P R E C I O SA - C O M P L E T E S O LU T I O N SAsk yourself honestly, what do you really expect from a custom design? Is it just a creative response to your

imaginative thoughts?

Because we do not limit your options solely to creative freedom, Preciosa has become a globally recognized

leader in the area of lighting design. Any project surely requires visualization as early as during the actual design

stage and it requires material samples. And if necessary, it also includes services such as a certificate from

a suspension mechanism test. The most important part, however, is flexibility and reliability. This is what we

call an individual approach.

For nearly 300 years, custom made chandeliers from Kamenický Šenov have been shipped to customers all over the

world and we know very well why. Let us share our secrets of this success with you:

WE UNDERSTAND GLASS

Our extensive experience allows us to take a creative approach

to the uniqueness and beauty of Bohemian crystal . For

generations we have been passing on the art of glass blowing

and hand shaping. We know how to accentuate the hardness

and clarity of crystal by its cutting. Each precisely cut facet

amplifies the natural luster and brilliance. For us, the refraction

of light is no longer a phenomenon - it is a design plan.

Whether it is leaded or lead-free crystal, Preciosa is a symbol

of master craftsmanship in its shaping, cutting and polishing.

Tradition, combined with the latest in technology, is what

inspires our designers.

We know hundreds of different methods of glass decoration.

And, this is not where the l ist ends: For example, recently

we extended our portfolio of products by adding shaped flat

glass, decorated with so-called frit (baked on crushed glass

of dif ferent colors and coarseness). Bending, shaping using

a mold, baking on of layers.. . each piece is unique and one-

of-a-kind. And since we are in the 21s t century, the inside of

our glass is covered with a safety layer, which prevents

shattering in the event of an impact. You can come and

see for yourself - for example, at the Hilton Hotel in Omaha,

Nebraska, USA (see p210).

WE UNDERSTAND LIGHT

The original purpose of crystal chandeliers was to transform candlelight into thousands of shimmering points of light. Today, dif fused

and adequately strong light is no longer a problem. It can be accomplished inexpensively and mass produced - however, only to the

point where you begin to increase the demand for ambience, originality and perfect design. At Preciosa, we have managed to find

a solution for even the most daring visions.

As an example, we can mention our project for the Sheraton Grande in Miyazaki,

Japan (see p.266). The local 'Sun' from Preciosa is definitely more than just an ordinary

chandelier. Halogen spot lights have been installed in the ceiling as well as into the

floor. The lighting effect is then created by the pure reflection and refraction of light

that takes place in this seemingly glowing ball with a diameter of up to two meters.

But a daring and original design must walk hand-in-hand with functionality.

That is why three-dimensional computer graphics with exact technical specifications

(shop drawings) are essential when designing such projects. Whether you

decide for a tradit ional chandelier or an ultra-modern sculptural piece, our

modeling permits us to exactly plan the character and the intensity of light at any

location within the il luminated space.

WE UNDERSTAND CHANDELIERS

Sometimes, time takes its toll on historical buildings. Three centuries of exporting

chandeliers from Kamenický Šenov to all over the world allows us penetrate

the mind of our ancestors and understand their intentions and their work.

It would be hard to find another company, which possesses an archive of

nearly 12,000 original crystal chandelier designs. Some of these are

centuries old.

Refitting, reconstruction and replication of historical chandeliers therefore

may, but doesn't have to, include working with the original designs. Among

our technical skills, you will be able to find techniques such as laser cutting

and also traditional sand casting. This enables us to produce authentic replicas

using the same techniques that were used to make the original piece.

This is also because unlike many other manufacturers, we have our own

glassworks, crystal trimmings manufacturing and even metalworking.

Machine or hand cutting, lead-free or certif ied leaded crystal with 30%

lead oxide content - all of this is available to us. It is therefore no surprise

that we were chosen to refurbish the 200 year old chandeliers in the reception

areas for the Czech President at the Prague Castle. During the reconstruction

of the Tuscan Palace in Prague, our historical archive served as a resource

for the design of the chandeliers and the original 18t h and 19t h century

designs were used.

