We studiedtheworkofFilippoBrunelleschi,Giorgio Vasari, Leon BattistaAlberti, Bramante and last butnottheleastMichelangelo.Laterwe saw the late renaissancewith the work of Palladio.To close the semester welearned about baroc. Cline Van Thorre and I wereassigned to the casino of Ostend. The casinowasbuiltin1948-1953andwasdesignedbyLeonStynen.Aftergatheringallnecessaryinformation,wecouldconcludethatthecurvedglassfacadewererevolutionaryfortheirtime.Aftertakinga photograph of the building, we have workedtochangethesepiacolor;addpeoplefromthe50s Our goal was to edit the picture as itlooked like an old postcard of the 50s. Sinceback in the time Ostend was the place to be.In semester four we had to analyse a building intermsofplanningconstruction,operationvolume,Cline and I got assigned to the Vitra Hausfrom Hetzorg and the Meuron. This timewe had to go beyond the visual aspects.After analysis, based on plans to build, wedecomposed the architectural promenade. Wealso had to investigate the building of volumes..Asafnalassignmentinthemoduleaconwewereinstructed to analyse a building and then processthisinacubeof20x20cm.ThebuildingthatweanalysedthistimewasCCIBfromJosepLluisMateoinBarcelona.Sincethelightwascentral,wereallywantedtoprocessthisinthecube.Wechosetomake the cube of MDF and then paint it as itwouldlooklikeametallicmaterial,sincetheCCIBis constructed using a steel frame construction.Thenwechoseforacatchyconcept,eg;onthesideyoucanplaywithstringsthatthenshiftwallsinthecube.TheopeningsinthecuberefertothevariousopeningsJosepLluismateousedintheoriginalconstruction.
