The Breville JigSaw was a design for manufacture project which required the transformation of an Industrial Powertool to a domestic appliance. Keeping with the Breville form language, efficientand cost effective manufacturing processes, materials and tooling, I was able to design in such a way that there are no visible screws or obvious part-lines

Function
The design is constructed around the existing 1050L MAXIPLAS MAXICUBE (fig.iii) which acts as the sole support for the structure due to its rigidity and extruding profiles. The design is a basis for a modular system with the water tank acting as the anchor for the entire assembly (fig.i). The manufacturing process allows you to create varying sizes and versatile designs to accompany different users (schools, shopping centres, ect)(fig.ii). There is also backyard furniture that can be attached to further utilise the collected water (ie outdoor shower and bathtub).
This is a modular water harvesting system that is lightweight, easy to transport & assemble. In addition to this, it is also environmentally sustainable (using recycled Poly Propylene), promoting public transport and environmentally sustainable strategies through its construction, use and materials.

One of the most challenging aspects of this design was to create a cost effective and easy to assemble unit with minimal components and maximum safety witout sacrificing the simplistic aesthetic and the usability factors of the design.

Gate Uniques is a beautique jeweller in Adelaide who commissioned me to design and construct a jewellery display unit that is versatile, secure and will represent her jewellery through soft earthy veneers

The first phase of the proposal was to create a three-dimensional computer model or CAD which better explained to the client the function, features and shape of the design (I presented this using an augmented reality software available on the IPad fig.ii). It also enabled me to better understand tolerencing and assembly features which are a crucial element in the first laser cut prototype (fig.iii).
Initially intended for laser cut acrylic, the brief changed to timber veneer as it was both more cost effective and desireable both aesthetically and through tactile feedback.
This gave the opportunity to create molds to be able to bend the veneer and create nice sweeps and bends (fig.i)