WE UNDERSTAND YOU

Preciosa chandeliers can also be found as far away as the Southern hemisphere

- in New Zealand. It is therefore clear that our sophisticated system enables

us to reliably work on projects regardless of their geographic location. Today,

the delivery of plans, drawings or even animations is no longer a problem. At

the same time, we know that no vir tual simulation can give you a complete

picture of the dif ferent options available to you.

We therefore think of sample materials as a standard component of design

documentation. Normally, we have available samples of approximately 30

dif ferent kinds of glass and 20 dif ferent kinds of metal sur face finishes.

However, these samples are all original creations and they are not the limit to

your creativity. With our customers, we frequently use non-standard, special

materials and technologies.

A perfect example of such successful collaboration is the Sheraton Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan (see p.268). For the flowers that were used in

this project - the size of which topped ninety centimeters in diameter, we used a unique manufacturing method of flaring molten glass to which

colored decoration was added while it was being shaped. The oversized main chandeliers are all hand blown. And when executing this unique

design, we were not discouraged by the fact that Taiwan is a distance of almost 10,000 kilometers from the North Bohemian foothills.

WE UNDERSTAND TIME

Speed and reliability - two magic words, that are important to any project. Although

they are two different words, in reality, they represent the same idea: Doing things

right. Verify the structural conditions before a chandelier (weighing several tons)

is designed. Design a proper hanger. Incorporate the methods for future maintenance

into the actual design. For us, all of these are natural tasks including professional

installation and the obtaining of the necessary certificates required under the

laws of the particular country. And this also saves time. For example, we were the

only ones who were able to supply not only the chandelier but also the entire ceiling

cupola to the China World Hotel in Beijing - even when the entire structure is held

up by its perimeter ring and a structural solution was therefore crucial.

Although we emphasize an individual approach, in reality, we are one of the

largest manufacturers of crystal chandeliers in the world. With our nearly one

thousand employees, we can offer you sufficient capacity for the rapid

execution of your project - even for very large orders. For example, for the Ritz-

Carlton in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA (see p.112), we manufactured

over 600 original chandeliers and more than one hundred of them were large

pieces. The largest of these had a diameter of approximately five meters. You

can try to guess how long it took us to manufacture the order, ship it across

the ocean and install it. Although there were skeptics, we accomplished

what we had promised - all in four months.

Page 9: Pcl project book

Despite all of the effort and the quality of products, we know that time can take its toll. Dust, pollution, minor accidents and many

other things will gradually affect even the most beautiful and most precise work. Therefore, we naturally offer regular maintenance

and cleaning services and also refurbishing if necessary. These post sale services enable the chandeliers from Kamenick_ _enov to

maintain their charm for centuries. The direct link to the factory, the availability of spare parts and the professional skills of our staff

will save you not only time, but also money in the end. Remember this when you the premier stage of the world famous Russian ballet,

the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. The large chandelier in the theater's auditorium was made by Preciosa. What you cannot see while

sitting in the auditorium is the specially designed suspension mechanism, which allows for easy and fast maintenance.

WE UNDERSTAND THE WORLD

When someone in the 18th century wanted to become a glass master in North Bohemia, the person was first required to undergo

14 years of training in other countries. This shows how, as early as back then, we had functioning worldwide market research. Although

thanks to modern telecommunication technologies and air travel, the world seems much smaller than it used to be, we want to stay

as close to you as possible. That is why we put such a high degree of importance on our direct commercial representatives located

across the globe from Hong Kong to Buffalo, New York, USA. The list of these representatives can be found at the end of this catalog.

Custom made chandeliers that bear the name of Preciosa can be found in theaters, monasteries, private residences and hotels all

across the world. In addition to their quality and beauty, our success is the result of the continually growing portfolio of our services,

global partners and most importantly, our satisfied customers.

Why don't you join in!

More than 500 years ago, in the territory of the former Kingdom of Bohemia, skilled craftsmen began to discover ways of making

glass and to work this material into pleasing forms. By the beginning of the 17th century, Bohemian glassmakers were manufacturing

a glass mass that closely resembled natural crystal. Bohemia has become the source of the world's finest crystal known for its high

degree of brilliance, fire and optical purity.

