Calling all Process Leaders to Unite – The Future is in Process Centricity T he last few decades have slowly and surely brought process thinking to the forefront of management and organizational best practice. The ongoing rise of Lean thinking led by Toyota; Six Sigma as rigorous process for quality management; and more recently of Business Process Management (BPM) and IT alignment, are all enabling the creation of enterprise process frameworks and the ultimate in process centric organizations. However with the rise of different and new approaches to process, siloed process practices have emerged, often resulting in one process team not knowing what the another process team is doing. More often than not Lean leaders are unaware of their BPM counterparts, let alone working collaboratively towards the same goal. Somewhere in our journey towards becoming a ‘process centric organization’ it appears many of us have become too caught up in the tools and lost sight of our primary purpose: To drive positive change and to create a lasting and sustainable process and operational framework that delivers the highest quality, in the most efficient way at all times. So what should and does the future look like for the successful process centric organization? Firstly, there is definitely not a one size fits all framework - all strategies and approaches need to be adopted in synergy with your organizations’ culture and architecture. However what is most notable when looking at current process maturity models, is that those organizations that are streaks ahead, are those that have forged a collaborative model that unites all of the process disciplines. These organizations have managed to fuse multiple efforts for a strong focus on strategy execution, people and culture as well as fast changing customer needs. Calling all Process Leaders to Unite – The Future is in Process CentricityThe last few decades have

slowly and surely brought process thinking to the forefront of management and organizational best practice.

Somewhere in our journey towards becoming a ‘process centric organization’ it appears many of us have become too

caught up in the tools and lost sight of our primary purpose: To drive positive change and to create a lasting and sustainable process and operational framework that delivers the highest quality, in the most efficient way at all times.

So what should and does the future look like for the successful process centric organization? Firstly, there is definitely not a one size fits all framework - all strategies and approaches need to be adopted in

synergy with your organizations’ culture and architecture.

The power of the combined process disciplines is hard to ignore. With process improvement providing the ground work for excellence and ensuring that each individual process is optimized in both efficiency and effectiveness, BPM takes this to the next level with its framework for end-to-end process sustainability and long term governance. Finally, driving processes towards innovation to constantly provide agility will create the organizations of the future.

In conclusion, in 2012 the PEX Network is calling all process leaders to unite, to collaborate and inspire the community; bringing together best practices into one much more powerful model for process centricity. Let’s look to the future of the global organization and where we need to be in 5 or 10 years time – let’s start planning for that today.
