    NOTE: This walkthrough is based on the Fire Red version of thegame. There are some differences between Fire Red and Leaf Green. The adventure begins. You start out in your room. Before you go downthe stairs, you might want to take out a potion out of your PC. Now,head down the stairs and out of the house. If you tried to go to the lab,you'll find out that Professor Oak is not in the lab, and only your soonto be rival. (for convenience sake we shall call the rival as Blue fromnow on).Now head north out of the town to Route 1. Before you can proceedany further, you'll be stopped by none other than Professor Oak. He willtell you to follow him to the laboratory.

    Here, Professor Oak would give two pokemon for both you and Blue. Youmay pick first. Head to the table with three pokeballs on it. On the left,is Bulbasaur a grass Pokemon. On the middle is Squirtle a water Pokemon,on the right is Charmander a fire Pokemon. After choosing your starter,it is your rival's turn to pick his starter. Now that both of you aredone, head for the exit. Here Blue will tell you that he wants to battleyou.

    Rival Battle #1If you choose Bulbasaur:Blue Pokemon: Charmander lvl 5

    If you choose Charmander:Blue Pokemon: Squirtle lvl 5

    If you choose Squirtle:Blue Pokemon: Bulbasaur lvl 5

    This battle shouldn't be too hard. That potion you picked up from the PCwill help greatly for this battle. There arenn't really any strategiesinvolved for this battle, since both your pokemon and Blue's Pokemononly knew the basic attack. (Tackle, Scratch, etc). If you win, yourPokemon will gain a level.

    Cerulean Gym Leader Battle: Misty========================| Pokemon | Level |========================| Staryu | 18 || Starmie | 21 |========================

    Two words: Water Pulse. That's pretty much sums up what you are goingto face. The Water Pulse attack would be your biggest trouble againstthem. Staryu is relatively easy, but Starmie is a challenge even forElectric Pokemon if you haven't levelled up enough. Bulbasaur usersshouldn't find much problem, although it's good luck to Charmander usersif they didn't levelled up high enough. Take no chance and use yourstrongest attack everytime. After the battle, Misty will give you theCascade badge as well as TM 03 - Water Pulse.

    Now you're done with the gym leader, it's time to head north to the

    Nugget Bridge. Here, you'll fight your rival once more.

    If you choose Squirtle:Pidgeotto level 17Rattata level 15Abra level 16Bulbasaur level 18

    Nothing too hard here. Pidgeotto could be challenge, but Ratatta andAbra could be taken care of quite easily. As for your rival's starter,you should have no problem if you have a Pokemon with type advantageover them. If you managed to defeat him, you'll get the voice checker.

    It could be found in the key items section of your bag.

    It's time for the Nugget Bridge challenge now. You'll fight 5 trainershere. (not consecutively). they should be taken care of quite easily,considering you make it this far. At the end of the nugget bridge, you'llbe awarded a nugget. Useless, but it could sell for 5000 in the Pokemart.From the Nugget bridge. Head eastward. There will be a kind of mini mazehere with some trainers. You should have no problem getting past them.Moves on until you see a house. It's Bill House. The path behind thehouse is gone in this game though, so no Bulbasaur Garden, Charmander

You have no choice but tohelp him this time. Soon, a human pops up from the transporter machine- It's Bill!. As a reward for your help, he'll give you the S.S. Ticket.Time for the high seas now.

    Head back to Cerulean City, go to the house at the North-Eastern cornerof the city. Earlier, you might have notice that a policeman wasblocking the way. Go inside the ransacked house, and go out through theback door. Here you will fight another Team Rocket member. If youmanaged to defeat him, you'll get Tm 28 - Dig.

    Head south alongside the town to route 5 now. Continue going southuntil you see a small building on the right. This is the underground passto Vermillion City. Head down the underground pass, and you'll findyourself in route 6. There not much to do in this route. There's somewild Pokemon and a few trainers. In any case head south until you arrivein a city.

    ============================================G. Vermillion City - The Sea and the Surge============================================

    First thing first, you'll notice that you can't go to the gym. You'llneed to have to teach your Pokemon cut HM. Now, head to the dock for theSS Anne. If you've gotten the SS ticket from Bill earlier, you should beable to enter the ship. Once you eter the S.S. Anne, head left and takethe stairs down. From here head down until you can't go any further andhead right. Soon, you'll meet your rival once more, and another battlewill ensue.

    He'll be grateful for you helping him and as a reward HM 01 is nowyours. You might want to stick in the ship a little bit longer, sinceif you leave now, the ship will set sails. Once you're done, get offthe ships and watch as the SS.Anne sails away.

    Before you proceed any further, you might want to visit the PokemonCenter. Here, there's a girl by the counter. Talk to her to get theVS seeker, The VS seeker is one of the new features in this game. Byusing this device, you will be able to battle trainers you have foughtpreviously. To use this device, go to your key items pack and selectVS seeker near a trainer. Talk to the trainer again, and you'll beable to fight them again. There are no limit on the number of timesyou can use this device, although each usages require you to walk100 steps to recharge it.

