CONTENTS

Magi Pilgrimages is primarily promoting Catholic and Christian groups to Holy Land and Europe from all over the world. We have operations in countries like the USA, UK, Germany, Israel, India, Thailand, Ireland, Switzerland and Australia.

Our pilgrimages have a greater emphasis on reflection of the lives of the saints and scriptures at various sites. We have evening sessions at the hotel to share the experiences of pilgrims and an orientation for the youth who journey with their parents.

Uncompromising with our quality standards, we give you luxury, and the prompt, efficient and quality service that you are accustomed to. We are constantly looking to improve and extend our product range, and are always happy to custom made itineraries to suit our customers needs or special interests.

In Australia, we are a licensed travel agent, and an approved participant of the AFTA Travel Accreditation Scheme (ATAS).

Who doesn’t like holidays? The travel, the exploring, the food, the sites, the difference in the air that you breathe, the break from

the chaos of routine! So, what’s special about a Pilgrimage? How is it different from the usual holidays?

This word first seemed to appear in the western vocabulary and soon came be associated with ‘a sense of purpose’. It wasn’t just a wander or a break from routine but a special journey made with an intention to bring about positive changes in life. The book “Image & Pilgrimage in Christian culture” by Victor Turner and Edith Turner examines two major aspects of pilgrimage practice: the significance of context, giving rise to pilgrimage and the folk traditions enabling worshippers to absorb the meaning of the event.

SITES FOR THE SOUL

Pilgrimage is a special journey, for exploring faith or gaining spiritual direction, for themselves and their lives.

New York Times once printed this article about Brian Kwan, a young photographer in Colorado Springs, who was born to Buddhist parents but was later converted to Christianity at the age of 16. When his father died suddenly, he began to question his faith. He decided to hike the Jesus Trail, a four-day, 40-mile journey from Nazareth to the Sea of Galilee. He carried no luggage. At one-point Mr Kwan ran out of food and water and became disoriented. He wandered in the heat for 10 hours. “That was the scariest part,” he said, “but I knew that God was with me, and that my dad was with me, too.” His experience proved pivotal, and when he reached the Jordan River, he chose to become baptized.

Regardless of why you wish to go on a pilgrimage, there is always a personal underlying search to get deeper in to the mysteries of faith for every pilgrim. It is not just to see the beauty in the world, but to see the richness of a history we all are a part of basically, pilgrimages are a gesture of action.

In a world where more and more things are artificial and passing, a sacred journey gives the pilgrim the chance to experience something both physical and real.

As appealing as the destination may be, it is the journey within, that takes these unique travellers to places unmapped.

We had never before travelled in a group so initially we were a little apprehensive. But the trip turned out to be absolutely tremendous and we enjoyed every minute of it. The guides were knowledgeable and very considerate and became a part of our family. Our chaplain Fr Joseph was excellent and was the true shepherd looking after his flock. Magi had the right mix which helped the group to share. Well done Magi. It was very professional. Keep up the good work!

It was a good introduction to Greece and to see where St Paul went and the distance he travelled. The conference, St Paul: Persecutor to Preacher helped to picture more clearly the places when reading Paul's letters.

I now have a much greater feeling and understanding of faith. Each place we visited had something spiritual and the Bible came to life for me.

Barbara Mcleod, BrisbaneFootprints of Jesus

I would just like to thank you all for the organising and planning to make our Holy Land Tour a memorable one. It is not easy to organise for such a big group and we thank you all for your hard work and extra effort to ensure we had a great pilgrimage experience.

Dalreen Thomas, MelbourneHoly Land Special

I chose a pilgrimage journey for my Principal’s Renewal Program as a source of spiritual strength, thanksgiving & repentance. The journey took me to many significant places in Europe. It was a lovely and beautiful experience.
