Illustration for ILP’s Lesson Book - General English Level (2011)

When ILP asked me to draw illustrations for their Lesson Book targeting people from Junior High School to Working

ages, I thought this is a really precious opportunity for me to widen my drawing skill. Before then, I always draw

children Illustration. Well, the truth is, I’m in love with children’s innocent world, and there’s a childish side of me that

never gets old, but I also love challenges, so I accepted the job. This job taught me how to draw a different type of

people, based on their ages, nations and religions. I also learned deeper about face expression, interaction between

characters and their surroundings, and many more.

Illustration for Children’s World - Story Book (2011)

My twitter friend have a really brilliant idea to celebrating Children’s World Day, “why don’t we make a children’s

Story Book, sell it, and give the money for charity?”. He published his idea, opened recruitment for writer and

illustrator. I love children, I love to draw, and I’m hungry for new experiences, so without thinking twice I applied as

one of the Project’s illustrator. They gave me 4 scripts, but my favorite is : “Lolli, Lollipop”, because finally I had the

chance to draw those cute cute cute (pardon the repetition) colorful lollipops. Mika did say

, but drawing too much lollipops sure won’t harm anything, right?

“Sucking too hard on your

lollipop, or love’s gonna gonna get you down”

Illustration for Majalah Anak Muslim - Playgroup (2010-present)

This is the first job that I took as a freelance Illustrator. I love manga and anime, my old sketchbooks was full of

Japanese-character-like sketches : slender body image and sparkling super big eyes. At that time, I’m quite satisfied

with my low drawing skill, but when I decided that I would make Illustrator as my official occupation, and finally

I could publish my Illustration on a magazine, I knew I have to polish my skill. Through trials and errors, and

practices, I slowly established my own drawing style. The fact that there are thousand of children, teachers and

parents that would read, teach and learn through my drawings, never failed to encourages me.

When I’m drawing children illustration, I always try to think through children point of view. What colors that attracts

kid, what kind of drawings that I usually made when I was a kid, what activities that will stimulate creativity, and

so on. I hope that they could interact with their surroundings, reflecting on things they never knew before. I want

them to be smart, know lots of things, yet brave enough to be different and creative. I want them to play, connect the

dots, counting stars, coloring, spelling words and letters. There’s still a lot of things to be improved from my

illustration, but the goals never change.

Illustration for Fun

What Illustrator do for fun when they aren’t working? drawing. I do have another hobbies, I always love singing,

reading 800-pages-fantasy book, blogging silly things, watching korean dramas, and recently I’m into baking. It’s a cute

fact that when I feel tired or when I’m not on a deadline, I’m still drawing. It could be I’m fulfilling my friend’s orders

(as side income, newly-weds and entrepreneurs, ), or to satisfy my needs of expressing creativity.

I’m start baking when I got the back cramps, a medical patch, massage and mixing of flour, egg and milk later, I could

start to draw again, and now I get a plate of chocolate muffins to accompany me. Life couldn’t get any better.

oh how I love them
