ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Apar t f rom the ef for ts of mysel f , the success of any projec t depends largely on the encouragement and guide-l ines of many others . I take this opportunity to express my grat itude to the people who have been instrumenta l in the successfu l complet ion of this projec t . I would l ike to show my greatest appreciat ion to Prof . W.Eir ik Heintz . I can’t say thank you enough for his t remendous support and help. Without his encouragement and guidance this projec t would not have mater ia l ized. I a lso take immense pleasure in thanking Prof . B ob Dahm, C element Vincent , and Guarange Desai for the great inspirat ion that led me through this year. And a Specia l thank to my peer Samra Qasim for being next to me a l l the t ime, inspir ing me with her intel l igent ideas and support ing me through the hard-est moments in this year.

C ampu s Pen D r aw i ng :

This exercise is to develop the familiarity with pen and ink drawing and to develop familiarity with two point perspective. A drawing of a build-ing in the campus of the American University of Sharjah from a distance with the two points perspective techniques, and showing a detail of the building by also using the same medium; pen and ink.

Sti l l l i fe w it h C ol or :

Using different mediums in a single work, this work shows the ability to represent the perception of depth, proportion, scale, and figure ground relationships. The mediums used in this piece were, pen, ink, and water-color.

Instabi l ity

Pr i n c ipl e s of D e si g n :

We were asked in this ex-ercise to des ign composi-t ions to express few design elements , by us ing c ircles f ramed in a 20*20 square.

C omp o sit i on :

Using geometr ica l shapes with a le tter “t” to make a composit ion showing the relat ionship between the shapes .

C omp o sit i on :

A dif ferent composit ion showing how the shapes re late to each others .

C omp o sit i on :

Showing the relat ionship between shapes , and their e f fec t on the v iewer.

31

Kit of Par t s :

In this exercise , we were asked to des ign a model us-ing severa l planes , showing the rela-t ionship between each plane, a l low-ing the planes to notch each other. This des ign was planed to show a gradual movement , and the planes re lat ion with the space they create . Making the space f low around with-out interrupt ing the planes

Pattern

Pattern :

Starting with the construction lines, we were asked to study a pattern of a window frame in American University of Sharjah, The shape of the patters has emerged from the construction lines.

Page 43: Portfolio 2013

36

Pattern :

This Final work of the window pattern done by adding details to complete the shape of the pattern with the assistance of the construction lines.

Isometrics

Is ometrics :

With the aid of the T square and a 60-degree/30-degree triangle, the box that enclose the two cylinders was constructed. Then by using the french curve and the elliptical template, and after setting the points of the ellipse the curvilinear lines were created. A grid in a box to show where the intersec-tion point was con-structed before the final work construc-tion.

Exploded Axonometric

E le ctric Plug :

In this exercise , we were asked to make an exploded view of an electric plug that shows the components that are used to make a plug . With the exploded axonometric technique, we can show how each part relates to the other, this technique was set to help and guide the consumer of any product to assemble the product step by step.

S er i e s A :

This project explores three-di-mensional systems of organization and space making, by using voids with given dimensions

S er i e s B :

Interior volumes may be distin-guished from the exterior surface by using different colors with least contrast.

BA R +

Exploration of three-dimensional systems of organization and space making by developing the inverse from our series C or D of the pre-vious project. The medium used here is bass wood.

Page 58: Portfolio 2013

51

F I NA L BA R +

In this projects we were asked to create a relationship of solids that corresponds to the exact dimensions and placement of the voids from our previous project. In place of the solid I developed an elaborated framing system that represents the regulating lines of series C or D and divided them into primary, secondary and tertiary framing systems that aim to unify the entire design. The primary, secondary and tertiary framing systems are dis-tinguished from each other by size. An important focus on this project is designing the joints where multiple elements come together.
