PRESIDENT’S PAGE

Our Annual General Meeting has seen some new faces on our committee, congratulations to Geoff Baker and Baden Howe and our new secretary Rob Osborne. A big thankyou to Helen Taylor for her time and input on the committee. Willis Mundy has stepped down from the committee but will continue as Workshop Manger. Our next commitment is “ KIDS FEST “ 23rd & 24th September, if you don’t have your name on the list please let me know if you are available for the above dates. As I write this the Melbourne Wood Show is September 8th - 9th - 10th which as for as I know only a few of our members have shown an interest in going, a reflection on it’s waning popularity ?. A visit to Tatong - Tolmie area with Vic forest will be 18th Oct. You would have noticed in the last news letter the up coming events calendar “ hope to continue this with each News letter so please assist us with event dates as we may overlook some dates. The theme for “ KIDS FEST “ is Rocks are cool “ if you have any suggestions or Ideas let me know, a wooden rock Maybe Till next month, Len.

COMING EVENTS

Hi All Just a short note to introduce myself I live 30 mins away from Shepparton near the town of Invergordon. I am a computer programmer by day, but in the past have been a Telephone Technician, Office Worker and Soft ware Tester. I have a young family that I started a little bit late with my wife Helen, 2 beautiful cheeky daughters, Jessica (7) and Emily (5). I have always enjoyed well made wooden objects, wood appeals to me as something beautiful to begin with, adding skill and craftsman ship to create something unique is something I aspire too. Having a Tech School education , I’ve always worked with wood. I’ve done a reasonable amount of DIY renovation in the past but not much fine woodworking. After visiting our wood show last year, and after getting hooked on watching “The Woodwrights Shop” with Roy Underhill, decided to join the club early this year. Having the resources of the workshop and expertise of the members is a wonderful way to start a new hobby. Some of you have seen me around the club, but I have yet to meet all of our members and am still learning names and faces. Come and say hello if you need anything! Cheers Rob Osborne Secretary Goulburn Valley Woodworkers.