In 1724, in connection with the development of glassmaking, the first chandelier workshop was opened in Prácheň, a small village

near the Bohemian town of Kamenický Šenov (Preciosa-Lustry's present headquarters), and started a brisk trade in lighting fixtures.

Other workshops in the region soon followed. Thanks to their exquisite form and the purity of their mouth blown and hand cut crystal,

the chandeliers from Kamenický Šenov soon became much sought after by the aristocracy of that time. The palaces of Louis XV, King

of France, Maria Theresa, Empress of Austria, and Elisabeth, Tsarina of Russia, were among those for which original Bohemian chandeliers

provided the crowning touch.

Since then, Bohemian chandeliers have been true representatives of the creative abilities, originality and traditional skills of master craftsmen

working with glass. Preciosa - Lustry proudly develops the tradition of chandelier production born more than 280 years ago.

známého vysokým stupněm brilance, ohněm a optickou čistotou.

V roce 1724, v souvislosti s rozvojem sklářství, byla v malé

vesnici Práchni nedaleko českého města Kamenický Šenov

(dnešní sídlo společnosti Preciosa - Lustry) otevřena první

lustrařská dílna a začala čile obchodovat se svítidly. Další dílny

na sebe nenechaly dlouho čekat. Pro vytříbenost tvarů a čistotu

foukaného a ručně broušeného křišťálu byly kamenickošenovské

lustry záhy velice vyhledávané u tehdejší aristokracie. Paláce

francouzského krále Ludvíka XV., rakouské císařovny Marie

Terezie a ruské carevny Alžběty byly mezi těmi, jimž originální

české lustry vtiskly pečeť dokonalosti.

Od té doby jsou české lustry pravými reprezentanty tvořivých schopností, originality a tradiční zručnosti sklářských mistrů. Preciosa

  „PRECIOSA - LUSTRY“

H I S T O R I A D E L A V I D R I E R Í A

P R E C I O S A - LU S T RY D E H OY

chandeliers. Specifically, the chandelier design consists of twenty pipe-like arms, which have been hand-shaped using colored, blown

glass. The crystal has been embellished with metallurgical, optical decorations accentuated by the use of special techniques

including those normally used with enameled fixtures.

The overall illumination of the interiors has been accomplished by combining decorative and indirect lighting, while accentuating the atmosphere.

The Taj Krishna Hotel is strategically located in the business and commercial center of the city of Hyderabad. Preciosa supplied the

three dominant 2,7m size lighting fixtures for the hotel's main public area. The entire interior was designed in crimson tones and glass

of the same color has been used to fabricate the lighting fixtures. For the first time ever, chandeliers with broadening out arms have

been used. The length of these arms (130 cm) is also unique. Smaller versions of the chandeliers and wall brackets in the same color

were also manufactured for the ballroom.

Le Royal Meridian Hotel in Mumbai opened in August 2000. It is located along the famous Andheri Road, only 5 minutes from the international

airport. The hotel is a combination of genuine colonial grandeur and values skillfully blended with modern style and perfect service.

The Mumbai hotel project is an ideal example of how a lighting fixture can become the dominant element of the entire interior. The

central crystal chandelier (3m in diameter) is a basket combined with glass arms decorated with a cascade of lustrous trimmings.

Two smaller, equally impressive chandeliers were installed alongside of the main chandelier. An additional twenty lighting fixtures

were supplied by Preciosa for the hotel's lounge areas. Etched lighting fixtures such as the one delivered to the Le Royal Meridian

Hotel represent the backbone of the assortment of Preciosa - Lustry products, because, when combined with 'Premium' trimmings,

they most accentuate the beauty of Bohemian crystal. It is in these creations where the craf tsmanship of Czech glassmakers

combined with the experience, tradition and environment of a successful company can best demonstrate its excellence.

The Okura Hotel in Sapporo is the most luxurious hotel on the island of Hokkaido. Preciosa was selected as the main supplier of lighting

fixtures for the hotel's representative areas. They can be found in the ballroom, conference center and in the lobby.

