TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — Brought before the Sanhedrin, the apostles give witness to Jesus Christ. (Acts 5:27-32, 40b-41). Psalm — I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me (Psalm 30). Second Reading — In his vision John sees all in heaven and on earth give honor and glory to the one on the throne and to the Lamb (Revelation 5:11-14). Gospel — Jesus appears to the disciples by the sea of Tibe-rias (John 21:1-19 [1-14]).

“Message from our Pastor” What does the Word say? Jesus’ teachings are always provocative and disrupts whom listens, but it does not intimidate his disciples, who, like missionaries, begin to suffer persecution and rejection (first reading); God is always present launching us towards the horizon as hope (Psalm); realized in the plentitude of time (second reading); For this reason, we should not tire of casting the nets in the name of Jesus, that nourishes and sends from the adhesion of Love of self. A possible actualization of the Word We can say today, that being persecuted because of faith in God, or for being disciples of Jesus that openly show an adhesion of love through worship, the evangelizing in a concrete message that affects life each day, also the presence in society, of me and women of faith, should not be a problem for anyone; nevertheless, aside from the “alleged” toler-ance that should be an acquired right for all humanity, bound to freedom in a religious dimension, continues to be an unconquered goal. The assumed theory exists of freedom in all its dimensions, even though not by all – especially fun-damentalist groups-; but the practice of violence, the ambition of power, the tainted ignorance of ideology or covered by integralism, makes it so that persecution for the faith in Jesus Christ continue to be a sad reality. We should not stop casting the nets, in the name of Jesus, “waiting” because God always frees us, “confessing” the love-adhesion to Jesus, who will always be love trusted in the goodness – needed from conversion and salvation- of the human being: “Pastor my sheep…. my lambs”. What does the Word tell me? There is a danger to confuse the casting of the nets in the name of Jesus, with doing it in our own name. We also, Christians, sometimes can assume integralism attitudes or fundamentalist ones, that provoke persecution; we become our own selves into persecutors through condemnation. But, Pope Francis, faithful to the Gospel of Jesus, reminds us that the path of love is mercy. We can review, in these days, if we also truthfully live the experience of freedom and if it’s God who, from the horizon of definitive salvation, makes us really grow into the human being. Do we denounce whoever kills, has ambitions, abuses and oppresses…..; but above all else love Jesus to be the good shepherd that goes forth the seek his lost sheep? Protección de los Niños El mes de abril es la campaña de proteger a los niños y a todos; y nos unimos con las demás parroquias del arqui-diócesis para promover este mensaje. El 16 de abril los invita el comité de seguridad de la pa-rroquia a un taller sobre como se puede manifestar el abuso en nuestras vidas, será a las 7pm en el auditorio. Les pedimos que inviten a toda su familia y amistades. El 30 de abril será una noche de películas para pasar un tiempo sano y divertido en comunidad. La película co-mienza a las 7pm y habrá refrigerios disponible. El costo del boleto es $3.00 cada uno.

Tercer Domingo de Pascua 10 de abril de 2016 “Digno es el Cordero, que fue inmolado, de recibir el poder y la riqueza, la sabiduría y la fuerza, el honor, la gloria y la alabanza”. — Apocalipsis 5:12
"Mensaje de nuestro Párroco" ¿Qué dice la Palabra? La enseñanza de Jesús siempre es provocativa e interpela a quien la escucha, pero ello no intimida a sus discípulos que, como misioneros, empiezan a sufrir persecución y rechazo (primera lectura); Dios está siempre presente lanzándonos hacia el horizonte como esperanza (Salmo); realizada en la plenitud de los tiempos (segunda lectura); Por ello no hay que cansarse al echar las redes en el nombre de Jesús, que nos alimenta y nos envía desde la adhesión de amor a su persona (evangelio). Una posible actualización de la Palabra Podríamos decir en el día de hoy que el ser perseguidos por causa de la fe en Dios, o por ser discípulos de Jesús que muestran abiertamente su adhesión a través del culto, la predicación en un mensaje concreto que afecta a la vida de ca-da día, también la presencia en la sociedad, de los hombres y mujeres de fe, no debería ser un problema para nadie; Sin embargo, a pesar de la “supuesta” tolerancia que debiera ser derecho adquirido de la humanidad, ligado a la libertad en su dimensión religiosa, sigue siendo una meta no conquistada. Existe la teoría asumida de la libertad en todas sus di-mensiones, aunque no por todos -especialmente grupos fundamentalistas-; pero la práctica de la violencia, la ambición en el poder, la ignorancia teñida de ideología o cubierta de integrismo, hace que todavía la persecución por la fe en Je-sucristo sea una triste realidad. No dejamos por ello de echar las redes, en nombre de Jesús, “esperando” porque Dios siempre nos libera, “confesando” el amor-adhesión a Jesús, que será siempre amor confiado en la bondad -necesitada de conversión y salvación- del ser humano: “Pastorea a mis ovejas… a mis corderos”. ¿Qué me dice la Palabra? Hay peligro de confundir el echar las redes en nombre de Jesús con hacerlo en nombre propio. También nosotros, cris-tianos, a veces podemos asumir actitudes integristas o fundamentalistas, que provocan persecución; nos convertimos así nosotros mismos en perseguidores a través de la condena. Pero el Papa Francisco, fiel al evangelio de Jesús, nos recuer-da que el camino del amor es misericordia. Podemos revisar, en estos días, si de verdad también nosotros vivimos la ex-periencia de la liberación y si es Dios quien, desde el horizonte de salvación definitiva, nos hace creer de verdad en el ser humano. ¿Denunciamos a quien mata, ambiciona, maltrata y oprime…; pero sobre todo amamos a Jesús para ser el buen pastor que va en busca de la oveja perdida? Te esperamos en nuestra celebración dominical para seguir alimentándonos de Jesús resucitado.

St. Patrick’s is raffling off sev-eral sets of scarves handmade by our volunteer, for Mother’s day. The raffle is to offset the cost of the new tabernacle in the chapel. Cost of raffle is $1 per ticket! Raffle will be held May 1, time and location to be announced. San Patricio esta rifando varios sets de bufandas hechas a mano por nuestra voluntario par el día de las Madres. La rife es para recuperar parte del costo del nuevo sagrario en la capilla. The American Heart As-sociation has donated 2 CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) mannequins for use during our CPR training classes, which began last year. Soon, St. Patrick’s Ministry of Health will be inviting the community to one of these classes. Knowing CPR can help save a life.