    Now that you've got the HM 01. You can cut away the tree blockingVermillion gym. Head for the gym and defeat the junior trainers.The Gym Leaders room are blocked by two rays of lasers though. To getpast to the room you need to press the switch that could be found inthe trash bins filling the gym. The location are random, but the secondswitch is always next to the first switch. Bearing this in mind, itshould be easier to solve the puzzle. Once you're done, head to thegym leader room and talk to Lt Surge.

    once you defeat Lt Surge. Now with three badges in your hand its timeto head for the next town. However, before you leave make sure you checkout the Pokemon Fan Club HQ at the Western part of the city. Now, the game could be pretty much non-linear. With surf, you can gofor Cinnabar Island or you can go to Saffron City. In order to keepthings simple, we'll go to Saffron first.

    ===============================M. Safron city and Silph Co===============================

    If you haven't get the key items from the woman in Celadon Mansionearlier, it's time to get it. Once you've gotten the items, head to theone of the Saffron gates. Here, the guards will ask you whether you willgive him a drink (the key items). Afterwards, he will let you pass.You've arrived at Saffron City, the biggest city in the game. If you goNorth, you'll notice that there are two gyms here. However only thepsychic gym will give you the badge. At the moment, there are team rocketmember blocking the way to the psychic gym. Now you have the choicewhether you want to go to Fighting Dojo or head straight to Silph Co.

Here, you'll find yourself in the north-eastern warp point in another room. Head to the South-West cornerof the room and use the warp point. Now you should be transportedto the gym leader's room.

    ========================

    To old players, do you remember this gym in the original games.Psychic Pokemon used to be the powerhouse in the original game. ThisGym was no exception. Battle against Sabrina was one of the thoughestgym leader battle in the riginal R/B/Y. Not anymore. With thesplit in Special categories, and some dark moves available in thegame, beating Sabrina should be easier now. Once you defeat Sabrina,you'll get the Marsh Badge and TM 04 - Calm Mind.

    It's time to head for Cinnabar now.

    ===============================N. Cinnabar - The Fiery Island===============================

    Now, fly back to Pallet town. From here, head south of the town, anduse surf on the sea. From here, things are quite straight forward.you only need to surf southwards, until you see an island.

    Quite possibly the hardest battle so far. Use Electric Pokemon as usualon Pidgeot. Water Pokemon on Rhyhorn. If you have dark Pokemon use themon Alakazam. Growlithe/Exeggcute are pretty much easier compared to theothers. Once you've defeated him, head West, enter the building. Here,just go North passing through all the guards who ask you for the badges.Keep doing so until you see an entrance for Victory Road.

    Victory Road

    Once you enter Victory Road, you'll see a boulder. Using a Pokemon withStrength HM, push the boulder all the way to the switch on the right. Now,head for the stairs and walk on until you see two stairs. There will bea trainer along the way. The right stairs down lead to a Rare Candy andTM 02. Head for the left stairs to continue. Walk on until you see aladder up. Fight the trainer beside it if you want.

    Climb up the ladder. Here you'll see boulders again. Go to the bouldersat your south and push it towards the switch. Now, head for the stairs.Go East all the way, fighting the blackbelt. Here, you'll see a boulder on top of you. Go to the boulders, and pushit North until it's one square away from the wall. From here, push theboulder all the way to the West until you can't go further. You shouldbe able to see a switch by now. Drag the boulder to the switch. Youmay want to take an item containing TM 50 - Overheat. Now, go back tothe ladder in this floor where you come from earlier. From here, head

    Firstly, you would need to beat the Elite Four and obtain the NationalDex. The National Dex could be gotten from Professor Oak after you'vebeaten the Elite Four and captured at least 60 Pokemon. If you'vecaptured 60 Pokemon or more when you beat the Elite Four, Professor Oakwill automatically take you to his lab and give you the National Dex.Now, you've gotten the National Dex, it's time to get Ruby and Sapphire.

    First of all, talk to the scientist near the machine in Island 1. Now,head North to the mountain where you get Moltres. Here, you should seea cave opens up behind the two Team Rocket guy. Approach them and you'llbe in for a fight. It shouldn't be a hard battle. In any case, go intothe cave after you've beaten the two rocket minions. The cave is prettystraightforward. You'll encounter Slugma here, the first among JohtoPokemon that you'll be sseing more later in the game. In any case, godeeper into the cave until you reach a chamber with braille inscriptionall over it. This is nothing but the alphabet. From here, head down theladder and you'll end up in another chamber. Here, you should see a redgem in the middle of the room. This is the Ruby. Take it and bring itback to the scientist. In return, he'll give you the Rainbow ticket.