The entire design was accomplished using 78 pieces of the traditional Maria Theresa type of chandeliers. This unmistakable

chandelier design and the abundance of its crystal trimmings add the finishing touch to the entire interior of this Sapporo hotel. This

project demonstrates that even when using a standard design, we can create an impressive ensemble of chandeliers. Another interesting

part of the design is that the complete illumination of the interiors has been achieved by combining decorative (direct) and technical

(indirect) lighting.

One of the greatest successes of Preciosa - Lustry was the victory in a competition advertised for the interior lighting of the world-famous

Bolshoy Theater in Moscow. After its reconstruction, the theater opened with a grand performance of Tchaikovsky's ballet, Swan Lake.

Our company supplied all of the Bolshoy's representative areas - the auditorium, the lobby, the winter garden, the staircases and the

entrance foyer. We supplied a total of 217 lighting fixtures, which included mostly baskets composed of cast pieces richly decorated

with trimmings. To complete the project, Preciosa collaborated with the company Kreml-Bronza. The combination of bril l iant

Bohemian crystal and Russian, flawlessly worked bronze, produced inventive lighting fixtures with an original design that led to the

highest level of client satisfaction.

The project was characterized by specific approaches to resolving many different

issues. One of them was the dif ficult access to the installation area. To

resolve this issue, our company manufactured its own special hoisting

mechanism, which, in the end, simplified not only the actual installation, but

also the future cleaning and maintenance during which the chandelier can

easily be suspended to a serviceable height.

The central chandelier has a diameter of 6 meters; it is 4.5 meters high and

weighs 2.5 tons. The design includes several interesting components such

as cut glass balls, braided with thin stainless steel wire. This design idea not

only creates a new aesthetic ef fect, it also increases the safety of the

audience by protecting them in the event of an accidental cracking of the

glass. When combined with the halogen lamps, the original design of the

trimming strings, together with the cut crystal accentuate the prismatic

dif fusion of the light and thereby the overall brilliance of the chandeliers.

This hotel in Singapore was the first hotel built by the Shangri-La group. Preciosa became the supplier for the hotel's 'Valley Wing'.

For this project, we created typical basket chandeliers with unique twisted trimming strings. The crystal trimmings contain embedded

filigree metal components, which create their unmistakable and unique character. To balance out the visual effect, the same motif

was used to decorate the primary metal frames. The resulting lighting effect is created by chandelier trimmings joined into two parallel

layers housing the light sources.

Preciosa supplied a total of 126 lighting fixtures to the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.

One of the major projects for Preciosa - Lustry, a.s., during which our client took advantage of all of our capabilities and services,

was the reconstruction of the most prestigious hotel in Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Ritz-Carlton.

After the client provided us with graphic design proposals for the fixtures, our designers

used the drawings to prepare a design study. The proposed designs for the light

fixtures were modified several times in order to satisfy the client to the maximum

degree. In early 2000, we star ted the technical preparations and the actual

production of the f ixtures.

Over a period of four months, all of the f ixtures were manufactured, shipped

across the ocean and installed in the hotel.

A total of 608 lighting f ixtures of 37 dif ferent types were delivered as part of the

project. 117 of these f ixtures were large chandeliers and baskets and 491 were

sconces. Cast f ixtures represented the greater part of the delivery. For the most

prestigious area of the hotel however - the ballroom, the design consisted of trimming

baskets, where the central basket has a diameter of 488 centimeters. The hotel

has more than thirty floors and Preciosa supplied lighting fixtures to all of the hotel's

public areas, lounges, the above mentioned ballroom and public hallways.

The hotel was reconstructed on the occasion of the new millennium and the ceremony

for the grand reopening was attended by the Governor of Pennsylvania.

Parts of the design that was supplied to the China World Hotel in Beijing were 10 cast metal crystal baskets, each of them being up

to 230 cm in diameter. One of the reasons Preciosa won this bid was the fact that we were the only company that was able to supply

not only the chandeliers, but also the entire skylight structure from which one of the central baskets has been suspended.

When manufacturing this technically, extremely elaborate skylight, we used special materials and designs to meet the strict bearing

capacity requirements and at the same time let the visual statement of this dominant chandelier come through. The skylight is composed

of individual elements, which, in their ultimate effect, accentuate the appearance of the entire chandelier.

