Who we areWe are Pixelfarm, a digital driven creative agency. We believe great digital work is about connecting people and brands. In order to do this we treat consumers as people and make brands more human.

We believe ideas can come from anywhere and anyone. That’s why Pixelfarm is an eclectic mix of people who have a passion for digital. Digital natives who use their passions, talents and vision to spark brilliant ideas and craft surprising digital solutions every day. We’ve worked for Reebok, Ambi Pur, GOGO, Samsung, Douwe Egberts, The Erasmus University and other big brands but also work for smaller companies. We’ve won FWA’s, BIMA’s and other awards. But more importantly; we get things done, book results, focus on the personality of a brand and find out what we can do for them in the long run.

Social media strategy and implementation for RSM MBAThe MBA department of RSM (Rotterdam School of Management) wanted to engage their target group on Facebook and build a stronger brand online. The challenge was that Rotterdam and therefor the university is hard to market with competition from London and other international cities. Instead of saying what a wonderful city Rotterdam is, we focused on the uniqueness of the Netherlands as well as the student life within RSM.

We started with the styling of their new Facebook page, as well as setting up a series of ad campaigns in the form of sponsored stories to attract new fans. Next, the tagging of photos, promotional actions amongst students and the Facebook campaign “Day in the Life” further increased the amount of fans and built the necessary engagement..

The campaign

The Day in the Life was an interactive story where fans could see what a day in the life of a students looks like. They could also interact directly with Alex Dalley, principal of the story.

Results

The page grew from 9 to more than 13,000 fans. Furthermore the MBA department saw a rise in applications and information requests from foreign students. Alex Dalley, principal of “Day in the Life” got the prestigous “MBA Student of the Year Award“.

Our Work

Reebok PowerbootReebok approached us to create a promotional iPhone game for two new football boots. The goal was to create a fun and addictive game that showed the differentiation between the two boots; speed and power. So we crafted an addictive retro styled action soccer game in the line of Adidas power soccer where you could play as either Thierry Henry or Ryan Giggs.

In the game you can activate the boot’s special powers by shaking the device and either shoot flaming balls or use rocket shots that clear the way. This action packed game with little red pumas, Ronaldos and mad referees was translated into 5 different languages.

Reebok Lewis HamiltonFor Reebok we crafted a sleek microsite that portrayed Lewis Hamilton as an ambassador for Reebok’s new line of apparel and shoewear. The detailed animations on the site portray what Lewis Hamilton has to endure during a training session. Think washing machine showing how much fluid he looses in a single race. The site got mentioned on the FWA.

Our Work

RSM MobileFor RSM (Rotterdam School of Management) we concepted, designed and developed an iPhone and Android application. The app was targeted at both prospect students and current students. Instead of building a branded app we decided to focus on what’s really important; the current students. Current RSM students can now check their grades and timetable on the go.

Prospect students can check where they need to go on the interactive campus map, they can sign up for events and get in touch with other students through the student network. A programme finder and expertise search were also crafted so prospect students could easily find what they were looking for.

Saint GobainFor ISOVER, an insulation material manufacturer we were asked to craft an interactive presentation that would raise awareness about the importance of sound insulation and educate professionals on how to implement the product. We build a very extensive online tool with 3D walls that could be transformed, schematics, animations and other digital ways to raise awareness.

Our Work

RSM.nlFor RSM (Rotterdam School of Management) we rebranded their website. With a stunning 8.000 pages, a complex Typo3 Content Management System and various objectives, the rebranding and redevelopment was packed with challenges. We worked closely together with several departments within RSM and explored various creative concepts. The final concept and design was tested in the EBL (Erasmus Behavioral Lab) that measured the usability and structure of the site as well as the general impression of the target groups. Pixelfarm also worked up the interactive video concept that allows current students to talk frankly about their experiences with RSM and about studying and living in Rotterdam. The videos were used as a central part in the various landing pages and homepage to provide prospect students a unique insight into the life of a RSM student.

Our Work

Werkenbijhouthoff.comHouthoff Buruma, the second biggest law firm in the Netherlands, wanted a new recruitment website to attract top legal talent and to streamline the process of applying. While most law firms focus on the hard skills of candidates, this website focuses on the emotional aspect and experience by showing what it’s like to work for Houthoff Buruma. To achieve this we used videos from interns, candidates and staff to convey the unique atmosphere and culture of Houthoff Buruma.

And with success. Because of this website the procedure of applying for internships and positions at Houthoff Buruma was streamlined and they witnessed a big increase in applicants. The website also got nominated for a “Gouden Cursor“.

Our Work

I WILL REUNITEIWILL wanted to promote their reunion event. Pixelfarm pitched an idea on how to communicate this and get participants involved. We used LinkedIn as a basis, as 80% of the target group has a LinkedIn profile. The success of this event depended greatly on the people who attended and we needed a way to show to everyone who would attend.

Using this as a starting point, we crafted a microsite that allowed people to see who would attend. We build an interactive mosaic wall where participants were able to connect using their LinkedIn profile. As a bonus, participants could also download their own mosaic photo and use this as a profile image for their Facebook or LinkedIn account.

X-TravelX-Travel is a travel organization focused on teenagers looking for a trip to Salou or Blanes. For this campaign the aim was to “raise hell” and spread the word through Hyves. So we came up with something that showed what to expect when booking a trip with X-Travel. By visiting the campaign on Hyves you could select the friends you wanted to prank. These friends then got a message saying “What the hell happened to your profile?” Upon visiting their profile they saw it being transformed X-Travel style.

This meant loads of new sexy friends, hot and steamy messages from vacation love interests and a nice summery styled profile. The campaign was a huge success with over 1 million unique views, 40,000 invitations and a couple of disturbing emails to Hyves of people wondering what just happened.
