Message from Rev. Lea

Moving forward, every few months, I want to highlight a

ministry and help you to know how you can plug in and be

involved.

First up: ACTS – Actions for Christ Through Service.

This ministry has grown incrementally over the past two years.

We serve children from Pre-K through 12th

grade. We gather

every Wednesday night (unless school is out) from 6-7:15pm.

Our schedule is as follows:

6:00pm – Children arrive, sign in, and prepare for gathering time

& Youth go straight to their class with Tiffany Rogers.

6:05pm – Children participate in gathering time which includes

prayer concerns and prayer, music, highlights of the current

mission outreach, and any important announcements.

6:25pm – Children go to their age level classes. Our groups are:

Pre-K with Carissa Criswell

K-2nd

grades with Alma Ruth Michael

3-5th

grades with Greta Pitcher

7:00pm – Children and Youth return to the fellowship hall for

snack.

7:15pm – Parents arrive for pick up.

ACTS is intentionally mission focused. We seek to teach the

children and youth to think missionally as they learn about

sharing God’s love. Recently, Mrs. Greta’s class started the

“Helping Hands” club – it has now spread throughout the ages,

including many adults – ask one of the children how YOU can be

a member!

So….how can you help?

1) PRAY for ALL our children and teachers.

2) Sign up with Amy Davis to be a prayer partner for one of our Youth or Children.

3) Sign up with Judy Gregory to prepare a snack (or donate money towards snack) one night.

4) Invite children and youth you know to be part of ACTS.

Hope you have a blessed week! You are each in my prayers!

Donate Your Shoes

From now until October 31, Lakeshore Camp and Retreat Center is collecting new and gently used shoes for its Funds2Orgs Shoe Drive Fundraiser. Funds2Orgs is an organization focused on helping churches, nonprofits, schools and civic groups raise money to continue their work.

Funds2Orgs will pay Lakeshore for every pair of shoes it collects. These shoes will be sent to developing countries where they will be cleaned, refurbished and used to help people start businesses.

We are accepting all types of gently used or new footwear (children and adult sizes) - including tennis shoes, boots, flip flops, dress shoes, cleats, golf shoes, etc. - and are asking everyone to get involved. Our goal is to raise $50,000 so we need lots and lots of shoes.

This is a great way to support the camp and do something worthwhile with any shoes your family no longer needs. The Lakeshore staff will pick up your donations or shoes can be dropped off Newbern First UMC or the Dyersburg District Office

For more information, contact Lakeshore's Director of Development, Bill Walker, at 731-584-6102 (office), 731-394-8794 (cell), or [email protected].

There will be no ACTS Oct 8 due to fall break. We will be collecting canned goods and nonperishable foods in October for our mission project. These will be for the local George Butler food pantry and RRM food pantry.

We are pairing up our youth with adult church members for prayer partners. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please notify Amy Davis.

Woof! Lately, I’ve been sneaking

into Melanie’s bed at night. I

think momma and daddy know,

but they haven’t said anything

to me. They have a really slick

floor in their room, and it’s hard to get in their

bed – so I just bunk with Mel. Don’t tell momma

that I really kinda like Mel. ;) ~ El
