Designed for rugged and remote operation, Qnergy’s PowerGen Series Remote Power Generator provides reliable electrical power supply to the most demanding and mission-critical loads. Based on Qnergy’s no-maintenance and highly reliable PCK series Stirling engines, the generator package can work seamlessly with a variety of fuel supplies, including: natural gas, propane, ethane, biogas, and multiple associated gas streams. By means of its flexible and modular design, this generator package can be tailored to provide a broad range of power output architectures (AC & DC) to meet the electrical requirements of each specific site load.

Qnergy’s Free-Piston Stirling Engine (FPSE) generator can transform virtually any heat source into electricity. Once heat is applied to the FPSE the heat exchangers maintain a temperature differential across the engine causing the helium to shuttle back-and-forth inside the engine, expanding and contracting. The oscillating helium drives the linear reciprocating motion of the piston, which by means of an integral linear alternator, directly converts the reciprocating motion of the piston into electrical power.

Assembled using lean manufacturing processes, the PowerGen is built to meet strict quality standards. The integrated components and controls are all designed to maximize the customer’s ability to control and monitor their power-generation asset while minimizing servicing of any kind.

The Qnergy engine has fewer moving parts than traditional kinematic Stirling engines, and no direct-contact points that cause wear and require lubrication. The Qnergy engine is truly a maintenance-free technology that offers long-life performance, two key features that make it an ideal power source.

Diesel/gas generators are widely used for power generation for railroad wayside applications due to their high power, mass market availability and low initial cost. What’s often overlooked is the on-going maintenance needs and associated expens-es to keep diesel/gas generators operational. You have to change the oil every few hundred hours, rebuild the engine or even replace the generator entirely after just a few years.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a power generating solution that could run continously for 60,000 hours with little to no maintenance? Sounds too good to be true, but in the case of Qnergy’s PowerGen Remote Generators you can have your cake and eat it too! As an external combustion engine the PowerGen is capable of producing steady, dependable power from 1.2kW up to 5.6kW for a variety of critical applications.

Qnergy’s PowerGen Stirling Engines are a great fit for mid-to-high power rail wayside signaling and com-munications applications (control points, interlockings, remote sites, telecom base stations, solar hybrids, etc.) due to their rugged and robust construction, extremely long life and little to no maintenance needs.

Prime Off-Grid Power The PowerGen can be used as a prime power generator for remote locations where utility power connection is unavailable and/or too costly. The Power-Gen is capable of cycle charging or running continously for 60,000+ hours.

Backup Power The PowerGen can be used as a backup power system for locations with AC utility power connection. A transfer switch can signal the PowerGen to start and provide power during an AC power outage. Unlike some power tech-nologies, the PowerGen has no start/stop limitations.

Solar Hybrid The PowerGen is well suited to provide supplemental power to new or exist-ing Solar Power Systems. During periods of insufficient solar production (ex: winter months), the PowerGen is signaled to start and provide power to charge batteries. Fueling requirements of the PowerGen can be reduced when used in a hybrid configuration as it’s only called upon periodically.

Rail Applications

Compared to Diesel/Gas Generators that have a design life of 1,000 to 3,000 hours and frequent

maintenance needs, Qnergy’s PowerGen can reliably operate for 60,000+ hours with

little to no maintenance needs!

Key Features & Benefits

Can operate seamlessly with a variety of fuel supplies including: natural gas, propane, ethane, bio-gas, as well as multiple associated gas streams at differing caloric values.

Has fewer moving parts than traditional kinematic Stirling Engines and no direct contact points that cause wear and require lubrica-tion. The PowerGen is truly a maintenance-free technology and offers long-life performance, two key features that make it an ideal remote power source.

By means of its flexible and modular design, this generator package can be tailored to provide a broad range of power output architectures (AC & DC) to meet the electrical requirements of each specific site load.

The PowerGen can easily be integrated with new or existing power infrastructure including batteries, solar & wind, solar charge controllers and much more. Dry contacts, relays and MODBUS provide easy interfacing. Web-based remote monitoring is also available.

Uses advanced combustion capabilities to quietly and efficiently transform fuel into steady, dependable power. Unlike other tech-nologies there is no reliability reduction for multiple start-stops or continuous operation. Design life is conservatively estimated at 60,000 hours with zero maintenance.

Qnergy is a company focused on providing energy to a world market looking for innovative, cost effective, and efficient ways to energize the future. With more than 40 years of expertise and proven reliability, Qnergy brings proprietary, high-performance Stirling engine technology to the marketplace for commercial, industrial and residential applications.