The atmosphere of distant countries emanates from each of these magnif icent chandeliers. Constructed from

crystal, brass, or bronze, they are decorated with rich oriental motifs and dressed with mostly machine cut and polished

crystal trimmings. Most of the time, metal par ts are f inished with genuine gold. These chandeliers are most of ten

custom designed to our customers' specif ications, matching and complementing the interior architecture.

The Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates was completed in 2004 as the largest hotel in the Middle East. The

facility consists of an entire complex of buildings for public use, conferences, diplomatic visits and VIP events. Preciosa was selected

as the primary supplier of lighting fixtures for the hotel's most prestigious areas. So far, the project has been the largest project in

the history of lighting fixture manufacturing in Kamenický Šenov and in the history of Preciosa - Lustry, a.s.

The design of the fixtures that have been supplied was based on traditional basket type chandeliers, modified with decorative

elements inspired by the Arab culture. New forms of brass details with Arab motifs were used to decorate the structural parts of the

chandeliers. The decorative metal elements (brass) were also newly created. An entirely new type of final metal finishes in gold and

silver was especially developed for this project.

The dimensions of the fixtures used in the project were completely unique - the circular basket had a diameter of 405 centimeters

and the oval semi-basket was 465 centimeters high with a width of 150 centimeters. The manufacturing of the smaller fixtures and

the wall brackets was also a very elaborate task due to the use of very small components and the precision of the design.

Nearly 800 lighting fixtures of 38 dif ferent types were created for this project.

The first of the famous “Faberge eggs” was made in 1884. It was an Easter egg that was made for the czar as a gif t for his wife,

Czarina Maria. The egg reminded the empress of her homeland and, from then on, it was agreed that each year, Faberge would make

an Easter egg for Maria. Historical art works that Faberge imitated or copied from his travels or from the Hermitage inspired the designs

for these Imperial Easter eggs.

These eggs became the source of inspiration for the project at the Sheraton Hotel in Dongguan, China.

Preciosa supplied a total of 18 “eggs”', each 1100 mm in height, divided into 3 clusters of 6 eggs each. The structure of each egg

is formed by leaves that have been cut by laser out of polished sheet brass and which are then joined together to make the egg-shaped

objects. These are strung with machine cut amber and orange crystal trimmings from Preciosa. These objects contain a total of 145,000

trimmings.

The wall brackets also have a very interesting concept. When lit up they create a so-called “silver effect”. The silver effect is achieved

by applying a metallic coating to the crystal octagons.

Part of the Sheraton Hotel, Dongguan project was a uniquely conceived design using the traditional chandelier. The result was a combination

of the traditionally shaped, cut glass chandelier and a “veil”, which softens the overall character of the chandelier. The veil has a cylindrical

shape and is composed of fine crystal octagons.

The Wedding Hall in Himeji, near Osaka, is considered one of the most luxurious wedding locations in Japan. Preciosa outfitted the

interiors with its traditional chandeliers, of which the dominating element is the brilliant basket. The main metal frame was decorated

with large ruby-colored 40 millimeter octagons, which create an interesting contrast to the traditional crystals.

The most interesting part of the project was an atypical chandelier (size 210x67x50). With its shape, the design of the chandelier

resembles a crystal boat. Part of the project was also the installation of an electrical hoist, which permits easy cleaning and

maintenance.

The distinctive design of l ighting f ixtures from the contemporary l ine is based on simple shapes with an emphasis

on per fect detail and careful selection of colors. In the production of these f ixtures, new approaches to traditional

techniques were adopted, as for instance mouth blowing, by means of which modern shapes are created.

Another one of Preciosa's unique projects can be found in Bei j ing. In the year 2000, three atypical chandeliers, designed as if

created from crystal costume jewelry were made for this Shangri-La Hotel. The overall atmosphere evoked by the interiors is one

of a natural environment (water, rain, sky). The chandeliers complement this impression. Their original and unique design was

created by combining clear and colored, highly ref lective crystal trimmings provided with an ornamental metall ic coating. The

special ef fects have been precisely thought out in each of the three layers so that a unique play of shapes created by the internal

light source can be seen through the outer layer. The metal cloud-shaped ornaments in the middle layer are embedded with machine-

cut black crystal diamonds and topaz colored pearls. These are visible through the outside layer and create a subtle and

unobtrusive magical ef fect.

