From Father O’Brien
I join all the staff at Pope John XXIII Parish in extending the
blessing of the Lord to everyone at Christmas. As God’s people we have
much to be grateful for, especially the gift of the Prince of Peace who is
our Savior and Redeemer. We pray that the many good activities during
this year will not distract us from the great reality of the presence of
Christ in our lives as we welcome and open ourselves to His presence
and love once again. Our prayers and blessings include all members of
our parish families even those unavoidably separated during this holy
season. We know and trust that it is in Christ that we are always united
to one another and in Him share the joy of Christmas. May we all know
that love and presence in a special way this year and find peace with the
Prince of Peace and one another.
A special thank you to all who are helping the parish for the
Christmas celebration. We thank all the decorators, the children in the
pageant, the parish choirs for a wonderful Lessons and Carols, Breakfast
with Santa celebration, and the behind the scene people, especially
Elizabeth Fallon, Kathy Przytula, Cathy Valente, Christine Kennedy and
Rick Phillips.
I extend specific thanks to everyone who participated in our
Giving Tree this year, donating the many thoughtful gifts to the families
and children of the area in need. We are grateful to the Human
Development Committee for organizing the gift giving and the Food
Pantry coordinators and volunteers for ensuring that those who depend
on Pope John XXIII Parish will have a special Christmas and share in the
blessings of Christmas.

Office of Victim Assistance/Safe Environment
Did you know students from Pre-K to Grade 12 in our Catholic School
and Faith Formation programs receive Safe Environment training
every year as required by the diocesan Child and Youth Protection
Policy? Our Safe Environment training addresses each grade level
with age appropriate curriculum to help our children and youth with
knowledge that can help keep themselves safe while providing this
instruction that is fully consistent with the moral teachings of the
Catholic Church. Last year, 15,00 students were trained throughout the
diocese.
Parents are reminded that children must always be
accompanied by an adult if they leave the worship
area during Mass. Please be aware this is a public
building and this policy is enforced for the safety of
the children. Thank You!
