Playground Roles and Responsibilities

What jobs do the children do to make playtimes better for all?

Y4 Playground Buddies

• Collect Equipment• Check it is stored tidily• Report broken items to

Mrs Wilder.• Order new play

equipment they think would be of use.

• Help with the little ones in the Foundation Stage Playground.

Sports Leaders

• Are usually Y6 but can be Y5, once trained and supported by experienced Y6.

• Plan and lead activities• Think about indoor and outside

games and tasks• Have training from older

children and Mrs Dickinson.• Report to Mrs Wilder ideas and

resourcing needs (What they need and where)

• Train up new Sports Leaders.

Playground Mediators: Y5

• Keep an eye on the Buddy Stop• Make sure anyone playing on their own is

included in an activity• Help younger children to sort squabbles or

misunderstandings• Seek support from MSAs or staff on morning

break duties, as needed.• Add items to the Worry Box if they are

concerned and have not had a chance to talk to Mrs Wilder or their teacher.

What do the MSAs need all of you to do?

• Be excellent role models for the younger children.

• Talk to them about their suggestions.

• Think about where they ought to be during wet playtimes.

• Come up with good ideas as to how we can make our playtimes even better for everyone.

• Suggest people YOU think should be recognised by the termly MSA awards.

What about the Leadership Team?

• We want to know your ideas for clubs, beyond sport.

• We are keen for you to contribute to buying and ordering the equipment and using the site in exciting ways.

Dining Room Monitors

• Set up tables.• Help younger children with water and

cutting food.• Support during Reception Induction Days.• Choose music?• Supervise Reception leaving dining Room

and going outside.• Make sure all have clean hands before

eating.

• After School Club to have own toys.• New ideas for clubs to go in Suggestion Box.• Colourful caps to be worn by Sports Leaders to show they are on duty.• Mrs Wing to develop art resources for lunchtime.• Mrs Wilder to get playground chalks.• Box of books and colouring sheets now available.• Dressing up box to be introduced.• Reintroduce parachute.• Badges for Buddies sorted and presented in Assembly.• Anyone showing real promise as a mediator this side of July, to receive a second

badge as Playground Monitor.• Mr Eke to organise Skipping Workshops for Autumn term. • Y6 children to photograph all opportunities available for lunchtimes for a powerpoint.• Mr Carpenter (Jr) to lead rounders, athletics and other sports events eg World Cup.• Y6 pupils to answer phones in office over lunchtime and take messages.