A member of the Shangri-La Hotel Group, this hotel is located in the heart of the diplomatic and business quarter in the vicinity of

the legendary Forbidden City. Preciosa was one of the company's participating in the extensive reconstruction of the hotel, which

was completed in 2004.

As the dominant element of the structure, the glass cupola is illuminated using external light sources. The actual see through part

has a diameter of 6 meters and is made up of 148 leaves of sheeted glass, the largest of which is 1.5 meters in length. The bottom

rim of the structure is decorated with hand-painted signs of the zodiac. The top of the cupola was decorated with additional hand-

made crystal drops and smaller glass leaves in various colors.

Other public areas of the hotel, such as the front desk, have been illuminated with a variety of interesting wall sconces, smaller chandeliers

and lamps.

THE ISLAND SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, HONG KONG, HONG KONG S.A.R. 2003

The original hanging, wall-mounted and table lamps from Preciosa also provide the light in the newly reconstructed Lobster Bar at

the Shangri-La Hotel in Hong Kong. The objective of the new trends used in the lighting designs was not only to illuminate the interiors

but also to set a particular atmosphere. Once again, colored hand blown glass was used to produce a lighting fixture, the primary

purpose of which was not only to provide light, but also to create the feeling of comfort, intimacy and safety.

This has been achieved not only through the actual design of the fixtures, but also by combining multiple 'local' sources of light (spot,

decorative, indirect, etc.) and by the coordination of these light sources with the bar's interior.

In order to add a finishing touch to the entire interior, we also supplied unique wall brackets made up out of clear, fused glass and

blue crushed glass in dif ferent grades of coarseness. In order to evoke the atmosphere of the deep ocean, we used a combination

of spot, decorative and indirect lighting.

The Hilton Hotel is located in the downtown area of Omaha, at the very heart of the State of Nebraska. Preciosa created unique

lighting f ixtures of an "abstract" design. The set of chandeliers was made using molten glass - multiple layers of fused sheet glass.

The layers of glass have dif ferent colors and dif ferently shaped surfaces. Each piece is original in terms of shape, color and size.

An interesting element is the layer of plastic f ilm attached to the inside of the glass in order to prevent potential shattering.

THE RITZ-C ARLTON HOTEL, HONG KONG, HONG KONG S.A .R. 2003

One of the hotels of the Ritz-Carlton group is located in Hong Kong's so-called 'Golden Circle' - a location with the most prestigious

business addresses. Preciosa's task was to capture the architect's vision for the New Café, designed in the colors of olive oil,

cinnamon and amber. Our designers chose motifs in the style of the 'African bush'. They came up with eccentric, organic objects of

irregular shapes.

The resulting light fixture designs resemble irregular, free growing plants as they can be found in nature. The supporting structure

was made out of hand-shaped brass tubing. The glass components have been colored in the requested tones. Another, naturally chaotic

component of the design are bubbles and grooving in the material. When combined with crystal, all of these elements come

together to create the café's unmistakable African atmosphere.

In close collaboration with architects and designers ar t isans create custom-made, innovative designs of glass

sculpture objects, using a combination of ancient techniques and new technologies. Generations of crystal-making

skills are combined with high-tech tools and methods to create masterpieces of light and magic. In these glass creations,

the light is an important but not decisive element in the artwork. The primary goal is to interpret the designer's vision

into the medium of glass. These are of ten inspired by nature or through abstract ideas.

The concept for the ceiling lighting at the Westin Hotel in Bangkok resembles the waves in the sea. The object was made out of multi-

colored fused glass. Each wave was made out of opal glass in various shades of brown, frosted white and light brown joined into a

single amber layer.

The unique wall brackets were also designed in a very unusual fashion. They are made out of extra long (up to 1.5 meters) hand-

shaped components. The entire sculpture in yellow and crimson colors is illuminated by internal and external light sources that are

accessible from the back through openings in the wall.

