We gathered this month in the sweltering heat of the Margaritaville Tiki Bar & Dining. About thirty minutes after President Cathy got there,

she got on the phone and called management for help. Once management gave the “Okay” to close the windows, it started to SLOWLY cool down a little. Of course, once the meeting was over the temperature was finally tolerable.

We had a good crowd with sixty-five Parrot Heads’ sign-ing the attendance sheet. The raffle had some great prizes which all the winner’s seemed to enjoy.

After the meeting, a few of the Parrot Heads headed up to the River Spirit 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar to completely cool off with a night cap.

BOLEY BASH 2017

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Time to take a refreshing break from the sum-mer heat, chow on some great food, lis-ten to some live music, chill out in the pool, and enjoy the company of all your good Parrot Head phriends.

Bring a lawn chair, a swimsuit, and your beverage of choice. We will have some cold beer, water & tea left over from the TPHC golf tournament, but probably not enough to last the whole evening.

We will be supplying a whole hog, so bring a side dishes and/or a dessert to accompany the pig.

We will have live music from Rick Lamb & the ‘Phin Addicts’ plus we will be playing some games for prizes supplied by ‘Margaritaville’.

We will be presenting our check from the Tulsa Parrot Head’s “Phlocking at the Phort Golf Tournament” to the Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association that evening. Don’t Miss it!

...so many Bdays in August!

HEY PARROT HEADS!The American Legion’s food pantry really needs

some protein items. So what are protein items you ask? They would be things like peanut butter, tuna, Vienna sausages, Spam, or canned ham.

If you have any extra jars, cans, or you happen to be visiting a grocery store sometime before the meeting, please grab something and bring it to the August meeting. They would love to put them into their pantry for a veteran in need.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Trop Rock River PhlockPlans are shaping up for three days of PHUN you

do not do not want to miss -- The 1st Annual Trop Rock River Phlock. Deadline to reserve rooms at the River Spirit Casino Resort is August 1st . After the 1st they will release our block of rooms and you are on your own to try to get a room. The promo code for the $129 rate is “Parrot Head Regional Event”.

We will hold a Silent Auction and a 50/50 Drawing on Saturday, August 12th. Thanks to Mike Casillas and Stacy DeMas, we will also be raffling off a Tiki Bar. All proceeds will be donated to Meals on Wheels and Little Light House.

Registration is $75 which includes: Your Exclusive Event Lanyard, a Goody-bag, Three Days of Awesome Music, Lunch and Dinner on Saturday, and Access to the Resorts Infinity Pool ALL WEEKEND (even if you do not stay at the hotel.) Event tanks will be available for $15 (S, M, L, XL) and $20 (2XL, 3XL). The din-ner on Saturday night will be buffett style and will be served upstairs in the Margaritaville Restaurant. To help prevent crowding, you can sign-up for a either a 7:00pm or 8:00pm dinner time.

If you are just interested in just popping in for Friday night, the registration fee is only $25. Sunday brunch is $15 per person which can be paid at the registration table.

Registration begins at 3:00pm on Friday and we still need volunteers to help. Contact Madam President Cathy if you are willing to help.

What’s going on...?Here are some events that are taking place in and around

Oklahoma in the coming months.

If you have an event you would like listed (it doesn’t have to be Parrot Head related) please contact Cathy or David.

Thank You! to all those who donated gifts: Robbie Thames, Jack Kelsey, Jim and Jan Wollenschlager, Don and Carol Jones, Mike Casillas, Daniele Burris, Judy Striegel, Larry and Vicki Eberle, Richard and Debbie Burling, Bob and Kathy Jew-ell, George and Carla McMillen, Tammy Johnson, Mark and Lori Denny, Darla and Craig Egleston, David and Theresa Hub-ble, Joy Mahoney, Kellie Heflin, Cindy Kramer, Rick Kingery, and Mike Adair

We raised $266 in the July raffle. The donation went to Poetic Justice. Poetic Justice is a nonprofit organization op-erating in Oklahoma jails and prisons. They offer restorative writing workshops to incarcerated women emphasizing voice, hope, and power to change. Their students use transformational commu-nication skills to lead restored, meaning-ful lives.

The July raffle was well distributed and there were some really good prizes.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is just around the corner so now is a really good time to register and begin collecting donations before everyone has hit-up all the good donors. Cathy Boley has al-ready registered as our Team Captain so everyone can register under her.

Parrot Heads are a ‘National Team’ mean-ing we have teams all across the nation rais-ing money for Alzhei-mer’s. The ‘Parrot Heads in Paradise’ goal is $100,000. Currently we are at $95,494.

Jimmy Buffett’s father, James Delaney Buffett, Jr., died of Alzheimer’s. And so did Jimmy’s harmon-ica player Greg “Fingers” Taylor. There are many ways you can help even if they cannot participate in the actual walk. For example, we have ‘Fund-raising Cans’ for people to put at their place of business. Let Cathy Boley know if you need one.

It’s a good time and a great cause. Click on this link to register: http://act.alz.org/site/TR/Walk2017/OK-Oklahoma?pg=entry&fr_id=10050
