Hace referencia a una accion pasada que fue interrumpida por otra accion pasada.
Ejemplo:
I had been studying for one hour when my mother turned off the light.
AFIRMATIVA: Sujeto +had been +verbo con ing + complemento + when + oracion en pasado simple.
Jose had been reading at the park when the rain fell.NEGATIVA:Sujeto +had not been +verbo con ing + complemento + when + oracion en pasado simple.
Jose had not been reading at the park when the rain fell.
INTERROGATIVA:Had + sujeto +been +verbo con ing + complemento + when + oracion en pasado simple.
Had Jose been reading at the park when the rain fell?
Respuestas cortas (Short Answers): las preguntas pueden contestarse con yes/no en respuestas cortas.Para las respuestas cortas negativas HAVE NOT se acorta normalmente a HADN‘T: Yes, he had. / No, he hadn‘t. Yes, they had. / No, they hadn‘t. Para respuestas de información, utiliza las wh questions: when, what, who, where, how:
Ejemplo: P. What time Had Jose been reading at the park when the rain fell?
R. He had been reading last week.