Sheraton Grande Hotel in Miyazaki is located next to the prestigious Phoenix Resort Country Club, a host of a world famous annual

golf tournament. In 2002, Preciosa designed and manufactured a unique glass sculpture for the hotel's grand lobby. The lobby itself

measures 25 meters and its dominant element is a giant aquarium with a bar. Preciosa realized its unique vision of a glowing, exploding

supernova, which accentuates this one-of-a-kind interior. This 'sun' was created using hand-blown yellow and crimson rays and was

suspended above the aquarium using thin steel cables. It is actually not even a chandelier, since the object is illuminated by external

halogen light sources.

Included in the project are additional 'crystal suns' located in the corners of the lobby that complement the entire interior.

Originally known as the 'Lai Lai Sheraton Hotel', the Sheraton Hotel in Taipei is a member of the Starwood Hotel Group. The hotel

prides itself in housing the largest glass sculpture ever made in the history of our company. Two giant chandeliers in the hotel's ballroom

create the impression of a glowing sun. Each of them has a diameter of 4.5 meters. The design has been created by using hand-blown

beams of molten glass in red and yellow colors. The beams are up to 1.8 meters in length, while each of them has a dif ferent size

and a dif ferent shape.

The additional flower shaped lighting fixtures, made of flared molten glass with the addition of colored decorative touches, accentuate

the exotic natural atmosphere.

The sample container 'Glass colors and finishes' presents a range of colors and types of surface

treatment used for Preciosa chandeliers. Besides, we are able to develop special types of glass

to customers' specifications.

Samples of mouth blown glass in thirty variants present our basic supply. The ability to provide

that many glass color variants shows the meticulous attention we pay to and constant effort

we put into this challenging business. The samples include surface finishes of glass; such as painted

enamel overlay glass, and frosted opal or gold painted crystal.

Metalworking, based on extensive centuries-old experience and a good feeling for detail, is one

of Bohemia's traditional crafts. In this field, Preciosa's own know-how enables a range of metal

finishes using a variety of techniques.

The sample container 'Metal surface treatment' presents 20 most frequently applied surface

finishes included in our basic supply. Each sample shows how the final finish affects the quality

and look of embossed as well as smooth-surfaced metal. One of our specialties is sand cast

brass ornamental components with brass serving as a basis for further surface treatment. We

are able to develop customized surface finishes as required by the customer in various layers

and variants resulting in the unique look and character of our chandeliers.

PREMIUM ***A sumptuous type of chandelier trimmings. Fire of the

rainbow spectrum, brilliance, limpidity, glitter and perfect

scattering and dispersion of light - these are their main features

resulting from precise cutting using electronically controlled

machines, but also from high quality crystal containing more

then 30% of lead. Traditional mastery and the revealed

mystery of the glass substance blend together with modern

technologies and first-rate design in each of these unique

pieces. Chandeliers dressed with these tr immings of

exceptional beauty will lend an air of grandeur to the

ambience even of the most prestigious interiors.

STANDARD **Hand cut or partly machine cut chandelier trimmings. Inspired by rich glassmaking tradition as

well as modern trends, these crystals are characterized by distinct fire, rainbow sparkle and purity

of shape. Each piece is checked for accuracy of cut and its high quality is guaranteed. They will

satisfy even the most discriminating customers. Chandelier trimmings of the Standard type offer

an opportunity to those searching for quality at a reasonable price.

The available Standard crystal trimmings are marked with 2 stars.

TRADITIONAL *Chandelier trimmings cut from lead-free glass are typical of the traditional production in Bohemia

stretching back to the former half of the 18th century. Thanks to their look based on tradition

and history, they satisfy even the most discriminating customers. Lighting fixtures dressed

with these trimmings are suitable especially for period interiors. On the other hand, they create

an exciting counterpoint to austere modern interiors. These trimmings are often used in the production

of replicas of historical lighting fixtures.

The available Traditional crystal trimmings are marked with 1 stars.