    Now the Ruby is taken care of, it's time to get the Sapphire. It'slocated in Island 6, which is now acessible using the Rainbow ticket.Before that though, we need to do something. If you choose to go to

    When you breed two Rattata together, you know that you're going to geta Rattata. However, what if you decided to breed a Rattata and a Meowth?What will you get? In this case, there are two distinct possibilities:

    You either get a Meowth or a Rattata. In the case whereby two differentPokemon are put for breeding, the offspring will be of the female ofthat species. Breeding a Male Meowth and a Female Rattata will get youa level 5 Rattata of either gender, whereby breeding a Male Rattataand Female Meowth will get you a level 5 Meowth.

    Also, an offspring from a breeding process will produce the most basicPokemon from an evolution chain. For example, breeding a Male Raticateand Female Persian will get you a Meowth and not a Persian. As a resultof this, there are some unique baby Pokemon such as Pichu, Elekid, Cleffa.Let's take Pikachu and Raichu as an example. Breeding between a maleand Female Pikachu, or between male and female Raichu will always getyou Pichu, and not Pikachu. There are exception to this rule though.

    Two Pokemon - Wobuffet and Marill do not follow this pattern. BreedingMale and Female Wobbuffet, or Male and Female Marill will get youWobbbufeet and Marill respectively, this despite both of them having ababy form (Wynaut and Azurill). In order to get Wynaut and Azurill, youneed to give the male Wobuffet and Marill/Azumarill a hold items - Laxincense and Sea incense.

    Using Ditto to breed is another exception. For regular breeding, you'llalways get the female species as the offspring. However, breeding withDitto always get you that Pokemon. For example, breeding a MaleRatata and Ditto also get you Ratatta.

    Inherited Moves \=================

    Through Breeding, you'll be able to let your Pokemon learned new movesthat it usually won't learn naturally. There are two ways moves could bepassed down.

    1. For an Egg group moves, the male would need to know that particularmoves. This moves will be passed down to the child.

    2. If the male species of that Pokemon knows a move that is a TM move,the move will be passed down if the child is also able to learn that TM.

    =====================14. Item finder Guide=====================

    The Item Finder is a key items that could help you to locate hidden itemson the ground. The item finder could be obtained from one of theprofessor aide on the guard house in route 11. To get it, you'll needto catch 30 Pokemon.

    to use the item finder, go to your key items section in your bag, andjust choose it. the item finder will tell you whether there are hiddeditems nearby, If there aren't, the item finder will not detect anything.If there is a hidded item nearby, the item finder will response, andyou'll see a direction arrow above your character's sprite. In additionto that, there are a few special items, that only can be detected whenyou stand right below it.

    Below are the list of hidden items you can find using item finder:

    =====================15. Personality List=====================

    Just like Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, each Pokemon in Pokemon Fire/Leaf

    posses individual traits. These traits could have different effects onPokemon stats. For example, a Pokemon with Adamant personality willhave a higher attack stats relative to the Pokemon of the same species.At the same time, it would have a lower special attack compared to thePokemon of the same species. Below are the Personalities list.

    As we can see from the table, there aren't really any personality thatis better than the others. Each personality have their own benefit andadverse effects. It all depends on how you choose to use your Pokemon.However, we can see from the table that there are five neutralpersonalities.

    16. Shiny Pokemon===================This section is a contribution of xyzman

    Q.What the hell are the shinies?!? I never heard 'bout them.A.Shinies are pokemon with different color. For example, usual Gyarados isblue while shiny form of it is red(known to most of all from GSC).

    Q.So how can I tell that my pokemon is shiny?A.First of all, odd color of it. Second, when it enters the battle, goldensparkles appear near it, third, it's pokedex number in its stats pageis yellow instead of white. Also, some ppl say that you can't run from wildshiny pokemon.

    Q.What advantages or disadvantages of using the shiny in battle?A.Basically, except of bragging rights, shiny don't give any advantages inbattle. Their stats are still random.

    Q.But some guy said that shinies basically have preset average stats, so usingthem in metagame sucks...

    A.Well, really, in GSC age, IVs* determined whether pokemon is shiny or not:if Defence,Speed and Special IVs were equal to 10 and Attack IV was 2,3,6,7,10,11,14 or 15, then pokemon was shiny). In R/S/FR/LG, IVs don't influence"shinyness" so you can have maxed IVs shiny pokemon in your game.

    * IVs(or DVs) are variables which are randomly set when you obtain thepokemon. They determine its stats - pokemon with IVs equal to 0 lacks about

    30 stat points from maximum at lv.100. In RBYGSC, IVs vary from 0 to 15, inR/S they could change from 0 to 31.

    Q.So what does determine if pokemon shiny or not in Ruby/Sapphire/Fire Red/Leaf Green versions?

    A.Note:to understand this, you should be familiar with binary operations...Pokemon in game memory(RAM) are represented as 80-byte long block. First 8of them act as "passport" of pokemon - first 4 of 8 represent 32-bit randomnumber, randomly generated when you get the pokemon or its egg - it's knownas MAP or Pokemon ID. 5th and 6th are 16-bit invisible number given to
