Tengo 19 años y estoy en el segundo año

de arquitectura, carrera que estudio con

gran pasión.

No creo en la arquitectura del dicciona-

rio, la que organiza los espacios, sino en

la que los crea.

Deber ser el medio que comunique lo que

hemos sido, somos y seremos, no solo co-

mo individuos sino también como sociedad;

nuestro ideales, logros, fracasos…

La arquitectura deber ser la que cree los

lienzos donde expresemos nuestra identi-

dad y nos reconozcamos como seres hu-

manos.

I’m 19 years old, and in my second of ar-

chiecture, career that I study with great

passion.

I don’t believe in the architecture written

in the dictionary, the one that organizes

spaces, instead in the one that creates

them.

It should be a way to comunicate who we

were, are and will be, not only as indivi-

dual but also as a society; our ideals,

achievements, failures…

Architecture should be the one that crea-

tes the canvases where we express our

identity y recognize ourselves as human

beings.

INTRODUCTION

Este portafolio es la presentación de los

proyectos realizados durante el curso

Laboratorio de Arquitectura 3.

El curso obliga al estudiante a crear so-

luciones arquitectónicas mediante un pro-

ceso de diseño que, no sólo lo pone a

analizar e investigar, sino también a esta-

blecer variables que determinaran el ca-

mino que llevaran dichas soluciones y las

características de las mismas.

This portafolio is a presentation of the

proyects made during the grade Architec-

ture Lab 3.

The grade forces the students to create

architectural solutions through a design

process that, not only puts him to analize

and investigate, but also to establish va-

riables that determine the path those so-

lutions will take and their charateristics.

El proyecto busca que el estudiante reali-

ce una lectura del sitio; se sensibilice y

perciba características y necesidades es-

pecíficas del sitio: la Avenida 4, entre ca-

lles 2 y 9 (San José, Costa Rica), ¿Qué

quiere ser el sitio?

Con los resultados de la lectura del si-

tio, deber determinar cual es la principal

problemática presente el lugar y con ello

proponer una solución de diseño que im-

pacte la dinámica del sitio.

LA RUTINA

El sitio es un lugar de paso, una vía de

acceso diaria a comercios, centros reli-

giosos, educativos y de salud, que también

es utilizado por los transeúntes para ac-

ceder a sus lugares de trabajo.

The project seeks the student to conduct

a reading of the site, be sensitized and

perceive the characteristics and needs of

the site: 4th Avenue, between lanes 2 and

9 (San Jose, Costa Rica), What does the

site want to be?

With the results of the reading, has to

determine which is the main problem pre-

sent and propose a design solution that

will impact the dynamics of the site.

THE ROUTINE

The site is a transit, an everyday path to

businessses, religious, educational and

health centers, also used by a the pedes-

trians to access their workplaces.

EL CONCEPTO “ROMPER LA RUTINA”

Romper la rutina establecida por los

usuarios, la cual les permite hacer

sus actividades con rapidez, a la vez

que les brinda seguridad.

¿CÓMO SE PUEDE ROMPER LA RUTI-

NA?

Se cambia el flujo rectilíneo estable-

cido por los usuarios para acceder a

sus destinos, obligándolos a cambiar

ese flujo, e incluso, según el caso,

cambiar el destino original.

THE CONCEPT “BREAK THE ROUTINE”

Break the established routine that

allows the user to quickly make their

activities, at the same times it provides

them security.

¿HOW CAN YOU BREAK THE ROUTINE?

Changing the rectilinear flow esta-

blished by the users to acces their

destinations, forcing them to change

their flow, and even, depending of ca-

se, to change the original destination.

Para la realización de este proyecto, el

estudiante, no sólo debe realizar nueva-

mente una lectura del sitio, sino también

trabajar con una tema y un programa.

El estudiante deber trabajar con el tema

establecido para proponer un solución de

diseño, creando y utilizando a su vez el

programa como generador de ideas.

EL TEMA “ESPACIO DE LECTURA”

La propuesta de diseño debe ser un edifi-

cio ubicado al costado este de la Bibliote-

ca Nacional, donde esta el actual edificio

del SINABI (Sistema Nacional de Bibliote-

cas), el cual sea una espacio de lectura

para tanto usuarios de la Biblioteca como

externos a la misma. Junto con el diseño

del edificio, se debe diseñar el programa,

el cual debe incluir todas las actividades

que se desarrollarán en él.

For this project, the student must nos

only make the reading of the site again,

but also work with a topic and a schedu-

le.

The student must work with the establis-

hed topic to propose a design solution,

creating and using in turn the schedule

as a generator of ideas.

THE TOPIC “READING SPACE”

The proposed design should a building lo-

cated on the east side of the National Li-

brary, where is the current building of

the SINABI (National Librraries System),

which would a reading space for users

from inside and outside the library. Along

with the design of the building, must de-

sign the schedule, which should include

all the activities that would be taking pla-

ce in it.

EL CONCEPTO “INTERACCIÓN PÚBLICO-

PRVADO”

Buscar la interacción entre los espacios

abiertos y accesibles (espacios públicos)

y los espacios cerrados y aislados

(espacios privados).

¿CÓMO SE PUEDE CREAR LA INTERAC-

CIÓN?

Se crea uno o varios elementos que co-

necten los espacios públicos y privados,

pero que a su vez los delimite y permita

distinguir entre ellos.

THE CONCEPT “PUBLIC-PRIVATE INTERAC-

TION”

Search for the interaction between the

open and accessible (public spaces) and

the close and isolated spaces (private

spaces).

¿HOW CAN YOU CREATE THE NTERACTI-

ON?

Creating one or more elements that con-

nect the public and private spaces, but in

turn delimit the spaces and alllow to

distinguish between them.

The student must apply the knowledge

gain from the previous projects, the

reading of the site and the use of the

schedule, to propose a design solution, in

this case, with established topic and sche-

dule.

With the topic “Environment fórum”, the

student must design a proposal with an

established Schedule, which provides

three different áreas: museum, administra-

tive, and guest, with its respectives users.

The proposal must be a main space where

the discussion of issues related with the

environment, also must be an space with

access to information about those issues.

El estudiante debe aplicar los conocimien-

tos adquiridos de los proyectos anterio-

res, la lectura del sitio y uso del progra-

ma, para proponer una solución diseño, en

este caso, con tema y programa ya esta-

blecidos.

Con el tema “Foro del ambiente”, el estu-

diante debe diseñar una propuesta con

una programa determinado, el cual esta-

blece tres áreas distintas: museográfica,

administrativa y de visitantes, con sus

respectivos usuarios. La propuesta deber

ser un espacio central donde se de la dis-

cusión de temas relacionados con el me-

dio ambiente, además debe ser un espacio

para acceder a información acerca de di-

chos temas.

EL CONCEPTO “MEDIADOR DE ESPACIOS”

Buscar la interacción de las 3 diferen-

tes áreas, pero manteniendo los límites

entre ellas y evitando que se mezclen.

¿CÓMO PUEDO CREAR LA INTERACCIÓN?

Se crea un elemento que permita la inter-

acción entre las áreas, mientras evita

que estas se mezclen.

En este caso, se utiliza el foro como ele-

mento mediador entre las áreas, las cua-

les se organizan alrededor de este.

Search for the interaction between the

three different areas, but keeping the li-

mits between them and preventing mixing.

¿HOW CAN YOU CREATE THE INTERACTI-

ON?

Creating an element the allows the inter-

action between the areas, while preven-

ting mixing.

In this case, the fórum is used as the me-

diator between the areas, which are orga-

nized around it.
