A word of thanks and appreciation from the Salvation Army. A big
thank you to Broadway Promenade residents and staff for volunteering
and ‘ringing the bell to fill the Red Kettle’. Thanks to Jane Sattler, Lorelei
Paster, Edward Russell, Stacia Searcy, Savanna Searcy, Mark Landwer,
Carlotta O’Hura and Jo Rita Stevens.
The Salvation Army provides assistance to many less fortunate individu-
als in our community. All the funds raised in Sarasota stay local.
Thank you again for serving in this important mission activity
-Jo Rita Stevens, Coordinator
JANUARY FACTS and TRIVIA
January in the Northern Hemisphere is the seasonal equivalent to July in the
Southern Hemisphere and vice versa.
According to Facebook users, January is “Change Your Profile Picture To A
Muppet Month”.
January 1st, 1776, the first American flag, the “Grand Union” was presented.
Betsy Ross later added the stars in place of the Union Jack.
Leap years exempted, January always begins on the same day as October.
January is National Soup Month in the United States.
The 1st New Year’s ball drop was at Times Square in 1908.
The month of January derives its name from a two-faced God named Janus; one
face looked forward to the future while the other look backward to the past.
Nathan’s Helpful Maintenance Tips
Fire alarms in your unit are NOT TO BE REMOVED. If you have
any issue with it, call the front desk and they can notify the alarm
company. These alarms are part of the fire system in the entire
building and are monitored and maintained by a company off site. It
is against the law to disconnect or remove these devices from your
unit. The company is alerted when the alarms are tampered with
and immediately come out for a service call. All cost associated with
this will be billed back to the unit owner.
The smoke alarms are completely separate from the building system
and are to be maintained by the unit owner, and batteries changed
regularly.
