Each individual builds working models of the worldand o f himself in it, with the aid of which he perceivesevents, forecasts the future, and constructs his plans. Inthe working mod els of the w orld that anyone builds akey feature is his notion o f who his attachment figuresare , where they may be found, and how they m ay beexpected to respond. Similarly, in the w orking modelof the se lf that anyone builds a ke y feature is his notionof how acceptable or unacceptable he himself is in theeyes o f his attachment figures.
