Michael is a member ofthe British Commission for Military History andalso a well respected battlefield guide, with analmost un-rivalled knowledge of the“battlescapes” of the Great War. He has spentthe past eight years documenting thebattlefields as they are today.

This evening will take us on a world tour, from familiarbattlefields, such as the Somme and Ypres to otherlesser-known fronts such as Palestine and East Africa,all captured in photographs that have been describedas “works of art in their own right”.

Together with the late Prof Richard Holmes, Michaelconceived the open air photographic exhibition “Fieldsof Battle, Lands of Peace” to enable the subject to beintroduced to the wider public who would nevernormally visit a museum or art gallery. Opening in2014 in Paris, where it was seen by 1.2 million people,the display moved to St James’s Park, adjacent to theGuard’s Memorial (where it was estimated to havebeen seen by 1.5 million people) until November 14th.

So please come and join us for what promises to bean enlightening and inspiring presentation about theunique centenary period of the First World War.

All proceeds will be shared between the Army BenevolentFund and Malvern Theatre Development Fund.
