Specific admission requirementsGeneralIn order to be eligible to this bachelor's degree, students must hold the high-school diploma or legallyequivalent qualification. Application can also be made through the following special entry routes:

Students coming from the Portuguese education system through re-admission, degree change and●

transfer schemes;Holders of a Foundation Course Diploma (CET);●

Adults aged more than 23 who have passed tailor-made examinations intended to assess their ability●

to pursue higher education studies;Holders of Intermediary or Graduate degree diplomas;●

Students coming from foreign higher education.●

Access requirements include one of the following examinations: 03 Drawing, 10 Geometry or 12History of Culture and Arts.

Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning (formal, non-formal and informal)

GeneralProcedures on the recognition of credits gained in previous learning are established in the regulationsfor the Recognition and Validation of Qualifications and Skills of ESTT-IPT available athttp://webmanager.ipt.pt/mgallery/default.asp?obj=4536

SpecificNot applicable.

Qualification requirements and regulations:In the polytechnic system, the academic cycle leading to the bachelor´s degree corresponds to 180 credits and has anormal duration of six curricular semesters. One full-time curricular semester corresponds to the work carried outin 40 weeks (1620 hours, i.e. 40.5 hours per week in average). The number of credits corresponding to the workcarried out full-time over a period of a year is 60 and the one corresponding to a semester is 30. One ECTS creditcorresponds to a 27-hour workload.

Profile of the program:

The degree in Plastic Arts - Painting and Intermedia confers a higher-level comprehensive professional profilequalifying the graduates to perform their professional activities with accuracy and actuality in the different domainsof culture, particularly in the plastic arts domain. Both areas provide a whole set of skills designed so as to providea wide range of career opportunities in similar circumstances to those offered by renowned European highereducation institutions.

Key learning outcomes:

Artistic development is the basis of world culture. The rapid technological development observed at global levelconstitutes a cultural and social challenge that creates internationalisation opportunities for the various Portugueseartistic and cultural sectors specially for visual arts, requiring innovation and competitiveness.

This programme is intended to train professionals prepared to work in a labour market that requires high levels ofself-discipline, independence and altruism.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples:

The career prospects for plastic artists graduated from IPT include the following possibilities: sculptor, painter,technical drawer, animator-animation movies, creative draftsman (advertising), illustrator, cultural journalist,engraver, screen printer, audiovisual technician and photographer.

Access to further studies:

The bachelor's degree in Plastic Arts- Painting and Intermedia gives access to second-cycle and postgraduateprogrammes according to applicable admission regulations.

Examination regulations, assessment and grading

GeneralGeneral assessment rules are in line with the Portuguese law and described in the AcademicRegulations of ESTT-IPT available at http://webmanager.ipt.pt/mgallery/default.asp?obj=4539.

The licenciado degree is awarded a final grade between 10 and 20 within a 0/20 scale as well as itsequivalent in the European grading scale.

Course contentes Photography. Study of some instruments used in modern audiovisual production: photography, video andinstallation. Film watching. Structure of a film or video. Film script and storyboard. Basic exercises onfilm-making and lighting. Digital capture and editing. Formatting of video and audio outputs (DVDAuthoring). Short film production.
