Pinal County:The county of Pinal was formed in 1875. It is located in the central part of Arizona and its population was 375,770 in 2010 census. The Gila River and part of the San Carlos Indian Reservation are located in Pinal County.
Casa Grande:Casa Grande is a city in Pinal County and located approximately halfway between Phoenix and Tucson and founded in 1879. It is the second largest community in the county with a year round population of 48,571 residents. Casa Grande is named after a Hohokam Indian Ruin which is one of the four major prehistoric archaeological. Its market consists of more than 91,000 consumers. Casa Grande Outlet sites attract more than two million shoppers a year. It has also added a new addition of 1,000,000 square foot shopping mall called The Promenade at Casa Grande, which has national retail stores, restaurants and a movie theater. The city offers many facilities and activities for its residence and visitor including four golf courses, libraries, fitness and racquet clubs, two museums, two senior centers, a bowling center, an archery range. The city has more than 18 parks many that have ramadas, tennis courts, softball diamonds, handball courts and play-ground equipment.
City of Maricopa:The city of Maricopa was incorporated in 2003 and it is the 19th largest city in the state of Arizona with a population of 43,482 residents. It is located 20 miles south of Phoenix and 20 miles north/west from the city of Casa Grande. The city lies approximately 15 miles west of the I10 Freeway and about 15 miles north of I8 Freeway. The city of Maricopa is still the closest stop from Phoenix on the Amtrack Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle Trains. The city is one of the most productive farm communities in the state with crops of fruits, vegetables and cotton. Maricopa is home many wonderful amenities such as golf courses, parks and Estrella Mountain where one can enjoy horseback riding, hiking and bike riding. Maricopa hosts a variety of special events throughout the year such as Founder’s Day, Salsa Festival, Holiday Homes on Parade, Stagecoach Days, Parent-Child fishing Derby, Great American Barbecues, Mysterious Mansion Mayhem and Movies in the Park.
Coolidge:Coolidge is 56 miles South/East of Phoenix and 69 miles North/West of Tucson. It is 21 miles North of Casa Grande and 11 miles South of Florence. Coolidge is home to the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument built in 1200 AD and it is the first historic site to receive pro-tected status by United States Government in 1892. The city was incorporated in 1945 and has a population of 12,500 residents. The city was named after our 30th President of the United States, Calvin Coolidge. Coolidge has a main campus of Central Arizona College, which is Pinal County’s higher education center. Coolidge Cotton Terminal is a shuttle that takes people to certain areas. There library offers many resources to the community, including public access computers, and frequent author signings from best seller authors.
Arizona City:Arizona City located mid-way between Phoenix and Tucson along the I 10 freeway. Arizona City had a population of 10,475 in 2010 cen-sus. The city was founded in 1953 and offers a 48 acre manmade lake, an 18 hole golf course, club house and server parks and restaurants. Shopping is limited in Arizona City. For shopping needs, residents travel to Eloy or Casa Grande. Arizona City offers horseback riding, biking, hiking and even rock hounding gems.
Eloy:The city of Eloy is surrounded by an agricultural area of cotton, vegetable, fruit, nut and ostrich farms. The Population of the city is 10,855. Eloy is surrounded by beautiful mountains like Picacho Peak which is the site of the only Civil War battle in Arizona. Eloy is the largest employer of Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). It houses the majority of Hawaii’s male prison inmate population. Eloy is also the worlds largest skydive dropzone. The name Eloy comes from the European name meaning the “Chosen” or the “Chosen One”. It is located below the I8 Freeway, and I10 Freeway. The city offers a library, an airport, 8 parks, a swimming pool, 4 tennis courts, 3 recreation centers, 2 volleyball courts, a skateboard park, and over 700 acres of industrial park space.
Florence:Florence is a town of Pinal County and has a population of 25,536 in 2010 census. The city is located midway between Phoenix and Tuc-son. The town’s Main Street has more than 130 National Historical buildings and is home to the annual “County Thunder” music festival. There are two Arizona Department of Corrections prisons in Florence, the male death row and State of Arizona execution chamber. Points of interest are the McFarland State Historic Park and St Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Monastery.
