Here we are now in May and waiting on good weather. For most grass cutting has begun. This is one place where we can social distance. With no meetings we don't have anything on the agenda. Please stay safe, and look after each other.
Pray to our Blessed mother for some relief to this horrific pandemic, and help your neighbors whenever possible.

Here we are still staying home and waiting for this crisis to pass. Kinda feels like Groundhog Day doesn’t it.
I sent out an email early in the days of the stay at home order asking the executive if they would be willing to stay on in the foreseeable future until we could all meet again. From those that got back to me all agreed that this was probably the best thing to do.
If anyone in the membership has an objection, please let me know and I will try to discuss it with the rest of the executive.
Hopefully, the weather is getting nicer. I have been trapping groundhogs on the banks to control their numbers (and no not to get even for feeling like every day is Groundhog Day). One day I am sweating to death and the next I am freezing to death. I am also walking my dogs 5 to 6 times a day on the bank behind our house. I am very lucky to live in the country where it is easy to social distance. It’s also a good way to get some alone time.
I hope everyone is well and keeping in touch with your family and neighbours.
Please say a prayer for all the frontline people who are taking care of us.
We should also pray for the families and friends of the victims from the senseless killing in Nova Scotia. As if the world was not crazy enough.

Please keep in your prayers, the family of Lorette Kirkland who passed away on April 9th, 2020. Lorette leaves behind her husband Stuart and 5 children, Bill, Jeanne, Jared, Valerie and Jordan. Lorette is the Sister of Emily Bellemore (Brother Roland) and Brother Mark Diesbourg (Kathy). A donation has been sent to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada..Sympathy cards were sent out to the family.
Please keep in your prayers all families who have lost loved ones at this time of Covid 19. It is especially trying to have a funeral where only a few people are allowed to attend and then everybody there has to be 6 feet apart.
We keep in our prayers all those who have died from this pandemic and to the people of Nova Scotia who have lost so many in the shootings there last week. Remember by prayer we can help those who mourn.

Dear Parishioners and local Community members, We the pastoral team of St. Francis Xavier and St. Peter’s wish to join you in our common concern over the COVID-19 pandemic.
We want to express our fellowship with all the members of our local community and to join you in prayer for the health and safety of all.
Since it is no longer possible for us to gather as a community in our churches, we urge you to consider joining us spiritually by participating in our Webcasts
of weekday and Sunday Masses. Please go to:

Lastly, we urge all to be ever more sensitive to the needs of our neighbors and community members, especially the elderly and those with chronic health issues.
To this end we have instituted what we are calling “Care Calls”. We have compiled a list of parishioners who may need some extra help and assistance. Volunteers from St. Francis Xavier and St. Peter’s will be making regular calls everyday
or so just to check in. If you would like to be placed on this call list, please call the office at 519-682-1102. We can offer prayer, we can get groceries if you can’t get out,
we can simply be another human being reaching out to you— to remind you that you are not alone!
May Christ the Divine Physician walk with us through these challenging days. Let us be united in prayer for all effected throughout the world by this virus.

From Our DeaconWe Shall Rise Again with Him
Happy Easter. Yes, it is still Easter, for several more weeks until Pentecost. The Easter season is the longest season of the entire year – with very good reason. The resurrection is the sole reason we are Christians, Catholic Christians. It is our jobs to remind our families and friends that we are still in the Easter Season. We are still rejoicing; we should still be celebrating. I know that it may seem difficult to celebrate in the face of social distancing, in the face of fear of contracting the C-19 virus, in the face of income reduction and increased family tension. As Knights, we are asked to bare arms for God in times of battle. To look after those who, now more than ever, need our help, our support and our prayers. We need to remind ourselves that the Rosary is our weapon and a source of strength to remind ourselves that we are a Resurrection People.
Imagine the Apostles, huddled together in fear right after Jesus was brutally crucified on the cross. Everything they knew had changed. They were self isolating in fear of what might come their way. Isn’t that exactly what we are doing during the pandemic. It was exactly at the lowest point in their current lives that Jesus showed himself to give them the courage to face what seemed impossible.
The days and years that followed after the resurrection were no picknick for them.
They still worried for their life, yet they boldly proclaimed “Alleluia, the Lord is risen. Let us rejoice and be glad”. It did not mean that everything was honkey dory. It just meant that they had the weapons of prayer, the courage of faith and support of each other to battle whatever came at them. If they had not fought the good fight, we would not be called Christians today.
Fight the good fight with your families. Encourage them. Be the voice and the actions of compassion and understanding. Show them that in these unprecedented times, Christians must stand out, be sources of inspiration by the way we reach out, support, and show mercy to all around us, even if they do not seem to deserve it. We are Knights for the Risen Lord. Encourage your families to use their faith as strength. Even if we cannot attend mass and gather as we are used to doing, we can still take the time each week to pray together, especially on Sundays. BingosA new format has been started at the Riverview Bingo Palace and there is no longer individual club bingos. Each organization works 2 hour sessions a couple of times of month. Both our council and St. Peter’s Parish are looking for more volunteers to work these sessions. If you are interested in learn-ing more please call Stan Powell at 519 401-2034. If we can get a few more people we may be able to get more sessions and thus generate more money to help with the church and its ministries
