There are many things that change our lives. These changes help us to become the people we are. At the beginning, there is the tendency to be afraid, to be shy, to run away and hide. We like to procrastinate and put things off, ignoring the fact that someday, we must face reality. The Apostles experienced similar situations. What are

they going to do without Jesus in their midst? How would they be able to cope and live their lives? Jesus’ Resurrection gave them the direction they needed. They called people to live in relationships of mutual love, giving witness to the love of the Trinity, enabling them to make visible Gods’ love in the world. We hear in the Scripture Readings that Paul and Barnabas encouraged the people to work together as a faith community. Reminding them that suffering would take place as part of emphasizing the mystery of sharing Christ’s glory. We are called to be a people who dream, who reflect on what God has in store for us in the future. It gives us the opportunity to imagine what the possibilities are to experience God’s presence in our midst. That challenge for us is to take a leap of faith, giving witness to God’s undying love for us. By doing so, we send a message to others, that we are a people who have nothing at all to fear.

The Spring Fundraiser was a huge success. It was wonderful to see parishioners, alumni and friends from various generations having a good time together. The stories that were shared were entertaining and inspirational. I want to especially thank Mr. Kevin Healy for guiding us and leading us during this time. The faculty and staff did a tremendous job behind the scenes in fulfilling the tasks given to them. The parents and catechists from Saturday School of Religion contributed and showed their support for the event. To all of you, our parents, parishioners, alumni and friends who purchased raffle tickets, bullet tickets and entrance tickets, who donated baskets or auction items to be bid on. Everyone helped to make this event an enjoyable and memorable one.

Congratulations to the winners of our raffle: Fred and Joan Pearson, $10,000, Mrs. Linda McCann, $5,000, Ryan Kinnerk, $1,000, Dan and Paulette McNally, $1,000, Mary Hopkins, $1,000, Kim Cronin, $1,000, Brian Arthurs, $1,000, Adam Pirman, $1,000, Michele Stepanek, $1,000, Davey McCallion, $1,000, Joyce Martin, $1,000 and John and Ruth Leyden, $1,000. Queen of Martyrs Students Gather for Prayer Service

Faculty and students celebrated the begin-ning of the Triduum on Holy Thursday, March 24th. First Communion Students received a small loaf of bread to share with their families. The bread symbolized the Eucharist that they will be receiving on May 7th. Confirmation Candidates received blessed candles to burn at their Easter dinner with family. The Prayer Service focused on the three holiest days of the year, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. Faculty and students reflected on the Season of Lent and were asked these questions: Did you take the time to pray?, Did you take the time to go to church?, Did you take the time to go and serve others? Students prayed for all Christians, our parish, all families, and for the students that will be receiving the sacraments of the Eucharist and Confirmation. Principal, Mrs. Kathleen Tomaszewski and Assistant Principal, Ms. Catherine Pirman gave an Easter greeting to those gathered together in prayer. Students were reminded to continue to follow the invitation from God to GO and help others, sharing their time and talents, and bringing the Good News of Jesus and his Resurrection to all people.