CROSS - SECTION OF THE LIGHTING FIXTURE - TERMINOLOGY

1. Suspension of the lighting fixture - every lighting fixture is ended with the suspension (the loop used for suspending the lighting fixture

on the hook in the ceiling) or possibly with the fillet having the holes for fixation to the ceiling.

2. Canopy - the ceiling cover destined for covering the suspension of lighting fixture to the ceiling. The shape and the dimension of canopy are

chosen according to the type of lighting fixture in order to meet the purpose (to cover the suspension) and to complete suitably the design of

lighting fixture. In the case of all-glass lighting fixtures or MT ones the metallic canopy is further overlapped with the glass part.

3. Suspending of the lighting fixture is made in two different ways

a.) on the chain - the length of this suspension can be modified more easily according to requirements of client (shortening).

b.) on the tube - this suspension has to be confirmed in advance, the height of lighting fixture cannot be modified - the length of tube gives it.

4. Supporting tube - along the center of lighting fixture goes the tube carrying all the body of lighting fixture ( it doesn't concern of MT lighting

fixtures and the glass sculptures)

5. - 10. Central parts - the bowls, the dishes, the cups, the balls, the small necks, the vases, the hooks, the crowns, (according to the type of

lighting fixture they can be of glass or metallic), the body structure of the inserted inner lighting fixture. They are put on the supporting tube and

create the shape of the body of lighting fixture.

11. Supporting centers - they include the supporting plates set in the central covers with the connecting space for conductors. The supporting

plates are used as an anchorage of hooks, crowns, arms, lamp holders.

12. The arms - of glass or metallic according to the type of lighting fixture are forming its body (in the case of MT lighting fixtures the arms create

the design of it) and are used

a.) for distribution of conductors - these arms are ended with the cup, with the combination of cups, with the cup and small neck, with the cup

and small tulip, with the cup and great tulip, with the great tulip, with the lampshade + lamp holder with the candle tube.

b.) as a decorative element for putting the finishing touches to the final form of lighting fixture. These arms are in any cases blinded with the

decorative terminal part - glass or metallic.

5. Bowl, bobeche - made from glass or metallic according to the type of lighting fixture in which are applied. They are used for covering the

supporting centers, for the final formation of the body, for ending of the arms and they always make an important part of the lighting fixture design.

6. Ball - made from glass or metallic according to the type of lighting fixture in which is applied. It is used as a joint of the central parts most frequently

of the vases.

7. Small neck - made from glass or metallic according to the type of lighting fixture in which is applied. It is used as a joint or for ending of the

central parts but it is often used for ending the arms as an accessory of design.

8. Vase - made from glass or metallic according to the type of lighting fixture in which is applied. It is most frequently used as a central part for the

final forming of the lighting fixture body but it can be also used as a part for ending the arm. It makes an important part of the lighting fixture design.

9. Hook - made from glass or metallic according to the type of lighting fixture in which is applied. It is used as a central part for final forming of

the required design or as a supplement of the arm appearance.

10. Inserted inner lighting fixture - has a shape of the basket or half basket. It is inserted to the lighting fixture for increasing the diameter of

lighting fixture with the possibility to obtain the illuminated center of lighting fixture.

13. Great tulip - made from glass. It is always used for ending the arm. It is a type of vase that hides the lamp holder and light source on the arm

and makes an important part of the lighting fixture design.

14. Small tulip - made from glass or metallic according to the type of lighting fixture in which is applied. It is often used in a combination with a cup,

too. It is a part developed with the integration of the small neck and the cup into the form of chalice. It is most frequently used as an ending of

arm but it can also make part of the body shape of lighting fixture. It makes always an important testimonial part of the lighting fixture design.

15. Lampshade - made from glass or of cloth. The glass one is mostly of the closed shape, the cloth one is arranged on the lightweight

construction. It is used in order to cover (diffuse) the light of source.

16. Candle tube - overlapped tube made from glass or metallic. It is used as a cover of the lamp holder.

17. Terminal part - made from glass or metallic according to the type of lighting fixture in which is applied. It is most frequently used for the ending

of lighting fixture. In the case of lighting fixtures decorated with the glass pendants the terminal part is ended with a great stone but it is also used

as an ending element of the decorative arms.
