Pastor Bob Collins
“Man of God” is the description given to a man that follows God in every way,
who obeys His commands with joy, who does not live for the things of this life
but for the things of eternity, who willingly serves his God in giving freely of all
his resources yet gladly suffers as a consequence of his faith. Perhaps Micah 6:8
sums up the man of God in one neat verse: “He has showed you, O man, what is
good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.” The man of God does not swindle or
defraud his employer by turning up late for work or spending an hour on the
internet during work hours; he doesn’t gossip or slander; he keeps his mind and
heart pure by guarding his eyes and ears from the filth of the world; he is the
spiritual leader of his family. He does everything opposite to what the world
does or approves of; he goes "against the grain" of society because he knows
these things displease God; he considers those who are "disadvantaged" or those
rejected by society, those that are lonely or despairing; he is a listener to other
people’s problems and does not judge.
Besides one other Pastor, very few people have supported Deborah and our min-
istry. He was there to promote her and encourage her over the years. He made
it possible for her to flow in her anointing, by releasing her to do what God had
put on her heart. He made it possible for her and other women of African decent
in Church of God to attain their fullest potential. He was never a person to stand
in anyone's way regardless of culture, race, profession or religious affiliation.
Most of all he “Trusted” her and truly treated her like a daughter. There truly
aren’t enough words to describe who Pastor Collins was as a friend, mentor,
pastor and Spiritual Father. Pastor Collins was a humble man that would not
take credit for what God has done, he only admits to being God’s servant that
will always remain obedient. Until we meet again, we love you.

Bridging The Gap at Home
Since returning from Africa in June the ministry has
been busy doing work in the community to focus on
Gods’ big picture for his people. We have been meeting
with Church and Community Leaders to mobilize efforts
to bringing a better quality of life to our youth. In the
communities of Smithfield, Rushmere and Carrolton
there are little or no programs for the youth in these
areas. In fact an impromptu question was asked to over
a dozen young people and the response was astonishing. Dr. Daniel Baltimore, Pastor of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church
The question was, “What do you do in your spare time
and after school?” They said, “there is nothing to do,
we just walk up and down the road or stay at home,
and it is very boring”. We spoke with Dr. Daniel Bal-
timore, Pastor of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Surry
County. He mentioned that there are some programs
for the youth, but everyone is not able to take
advantage of them. Location and cost is sometimes a
factor for some families along with the dynamics of
some families.
We have met with the Director of the Surry County Office On Youth, Mrs. Sophenia H. Pierce,
who has programs for youth in Surry County, and wishes to reach more young people in sever-
al different ways. We had an opportunity to discuss athletic programs that would help engage
our youth in positive activities. There are some programs available, but the cost of participa-
tion or location is a factor.
We have also met with Mrs. Barbara P. Wiggins, CEO of Providential, Credit Care Manage-
ment, Inc., Smithfield, Virginia and Dr. James M. Harrison, Pastor of Main Street Baptist
Church in Smithfield, Virginia. As you can see we are doing the work of the Lord in our Jeru-
salem. We pray that God guide us to make this a reality.

Guardians Season Opener
It was a hot day and everyone was excited and ready
to play ball. The players (thirteen of them), had come
together after a few challenges over the past four
weeks. Some had very little time to ready themselves
for the game ahead of them. All in all they performed
well and never gave up. The Guardians faced the
Patriots ( a veteran team) and did a great job. The outcome of the game was in the favor of the
Patriots, but the enthusiasm of the Guardians gave them the confidence they needed for their
first game as a team themselves. We are very proud of these tough young warriors for their
determination and heart to go into a game and show their opponents, that they are not a
bunch of quitters. The score may have reflected that the outcome was a loss for the
Guardians, but their efforts prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are Winners!

resources, we will transform whole communities.
BRIDGING THE GAP
Since the time the first African was brought
to America, the stories and history have been
almost forgotten. In today's society people,
in America, are asking questions about their
origins as well as historical facts. "Bridging
The Gap", is an initiative that will do just
that. Through Tourism and Education this
can be achieved. Believers on both continents
have a strong desire to reach out and better
know their brothers and sisters that have
been long removed from each other. With
the help of churches, local communities, and
government officials this initiative will be-
come a reality. Pray with us, and encourage
others to support our efforts, to bringing
God's People together as one.
“But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is
come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both
in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and in Samaria, and
unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8
