The stage finalists will now move on to represent Engadine West PS at the Woronora River Network finals on Tuesday 11 September 2018. The standard of public speaking at Engadine West PS is outstanding. Thankyou to all students for their contributions throughout the public speaking program. Adult Street Library
We have exciting news! After the huge success of the Engadine West PS student street library, we are very pleased to launch a street library with books suitable for adults. The adult street library is located outside the library and will offer free second hand books to all adults who visit our school. Please feel free to take a book to enjoy. The Australian public is pulling together to generously support our struggling farmers through this terrible drought. The SRC at Engadine West PS would love our school community to do the same! We are planning a gold coin mufti day farmer fundraiser on Wednesday 15 August 2018.

Stewart House Clothing Appeal
Interrelate Family Evening
Every year Stewart House benefits financially from collections of clothing in schools. The Smith Family generously provides bags and undertakes the collection and pays Stewart House for each kilogram received. About $18,000 is raised each year from this collection. Stewart House has been working in partnership with The Smith Family for more than 60 years. This recycling operation helps schools in NSW run clothing drives to collect good quality clothes and accessories for resale or export in Smith Family stores. School clothing drives are an important source of good quality new and near-new clothing, helping to keep our stock levels high. Engadine West PS is once again collecting clothing for this very worthwhile charity. Clothing bags were sent home recently and will be collected on 22 August 2018 (additional bags available from the school office). Please donate good quality, wearable clothing and return bags to the basement for collection by: Thankyou for supporting Stewart House.

Engadine West PS will be hosting an Interrelate Family Evening Program for the school community. Interrelate is a specialist organisation with over 90 years’ experience teaching sexuality and relationship education in NSW schools. Interrelate educators are highly trained and skillful presenters. The topic of sexuality is handled with sensitivity, openness and humour. The program offers an interactive approach to learning, with a variety of audio-visual materials, discussions and games. These workshops are the same as those offered last year, however, it is not our intention to hold the workshops next year. The next workshops will be held in 2020 and we plan on continuing a two year cycle after that. Date: Wednesday 5 September 2018 Location: Engadine West PS school hall Cost: $30 per family to attend one session $35 per family to attend both sessions Please return the permission note and payment slip sent home by Friday 31 August 2018 (a copy of the note may be found on the school website under the ‘Notes and Forms’ tab).

Super Debaters On Tuesday both Stage 3 debating teams competed in their last debate against one another in the Premiere's Debating Challenge. The girls have worked extremely hard over the last two terms, attending weekly lunch time training sessions, workshops and debates. Congratulations to all the girls! Internet Safety and Cyber Bullying Social networking sites are extremely popular with young people and adults alike. These sites can be a great way for people to communicate and express themselves. There are, however, risks that come with the use of these sites. We recommend parents take the time to have a look at this site and discuss internet safety with their children. Do you know what your child is doing online? Canteen News
From Monday 6 August to 21 September 2018 the canteen will be taking part in the ‘Eat Fresh and Win’ campaign in conjunction with Sydney Markets. Each time students make a ‘healthy’ selection from the canteen, they are rewarded with a sticker to add to their entry form. Once two stickers are collected, return the form to the canteen for a prize!
