Peace Energy Renewable Energy Cooperative was western Canada’s first renewable energy cooperative, and the second in all of Canada. Peace Energy was the originator and principle mover that made possible British Columbia’s first commercial wind development, Bear Mountain Wind Park (102 MW) near Dawson Creek. Peace Energy continues to receive an income from Bear Mountain. We are now pursuing other investment opportunities while continuing to make possible renewable energy options for our members and the public, such as roof-top solar power for home and business. When you become a member of Peace Energy Cooperative, with your initial investment of $200 you’ll receive: 1) full membership in Peace Energy Cooperative with an attractive membership certificate suitable for framing. 2) one $200 membership share that will pay dividends based on the profits that the co-op will generate. 3) further investment opportunities that may become available from time to time. 4) information about green energy in the Peace Region and around the world through our newsletter and website, and early notification of co-op sponsored workshops and conferences about green energy. As a member you will receive reduced rates for these events. 5) a voice! As a member of Peace Energy, you are part of an important lobby group that will affect local, provincial and federal government policy on energy issues. 6) an equal vote with every other member for the election of the co-op board and other issues of importance to the co-op. Each member of the co-op has one, and only one, vote.
