church every day & leaving them elsewhere delays collection. All of the recipients are delighted and grateful for the gifts from our wonderful parish. Thanks for your cooperation & generosity. Any questions, call Ruth Caldone at 724-449-1051.

Annual Surprise Auction at. St. Mary’s Circle the date and make plans now to attend the always popular “Surprise Auction” hosted by the Confraternity of Christian Mothers on Thursday, November 21, 2019. If you have never participated, this is one evening you don’t want to miss. Each member is asked to provide a new, gift-wrapped item (minimum value $10) to be auctioned and an appetizer, dessert or wine to share. Bring your spouse and/or friends for an evening of fun, fellowship and plenty of surprises as our lively auctioneers entertain and amaze us with their ability to predict the contents of each package. All proceeds from the auction allow us to make this a special holiday for a parish family in need. The evening begins at 6:40 with the rosary, Mass and prayers followed by the auction in Marian Hall. Please join us and begin the holiday season in a truly meaningful way by opening your hearts and sharing your love with others.
