November, 2016 Pastor's Message Our Heart by Pastor Micheal One of the conversations that begins in October for our pastoral team, finance committee, and board circles around the budget. It's a privilege to look for ways to be better stewards of the monies God entrusts us. We want to continue challenging our- selves to making greater impacts for Jesus (or as I shared via video this past month, we must keep getting bigger pants). In everything financial, the finance committee and the board have surrendered to God each decision. The Rocky Mountain Conference, at our request, shared with us the statistics that the average church in Colorado and Wyoming gives 34% to local church budget of what it gives to tithe. $100 to tithe = $34 additional dollars to church budget. We aren't quite there here at Campion. Actually we are the lowest in the two states. For every $100 of tithe, we give $17 dollars to church budget. That's 17%. There isn't a dictated amount, and the Bible is clear that while we return 10% of our income to God in tithe, our offerings are ours to be sacrificial and generous. The elders of our congregation have seen God work in their lives as they have returned to God's tithe and shared of their means through offering. In 2016 Campion added an App (at Apple Store or Google Play) and an online giving option that allows us to set a monthly automated gift and even give via our mobile devices. These extras make it more convenient for all of us, but the heart of the matter is really our heart. And that's the best part for me--our heart here at Campion is to be all about people. No More Fear Seminar: Takeaways by Pastor Nestor

Our "No More Fear" seminar (October 7-22) was a great success. Our philosophy was topresent Gospel truth in a relational context. Here are a few takeaways: 1. Focus on Connecting - We sit around round tables to eat a light supper together(compliments of different meal volunteers), make new friends and discuss topical questionsevery night. About 20 different guests entered our doors to make new friends and learn aboutJesus. People came to make connections with people and God. 2. Evangelism Still Works - People came to our meetings not only for the free food andfellowship, but also to hear biblical, Christ-centered truth. There is something about Gospelproclamation that still makes a difference in people's lives. Jesus knew what He was sayingwhen He said, "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself" (John12:32). 3. Be Faithful in the Small - It is tempting to think that holding evangelistic meetings willalways draw large crowds. This is not true, especially if a church has not done muchevangelism for several years. It takes time to build a culture of evangelism, and we aremoving in the right direction. I am reminded of what Jesus said, "If you are faithful in littlethings, you will be faithful in large ones" (Luke 16:10, NLT). We have plans to follow up withthe handful of guests that came to our series, so that we can be ready to connect with largergroups in the future.

Minutes of the Board & Information

A few highlights:

Building Project Update: Discussion: Kim Mehlenbacher met with the architect and gavethem a concept of what we envision. They have tweaked it a little (fine-tuned) it and the MajorImprovement Committee will meet to fine-tune it from our side. The architect will soon startworking on final plans and the Major Improvement Committee will have something concrete totake to the church soon.

Student Involvement: Campion Academy has included as part of their Bible curriculum therequirement to be involved in a local church, most of which will take place on Sabbathmorning. Ministry leaders who can involve students in their ministry should talk to one of thepastors.

Complete Minutes of the Board October 17, 2016

"Hacksaw Ridge": The Desmond Doss Movie This incredible story will appear on more than 3,000 moviescreens around North America beginning November 4, andeventually in every major media market of the world. What wasonce an "Adventist" story will be known to people of manycultures and faith traditions. The Trans European Division newsletter says, "'Hacksaw Ridge'is the biggest PR opportunity the church has ever had. MelGibson, a man from a radically different faith background wasconvicted that this is a story he had to tell. It is a story of moral

courage, faith, pacifism and Sabbath keeping. Even the evangelical world is enthused withthe Sabbath keeping part of the film - comparing it favorably with the classic 1924 story ofOlympian Eric Liddell in Chariots of Fire." But there are some things you need to know about this film as well. Although it is a Hollywoodproduction, there are no f-words, taking the name of God in vain, or sex. But it is rated "R forwar violence," and it is violent because what Doss went through was violent, and a personneeds to know that to appreciate what Doss accomplished. Okinawa was one of the bloodiestfights of World War II, and that is the setting. Neither it, nor the trailer, is appropriate forchildren--probably under about age 16. The Doss Council, an Adventist group set up by Doss to control the use of his story, and whogave Gibson permission to do the film, and had control that the story stayed true to Doss, isproducing a series of Bible studies to go with the film; you can share this with friends and
