Polycom 331 Desk Phone Configuration Guide  

Configuration Steps 

 

Phone  Setup   

○Initial Setup ○ Setup phone. ○ Plug Cat5 network cable into Network port ○ Connect power supply and let phone power up completely.  

○Obtain Phones IP Address  

○Hit the Menu button on the phone. ○Press down on the silver dial until you see “2 status”. Press the     check button. ○Press down on the silver dial until you see “2 network”. Press the   

  check button. ○Press the check button. The screen should display what looks like the   following “IP:192.168.1.104”, for example.   ○The above IP address into the address bar of your browser.  ○A box like the one below will appear. The username is Polycom and   the password is 456. Then hit the ok button.  

  

 

○You should see one of the home screens shown below.    This is the software up to version 3. Scroll down for newer version. 

 

  

  

 

Configuring Your Phone 

  

○Select the General tab at the top of the menu. You should see this    for version 3, scroll down for Version 4.  

    

 

○Select the Time sub­menu:  

  

○The server in the time menu should be us.pool.ntp.org as shown    below.  

  

○The GMT Offset will depend upon your geographic location:             ­5 Eastern             ­6 Central             ­7 Mountain             ­8 Pacific  ○Click the “Submit” button at the bottom of the menu after you select   the time zone.   ○Select the Lines tab on in the menu.  

   

○The selections pointed out below will be filled in with the phones     extension number. In this case 104.  

  

 ○The Display Name is what shows on your phones screen and inter­office    calls. In this case 355. 

 

   

○Transport, and Expires must be set as shown below. The port should be set    to a random 5 digit number. 

 

  ○The password and server address will be given to you in a separate   communication. (All five of the settings must be filled in)  

  

  ○Callback Contact & Callback Mode should be set as above.  ○Once all the info on this page has been entered as shown click the   “Submit” button at the bottom of the menu.   ○Once all the above has been done the phone will need to be   rebooted. This is done by pulling the power cable out of the phone. 

  Wait 5 to 10 seconds after removing it and put it back into the phone.   When the phone is finished powering up it should now register.    

The instructions for Firmware 4.0 and above are listed below. ○The method for ascertaining the IP address of the is the same   for the older firmware. Once entered the home screen will  look like this:  

  ○Select the date and time page as shown below:  

  ○The settings indicated below are the ones to be adjusted.    Select the server server shown from the drop down:   pool.ntp.org.   The GMT Offset will depend upon your geographic location:             ­5 Eastern             ­6 Central             ­7 Mountain             ­8 Pacific 

    ○Click the “Submit” button at the bottom of the menu after you select   the time zone. ○Select the Lines tab on in the menu.  

  ○The lines menu is as follows:  

  ○In the case above we are setting up extension 104. All four lines must be    filled out with the extension as shown above. The password will be given   to you in a separate document and must be filled in correctly.  ○We then need to set the server settings as shown below:  

  ○The server name will be given to you in a separate document and will    go in the top spot above labeled Address. The remaining two settings    should be set as shown above.  ○Under the Settings > Sip menu is the Local Settings menu, it is shown   below. Just one change needs to be made here, the Local Sip Port. It   will need to be changed to a random 5 digit number, i.e.: 42181.  

   ○The final step is to set the message menu as indicated below. It should    be set up exactly as shown:
